Seriously - sooooo good. Standard diner/cafe food but with a fresh, comfort feel to it. They make their own salsa - they should jar it and sell it! Sometimes the service may not b...

Ok for Kids but good food 2/16/2012

The food is good here with decent portions and prices. I thought this place was super kid friendly and there are some great visuals and props kids enjoy. The hours are kid friendly The cons of why I didn't think it was super kid friendly: First, we had to wait a long time and my 2 year old can only be patient for so long. Second, didn't see a kids menu or at least the server didn't bring one out. more

Decent Food, Good Service 2/11/2007

Yes, this place can get busy on the weekends. But I always find a place that is busy, to be a good sign that it's a good place to go. If you enjoy typical greasy diner fare, and chatting with the locals, this is a great place. Nothing formal. Come in your pajamas. Wait time is usually no more than 20mins. I went on a Sunday around 11:30am, and we (2 of us) got a prompt seat at the bar. The menu is extensive and breakfast is served all day. I had the strawberry waffles, which was good except for the smothering of strawberry compote on them. The egg dishes are plentiful. Hashbrowns are crispy. The service is quick, and the staff friendly. Everyone is on their toes. Cleanliness seemed to be decent. Perhaps in the year since the last reviews, the new management has kicked that up a notch. Lots of great memorabilia to reminisce on. Fun place to go on the weekends after rolling out of bed late, or a late night comfort food craving. more

Ho Hum 4/10/2006

Ho Hum Ho Hum Ho Hum......... They should take a cue from Kidd Valley and do just one thing well, even if its burger and fries. Just too run down and unkempt even to call it charming. more

Greasy Spoon 9/21/2005

In my humble opinion, Seattle has many great greasy spoons and Luna Park is definitely in the top ten. As with most greasy spoons, the service is questionable and the food is good n' greasy. If this is what you are in the mood for, you won't be disappointed. It's not the best food ever, or the best breakfast place in West Seattle for that matter, but it satisfies the craving. more

Just an "okay" experience... 9/9/2005

We visited Luna Park Cafe last weekend when our in-laws were in town. Admittedly, we had already spent a good amount on going out to eat, so we were "cruising" our Entertainment Book for an inexpensive brunch. To our dismay, the Cafe is under new management and is not accepting the coupon anymore. Call me crazy, but if you've undergone new management, I would think you'd want to keep your former customers and attract new ones. Doesn't seem like the smartest business decision to cut off the coupon use, especially with only a couple more months to go for the 2005 edition. I guess this new management is resting on its laurels of its existing clientele. I hope it works. I have to echo the sentiment of the previous reviewer: The place doesn't emit the essence of cleanliness. My daughter wanted to ride the broken-down Batman car, but it looked so filthy that I didn't even want her to touch it. The food was simply okay--your typical diner fare, omelets, club sandwiches, etc. The service was very good. We probably won't go back a) because of the principle of the Entertainment Book issue; and b) because the cleanliness level did not feel comfortable. more

Neighborhood joint that's too busy, to keep clean 8/16/2005

Luna Park Cafe is a historical institution, with a prime location, long-as-your arm menu, kitschy decor, and it tends to get busy on the weekends. As diner fare nothing's really good, nor does it need to be, West Seattle has too few joints where you can roll outta bed Sunday morning and take the paper with you to the table. Unfortunately the place gets (and stays) grimy...caked on dust on the salt and pepper shakers, jelly dispensers with more than jelly, and I've seen highway rest stops with cleaner restrooms. After receiving a replacement fork that was as dirty as the original I gave up on the place. If there was a good signature dish, or speciality of the house, I could over look the literal nature of this greasy spoon. Their cheese sauce for the egg dishes is terrible, order on the side. But the come as you are atmosphere and modest prices keeps 'em jammed with families for brunch, so head on underneath the bridge to Chelan's, or Madison's cafes. more
