They lied 4/30/2011

They used to be real good back when Bob was there. Bob always made us a good deal and took great care of us. Well, he transferred to a different store last summer and boy did we tell the difference this last week! I took my car in because I knew the brake pads were worn down to the metal. I had called Lambs the week before to ask approximately how much it would cost to have brake pads replaced. The guy told me it would run between $190 to $220. So, I saved up the money and took it in. The guy looked at it and did an estimate and called me to say that it would cost $600 to replace the pads on all 4 tires and said that the rotors on the back tires were ruined and needed replaced. We don't have the money for that so I told him thank you and that I would have to wait to get it done. He tried to make me feel afraid to drive it until he could at least fix the rear brake pads and rotors so that the car would be ""road worthy"". I just took my car and left. Well, my brother-in-law came to visit this weekend. He was going to do the brakes for us (he's a former mechanic). He just got a look at the rear rotors and showed me. They looked new! There was nothing wrong with them at all. Our theory is that because I am a woman, this guy was taking total advantage of me. We are no longer Lambs customers. Never again! more

Austin's worst Auto Shop 10/29/2010

I went to Lambs and had my inspection done, I had only had the car a short time, but the inspection still needed to be updated. When I get this establishment I was asking different questions about which tire is better. The guy responded with ""well duh its a strip of rubber"". If they are all the same then why are they priced differently? The same guy tells me I need 4 new tires, and windshield wipers in order to pass inspection. When I asked what did windshield wipers have to do with inspection and if they could show me what they meant by they didn't pass...he was then quick to withdraw that as a necessity to pass inspection. Turns out they gave me to shittiest tires...the ones that were just ""rubber"" the ones with no warranty...they really are just hunks of rubber...I have only had them for 15,000miles and the tread is gone...if you buy tires from these guys don't let them make you feel stupid...ask for the insurance on the tires and dont use DUNLOP (however you spell it) they are shitty and a waste of money! more

Did not do work I paid for! 9/29/2010

A couple of years ago I paid Lambs $136 to replace the in-cabin air filter on my Honda Pilot. Recently took it to another place for the same service ($87) and the mechanic stated that it was a ""first time"" change. Apparently on Pilots you have to cut out a plastic panel the first time you change this filter and it had never been done! more

What a Disaster! 9/4/2010

These comedians installed a $350 tire (asymmetrical tread) on my car inside out. On retuning to the shop to rectify the error they somehow proceeded to scratch the hell out of my alloy wheel. I would have had better luck in the Third World. more

Very nice and Bob is really good at explaining things. Pros: Clean, Friendly more

Scam Artists 2/3/2010

I brought my car in for an inspection. I drive a Saab Convertible. After 20 minutes of them inspecting the car I noticed the technician leaning over and pulling on some hoses. I wondered what was taking so long since I had just had the car serviced at my dealer and all was in good working order. Cons: Rip Off Artists more

will be back 10/30/2009

I think the address changed. I have gone to a couple of Lamb's, little stuff like oil changes and big stuff like tires. With the tires, they match prices so I got a good deal, and I know they are going toinstall them correctly - I have gone to anothe rplace - not a lamb's before - and most shops don't align the tires so you may have a great tire for cheap but you wear through it fast - lamb's got my tires aligned and I have had very little wear for as much as I have driven them. Oil changes, cheap for twenty bucks so I keep coming back more

Stay Clear of This Shop 7/2/2009

Here is my review, I'm a woman and I have an engine problem. I drove from Austin to Rockdale not knowing my engine was making a noise. When I got to Rockdale I heard the weird sound. So I called Lambs was told not to drive it. I had it towed from Rockdale to Lambs they checked the car told me it was a lifter not getting oil so I told them to fix it. well that cost about 800.00's then when I got it home and a day later my car was making a noise and my battery light was on. So I took the car to lambs again towed a second time and they checked it out. They did another oil change with a cleaner and said the voltage regulator was bad on the alternator so, I needed a new alternator. My concern is if the engine is bad no sense on buying an alternator. Well,I told them just do the oil change they did with the first 800.00 job. Asked why a second oil change they used a cleaner. The second oil chane cost 92.00's. I said no to the Alternator. My husband looked at my car and said they left the battery cable loose to wear it the alternator wasn't charing and my huband well he replaced my alternator and now my engine is back making a loud noise again. So they didn't fix the problem and I still need it fixed. Pros: Friendly Cons: Exspensive, Did not fix problem more

RIP OFF REPAIR SHOP!!! 7/26/2007

We were en route to another auto repair shop when my car ""died"" near Lamb's Automotive in Bee Cave. We were overcharged for the repair, then insulted with more suggestive selling for work that should be done (again, overpriced), but refused. Over the past 4 years of living in Barton Creek, I've been warned many times about Lamb's price gouging, but went out of desperation. Never again. If Lamb's charged fair prices, they would earn for more profit with a higher volume of business from our community. No question. Cons: PRICE GOUGING more

Still no word from Lamb's about my HORRIBLE experience! 6/20/2007

It has been 3 days since THE INCIDENT and i'm finding more and more people have had horrible experiences with Lamb's. One friend took his car in because it was shaking and Lamb's quoted him $3000 for a new transmission. Not being a mechanic but actually having a brain he told Lamb's to put the car back together so he could have it towed to someone else. Lamb's who supposedly has a FREE estimate program tried to charge him $65 to put everything back in place!! The guy actually tried to GUILT him into paying by saying his mechanic wouldn't get paid if he didn't pay (amazing!!!!!). Turns out the next place charged him $150 to replace a joint of some sort (UV?)....Nothing to do with a transmission. Pros: Nice signs Cons: They are still in business more

If you want to be lied to, visit Lambs 6/19/2007

We recently bought 4 minivan tires with road hazard warranty through Lamb's thinking it would cover us if something happened to one of the tires...wrong. My wife had a gash in one of the tires so she took it to good ole Lambs where they told her ""Everything will be fine! Ill bet you're glad you got the road hazard warranty?"" The guy went on to tell her not to worry and everything will be taken care of. When I went to pick up the MINIVAN with stock rims (nothing special) the guy again said how fortunate I was to have the ""Road Hazard Warranty"". Then he proceeded to check me out saying there were some ""small fees"". At that point he charged me $64 which included another charge for Road Hazard. WOW! I sure was glad to have the ""Warranty""! more

DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES 4/17/2007

this place looks for extra services or items to install in order to make a quick buck. they quoted me an over $1000 price tag for brake/oil system repairs that cost me under $200 to repair at a competitor more

Don't go there! 1/16/2007

I went twice there as it is close to my house and offer to pick you up and drop you off, and twice I was felt ripped off!! first time they estimated my AC problem at over $1000 and got it fixed somewhere else for $95. Then I went to just have a brake check and I ended up changing them as they scared me to death about their conditions and end up with a bill of $600 and the work was not so great as I had to take my car back twice to adjust the brake again. Avoid that guy Scott, he'll try to get fix everything in your car and take you for a stupid person, especially if you're a woman. more

Great experience everytime we have used these guys 6/10/2006

My husband trusts NO ONE, especially a service-oriented business like this, and I am no sheep myself but we have had nothing but positive experiences with these guys. We always have our autos inspected there and have never had an issue. Once my husband went to get a brake job and they took him in the work area & pointed out that it was unnecessary. I don't remember why my husband thought it was needed but they changed his mind. They are friendly, courteous and I highly recommend them. more

Either incompetant or Dishonest 11/25/2003

I brought my husband's suburban in for a state inspection. Upon checking out, the manager told me that it needed a brake booster. I got 2 second opinions by ASE certified Master mechanics. Both said that it was fine. They are either incompetant or dishonest. Pros: convenient location Cons: try to sell unnecessa more

Great!! 7/10/2002

Being a woman I have encountered quite a few mechanics that have tried to rob me blind with repairs that I didn't even need!! Needless to say I was very upset when my car broke down and I had no trustworthy mechanic to take it to. I blindly picked Lamb's out of the yellow pages and was very delighted with the service I recieved. Tim didn't try to sell me anything that I didn't need (like the endless tubes and belts that always seem to need replacing) and he made me feel ok with the fact that I didnt know what the hell he was talking about. The service was quick and painless. I will be bringing my car here everytime I need anything done. more
