Locke Hill Pet Feed & Lawn

I went here a few days ago because my vet sent me over there to find some good moisturizing things for my dogs coat. As usual there's always 2 guys at the far end of the registers near where they keep there front-line products, ones ALWAYS sitting on the chair. So I go over to the heavier set lady that was at the register near the glass doors and politely asked her ""ma'am my vet sent me over here to buy some moisturizing shampoo, would you mind showing me the different kinds you have?"" I knew she heard me, I was standing right in front of her computer and she didnt even look up or acknowledge my presence. I have never been so disrespected like that in a store that I go to spend my hard earned money at before. The younger girl walked over to me and was very nice, asked me if I needed any help, I told her what my vet said and she walked me over to the shampoos and showed me the different ones that would be good for my dog. I would have left an extremely angry customer if it wasnt for the nice lady that did help me. I dont know what was up with that other lady, I believe if you are at the cash register, you are the front of the house that means you are suppose to be there to help the customer not ignore them. That is your job, if you dont like it, maybe you should be looking for a different one. This incident is not going to make me not want to go to Locke hill. I find the place enjoyable to be at. Just because there's one bad apple doesnt make the whole tree rotten. more

Have always loved the selection of pet products...food and supplies..and everyone is usually very nice! Today was a COMPLETELY different story. Went in for large bag of Ultra Dog Food and found only one 15lb bag on the shelf..expired Feb 2013 and here we are already in January! I walked up to gentlman at 1st register (no one in line and another young female employee waiting to help someone at 2nd register) asking what the next larger size bag was. When he said 30lb, I said I'd take it if it was a few months fresher than February. He said he'd have to check the bag when it was brought up. I said fine. He rang it up and looked at me...I said I'd like to wait unitl we check the date. Another gentlman brought the bag to register and 1st gentleman told him to lay it on the shelf across from the register, which he did and quickly walked off. I assumed 1st person was going to help me lift bag to look for date but he just stayed back, drumming his fingers on the register (impatiently). I found the October date, turned around as he was walking toward a third register and he began helping another customer as female employee also started assisting a customer. I waited a few minutes at 1st register and the 1st gentleman didn't even acknowledge me or ask me to please wait. After several minutes I told the young female to tell the gentleman that the date was fresher, but I wasn't going to wait any longer for him. The gentleman looked up (he heard me) and didn't say anything. How rude!! Not only did he not help me with the bag, but drumming his fingers the whole time and then walking off as I was walking towards his original register! Maybe he had a bad Christmas!!! Anyway, it'll be a while before I go back. Very disappointed more

I was in dire need of pet care products so I decided to chek out the store before I went to one of the chain pet care stores. more

Locke Hill is just simply the best feed store in this part of the universe. more

Twice I have gone to the counter with purchases that were missed marked (at a lower price) the old man said that someone made a mistake stocking the item. And he charged me the higher price! All the bags of a particular dog food was clearly marked with a lower price but he would not budge! He rang up the higher price and I asked him why the increase? All the bags were marked with the lower price. He said they didn't have time to adjust the price! more

I have to agree with the person who commented on the owner's attitude. He is horrible!!! I walked in the store and the employees greeted me. However the owner gave me the dirtiest look from the top of my head down to the shoes I was wearing and did not even smile after he scopped me down. He did not ask if I needed help. In fact he looks at everyone who is NOT white the same way he looked at me. At first I thought it was my imagination, then I noticed he was in fact smiling at the white folks. WRONG attitude for any buisness!!!!!!! more

I have been a customer of Locke Hill Pet Feed & Lawn Supply for well over ten years now. They carry a wide variety of cat and dog food that many of the chain stores do not. The staff always offers to carry my purchases to my vehicle. When I have questions, the staff is polite and will direct me to the correct area. I have never encountered rude or unprofessional service. I recommend this place to anyone with animals. more

I love this place. I get all my dog and cat food here. But if the older man is the owner he is very grumpy. I feel sorry for the staff, on thier tiptoes. more

As a new adoptive mother of kittens of from an animal shelter, clueless of what products to buy,Locke Hill Feed was recommened to me. Mr. Bill Estes and his staff were more than helpful to make suggestions as to what products I should purchase for my new pets. This guidence was great and I am so appreciative. I feel very comfortable in following his advise. Everything he told me made the process so much easier. Because of his advise, as the kittens mature, I know I can count on Locke Hill for the best information. more

I have shopped at Locke Hill Feed store for many years now, and I don't think that I will ever go back. Dont get me wrong, the employees are very helpful and nice, they have great customer service, but the owner is another story. The owner treats his employees disrespectful infront of customers and other employees. The last three times that I have gone into that store, he has yelled and belittled them. I found his actions to be very inappropriate. Becasue of his behavior, I refuse to shop or refer any friends and family to this place of business. more

I was first attracted to this store because they have open bins of seeds so you don't have to buy 50 lbs. unless you need it. They have a huge variety of large and small animal food plus a great selection of pet supplies. If they don't have what you're looking for . . . they'll get it! Bi-weekly vet clinics, good quality hay, kennel supplies, live chickens in the spring, large animal variety of food in addition to the norm, including snakes, fish, ferrets, mice, monkey's, hamsters, bunnies, birds, etc. Great store. Great prices. Great service. Pros: Any kind of feed and pet supplies are available Cons: None more

The store may be a little dusty but the service is good. I go there to buy bird food, pond fish food and smoked treats for my dog from Pet Deli. I discovered Pet Deli treats when I went to a dog show here in San Antonio. They are out of Houston and they make the best vanilla scented smoked pig ears...they are huge, makes my baby breath sweet. The moo tube is big too and my dog loves it. I am glad that I was able to find Pet Deli products locally. Pros: Friendly service, great hours, Pet Deli products Cons: A litle dusty more

I recently moved to San Antonio and was having a tough time finding quality dog food. It seems Petco and Petsmart dominate the market here. Petco does sell Natural Balance, but the price is ridiculous. So, I was very pleasantly surprised to find this feed store that sells Innova and many other high quality dog foods for reasonable prices. more
