Excellent Salon 9/30/2011

I have recently gone to Joseph Anthony to receive a blowout . I have visited the salon on several occasions and have been completely satisfied with each trip. Noelle possesses exception skills as a stylist and I would recommend her without a doubt to everyone I know. As a woman, the importance of good hair is crucial when going out for a night on the town. I am confident that with each visit I will leave feeling ready for a great night. Go, request Noelle I promise you will not regret it!!! more

Best salon in University City !!! 9/29/2011

A friend told me about Joseph Anthony's, so I decided to check it out. I went in and treated myself to a Mani/ pedi since they were running a great deal $28.00 for both which is unheard of !! It was very relaxing, The women who gave me the service was very gentle and had a wonderful relaxing touch. I also decided to get my hair done while I was there since I had some spare time. Dana did my color and i was very happy with my new look!! Take advantage of the Mani/ Pedi special if you can, it is well worth it!! I will be going back to this Salon again!! more

If you want a great hair-cut from true professionals, this is the place to go! Being a fairly new resident to Philadelphia and student at Penn, I've been in search for a place to get my hair cut. After going to several different places, I can confidently say Joseph Anthony offers the best service and in the area. I've been their multiple times since, and each time I leave completely satisfied. The staff are all courteous, caring and take absolute pride in what they do. They are less concerned with getting you in and out, and more concerned with taking their time and having you leave with a excellent hair cut. Top quality cuts in convenient location!....10/10 more

My first time got my hair cut i t was at Joseph anthony hair salon i was a student at Drexel, i never found a better hair cut like the one i had at this salon ,and people who they work there are really friendly ,if you wanna go there ask for John :) more

Worst Salon in Philly 11/9/2010

This is the absolute worst place I have ever been. I don't even know why I went more than once. Every time that old man gets ahold of my head he butchers it. He misses entire sections and gave me the worst haircut of my life. He needs to retire because he obviously can't see what he's doing. The haircut is so bad that I already have an appointment with another salon to fix this atrocity. Absolutely pathetic. Don't EVER waste your money at this place. more

Cut, Color and Wax 8/2/2010

Started going here last year then went home and missed this place. I moved back to philly already getting ready for school and stopped in the salon for the works. I got a cut, highlights and splurged for a wax too. Will make it a regular treat especially after a big test - be a good place to de-stress. Pros: Walkable from campus Cons: None that I can think of more

Thank God I Found Them 8/2/2010

At 20 something years old I already have some grey hair and was looking to get rid of it before this party I had. I was looking for a place in the area to get my hair colored and cut and a friend recommended this place to me. They were great - especially Pam who did a great job. Not pleased 6/12/2010

My first (& only) visit to this salon was so awkward. I walked in & saw that all of the staff was busy cutting hair & no one was at the front desk. A few of the female workers looked up at me, and I smiled and started to ask a question, but they blatantly ignored me & turned away. Pros: Relatively cheap, location in Univ. city Cons: unfriendly staff, not the best haircuts more

oh my god this place is absulutely horrible and the price is rediculous.the younger guy who cut my hair didn't even know what he was doing and he did exactly what i asked him not to do. it seemed like he was in a rush cause he finished up my cut in 10 min. he was extremely rude and unfriendly. Terrible 2/26/2010

I went there for a haircut. The old man who cut my hair didn't say a word the whole time. He grunted at me about what i wanted and then proceeded to butcher my head. I actually had to fix my own hair when I got home...there were giant patches of hair that he completely missed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! more

Terrible 9/3/2009

WOW, that was the worst pedicure. I don't even think I can call it a pedicure. My 2 year old niece could have painted my toes nicer. She actually used a different color on my one big toe (without telling me) b/c the color I picked was ""too old and like glue"". ""But it matched"". WOW. My feet actually feel dirty... I can't wait to go home and scrub them clean since the water my feet were soaking in was probably not sanitary. Ewww Im so grossed out. Never going back there. What a waste of 30 bucks. more

Great service, Great price 5/25/2009

I had my hair cut and colored. The color was great and the stylist cut my hair perfectly. She listened to my specific requests and got it right. They also have manicures and waxing. I will be back!! Pros: Walk in, Great service Cons: May have to wait a few minutes more

Dana is wonderful 4/22/2008

I've never been happy with Center City salons. The cuts are way too expensive (and usually cost extra to have the finished cut blow-dried!) and the stylists are very often uppity and obnoxious. My son's female roommate, who always has great-looking hair, recommended that I try Dana at Joseph Anthony's. Although I have to take a bus all the way across town from the Broad Street area, it is well worth the trip, because Dana has never given me anything less than a perfect cut and she pays attention to me when I describe the look I want. She's friendly and down-to-earth, as are the rest of the staff there. I get the same great cut there for $30 that I would pay at least $75+ for in Center City. I've never had my hair cut by anyone else in the salon, so I can only highly recommend Dana. Pros: Dana! Cons: a bit of a schlep from Center City more

I have been a customer of Joseph anthony's for 2 years now. Dana has always done my hair. She is very professional and understands what I want. I will never go to anyone else AGAIN!!!!!! Dana was off the day I needed my hair done, so I was talked into going to ALMA, I did because I had somewhere to go. MISTAKE she was the worst!!!! This woman had no Idea how to cut hair or blowdryhair. Not alone it took forever!!! I would never go to Alma again. I do recommend Dana , but if she is not there WAIT or go somewhere else!!!! more

Great hair-cuts and hair-styles! 2/27/2007

I have naturally very curly hair, and have had horrible previous experiences getting a decent hair cut. This includes very expensive (aveda) salons. Based on the recommendation of a friend, I went to Joseph Anthony for a trim and a temporary hair straightening. Noel was my hair stylist, and I could not have been more pleased! Not only did she do an amazing hair trim, but she made my super curly hair straight and look absolutely beautiful. I have gone back, and had Noel do several other things (permanent hair relaxing, additional hair trims), and have always been pleased. Not to mention, the hair cuts are very reasonably priced (around $40 for women). The only issue is, it's a barber shop and not a salon, so no frills included. But, I would always prefer getting a GOOD haircut, rather than having a glass of wine and over-paying for a haircut I don't like. I recommend Noel, at Joseph Anthony's! Brook is awesome at hair color! 1/31/2006

I got my hair died by Brook, and it turned out great! And the color has lasted longer then any other place I have gone. Over all, the people there were very nice and welcoming, and I would highly recommend it! more

Pedicure 8/23/2005

I had a pedicure this afternoon and it was horrible. I could have done a better job myself. The paint is sloppy, the area was uncomfortable, and the services were almost null. They slap some cream on and paint your toes. I would NOT recommend this to anyonw. more
