I took my boots here from advice from a friend. It took a month to get them repaired. Fine. But they got worn down in half a month and that has never happened to a pair of my shoes before. Usually it takes a year or two. Then my friend, who was his costumer for two years, had to stop going because he told her he'd fix her shoes but then she'd come back after a month or so and they would be sitting in the corner and he'd mouth off to her. Plus, her shoes' repairs wouldn't last either. I love sarcasm and rudeness as much as the next person but he doesn't do his job and that's just annoying. more

Quality and character 9/28/2007

This is a delightful store, with an emphasis on thoroughness and quality. I've had several pair of boots and shoes restored here, had some shoes customized for dancing, and had the zipper replaced on an expensive bag my mother purchased in Italy several years ago. All of the work was top quality. Someone comes in and does season window displays for the shop every month or so. Those are a wonderful feature of the community! more

Take Care of Your Shoes 4/23/2006

I haven't taken my own shoes here yet, but my sister drops them off and I usually pick them up for her. The owner (whose name is not Johnny, actually) is pretty honest about shoe care. He recommends that you wear different shoes every other day to keep them nicer for longer. That's an honest man, right there. So I follow his advice...but oddly enough, it means I don't get to have my shoes fixed...go figure. Nice guy. more

Excellent shoe repair 9/7/2004

These guys were referred to me by Dave Page Cobbler (the best place in town for hiking boot / climbing shoe repair - but that's another review). Dave knows his stuff, and Johnny's proved to be just what I needed - high quality work (re-heel and repair on a pair of dress boots), reasonably quick turnaround, fair prices and nice folks. If you need high quality shoe repair and Ballard is on your radar, Johnny's is the place to go. more
