My friend and I went to The Lippman Company this weekend on a Saturday to buy some hats and accessories for our bowling team. We were feeling the pain from the evening before but the second we walked in to the store it all melted away and we had so much fun! The staff is awesome - they get so excited about your little ""projects"". They are also really knowledgable about the products they carry which is great. I would recommend anyone going - even if they are hung over! more

Every time I walk in this store everyone is smiling, especially the staff! And if you can't find something specific they more than likely know where you might find it elsewhere. And the prices are VERY reasonable compared to Michael's Crafts and other party stores. They also have rentals like blackjack tables, roulette wheels, etc. It's honestly a ONE STOP SHOP Party Supply place. Pros: Staff is friendly, funny & knowledgeable! Wow! I have to say Lippman Co is awesome!!!!! I am from Baton Rouge, LA and got extremely homesick when I missed my first Mardi Gras last year after having moved to Portland. I decided to alleviate that by throwing a Mardi Gras party in my home this year. I was prepared to order all of my supplies on-line from New Orleans when someone suggested Lippman Co to me. I dropped by to check our their store and I was amazed. They had an incredible selection of beads, decorations and party goods!!! No shipping charges for me!!!!! I would have never thought I would be able to find all my Mardi Gras needs in Portland!!! I think I went shopping there 5 or 6 times and every time I went they had something new! I've been going into Lippmans since I was a little girl, when they were off 99... I've always had fond memories of the people and the place. However, I went in on the afternoon of Saturday the 17th of November, and was VERY disappointed. One gal behind the counter, with long light brown hair, was very helpful, the second (and unfortunately, I'm assuming she was a supervisor) with short, choppy brown hair was plain RUDE. I would have never expected such ""customer service"" from Lippmans. She was short, rude, and made it clear she wasn't interested in answering any questions. She told me that we'd need to talk with the floor manager, who was out of town until the following Wednesday. The kinder gal had me fill out a form that the mgr would use to contact me. Now, 2.5 weeks later, I haven't had contact from the mgr, and I am all the more upset by this situation. All I'd like to do is buy a hat for my little brother. I understand that things go out of stock, but, I don't understand why an employee couldn't even give me a rough time-line of when I might see the hat back in stock (I explained that I understood there would be no guarantee, but was just looking to know when I might check back) moreover, I don't appreciate that she was so gruff with any of the little information that she did give me.
