Everyone who dresses well in Seattle probably knows this spot although if you are the typical Eastside matron/teen looking to be fawned over, you should stick to your regular haunts. One of the best things about this tiny place packed with beautiful and quirky designs is the service: one is never hustled, harrassed, told "how to wear things" without having asked. Nevertheless, the owner and/or sales staff know their sizes, goods and stock perfectly and are always ready to help. If you like truly beautiful clothes, fabulous shoes and always-trendy accessories this is your place.

I stumbled into this store on my way to my car!
My experience at Edie's (pronounced like EEDEES I was informed) was in West Seattle. The selection was pretty fun, good time shoes!
The salesman Cole was really nice and helped me find the perfect shoe for my big feet! Not the easiest thing, let me tell you!
All and all I must say this is a great store, the Cap Hill store is a bit more trendy, the West Seattle store is more casual. Go there!
Pros: Not your run of the mill

I heard about Merge through my husband's co worker (who always gives me tips on where to find long enough sleeves as we are both tall). I have to say, Merge is my guilty pleasure! For one, I can wear most of what is sold there, even at 6'1"!! Patricia stocks some very creative designers (my favorite is Elijah) and gives such a personal service while you shop--makes you feel like a queen. Every piece I've purchased from Merge has enhanced my wardrobe, and I highly recommend this wonderful little shop.
Pros: Many items are nice and long--great for tall women!
Cons: Hard for those on a budget.

Since you wear them all day and a good pair can last a few years...you will find "investment" shoes at Ped. They have a great solid selection of men's shoes and they specialize in cidwoq which are excellent and the most comfortable shoes on the planet. The staff is friendly and really knowledgeable about shoes. This is a locally owned business and a great place to know about when it comes to finding unique and well made shoes.

Over the past seven years, I have had Dave Page resole several pairs of hiking boots and hiking shoes: results were excellent. The boots/shoes came back in a relatively short period of time and the fit was exactly the same as before. I believe the soles he puts on last longer than the originals: good materials.

http://shoefly.com/ For months I've been longing to get inside this store. No, it's not that there is some bizarre exclusivity to it but rather that it sits next to where I get my hair cut by Katie Buter of Illustrated Hair in the Greenlake area. Usually I get my hair cut in the morning so I can have the benefit of gorgeous hair all day but Katie couldn't get me in till an afternoon appointment this week and OH am I happy!
Usually Shoefly is closed in the earlier morning hours so I just drool over what I see in the window. Last night I went in and spent 40 minutes perusing the lovely shoes on display. A nice assortment of interesting and funky shoes of all types: flats, casual, sporty, boots, dressy, dressy-casual, you name it!
What I loved the most is that they have styles that are much like the ones I see in Europe. Hip and edgy could be used to describe the majority of styles but there are some more conservative choices there as well. I was able to pick up a gorgeous pair of open toed red heels that were perfect to wear with my "Marilyn" dress and I also picked up a pair of wedges that are perfect for both work and casual wear.
Locations are in Seattle, Bellevue, and now Portland too. There is also a website and I've put the link in above.
Right now there is a sale going on where you get 1 pair at regular price and the second pair is HALF OFF! Go - Now - Shoefly!

Nothing but good stuff to say about the people and value at Outdoor and More. Whenever I'm asked about getting basic reliable gear and a good price I recommend O & M. Seems that employies are speaking from experience regarding equipment choices and won't sell you stuff you don't need. I will often go up to the big "co-op" up the street and find exactly what i'm looking for and then go to Outdoor and More and buy it. love it...

walked in to check it out and was delighted by the friendly staff; Jennifer greeted me and showed me some options for a new pair of athletic shoes. She measured my feet with the device and after seeing my gait, suggested several different shoes that would best accommodate my feet - both in size, shape and support.
I like the layout of the store; it's offers many options, both casual, dressy and professional.
My wife came in with me the last time and asked that we note that she loves the fact that they make a conscious effort to offer women's shoes that keep up with fashion trends while maintaining a strict level of comfort and stability.
I referred a friend of mine from the office and he needed orthotics to fit his dress shoes and some for his golf shoes, they took care of him as well and he said he'll be back as well.
This establishment is a class act.

I can always find stuff here that no one else has. I bought a gorgeous vintage dress and then ordered these very unique sandals from Sweden! You pick your own leather - out of several colors, sheens, etc. -and choose your sandal style - there were 3 or 4 to choose from. A perfect mix of vintage and new at this cute place. I just love it.
Pros: Always amazed at something new here
