Best

This is one of the most consistently great restaurants in Houston. The shrimp gumbo is some of the best I have eaten. If you're in the mood for fish - try the pecan crusted trout ...

Worst

Went for lunch today, horrible experience! Found dirty chair when i went to sit down, waitress was there and took credit for the filthiness and asked for me to excuse it. Waitress...

My brother and I ate here a couple of times during the labor day weekend 2013. The most memorable meal was grilled shrimp, with mussels for an appetizer. The shrimp were large and juicy, and served with lemon butter. When we ran short of lemon butter, the waitress brought us more. \r I am not a big fan of mussels, as they usually seem to be a plate of shells with tiny bits of meat in there somewhere. These mussels were grilled, with a slightly smoky flavor, and were fairly large. Very tasty.\r The wait staff were attentive, and the ambiance in funky. I recommend this restaurant. more

Stayed at the Hyatt Place and walked 100 yards to this Oyster Bar based on recommendation of my transfer driver. Sat down at the Oyster bar and was given great advice from the manager about their food. Grilled oysters is their house special. I had the grilled Oysters, steamed shrimp and chicken/sausage gumbo. The steamed shrimp was just good but the oysters and gumbo were the best I have ever eaten. Went back the next night and got the butterflied grilled shrimp in place of the steamed shrimp (and the grileld oysters and gumbl again) and they were also the best shrimp I have ever eaten. There seasoning is world class. It was right next to my hotel but would have been well worth driving an hour for. Do not miss this place if you get close. more

We ate here every night on business because well...we did some happy hour discussions and required a restaurant within walking distance. The food was delicious (Try the Boudin Balls). This place has some high dollar food but the service and value is phenomenal. Try It! more

If you're looking for a New Orleans style grilled oyster then head to Jimmy G's. Sit at the bar, have an cold beer, and enjoy watching them grill oysters and boil crawfish. The oysters are shucked right in front of you so you know they are fresh. Don't forget to ask for the garlic bread to help soak up all the wonderful oyster liquid.\r \r The location is easier to get to now that road construction was completed on the service road in front of the restaurant. more

I go here every time I travel to Houston. I have dined here well over 30 times in the \r last 8-10 years. This is by far the best Cajun sea food that I have ever experienced. \r The grilled oysters is one of their signature items. Large oysters grilled, doused with garlic oil and lemon then topped with grated parmesan cheese. I most always get Red Fish with Magnolia sauce.\r I have taken clients here for both lunch and dinner, never disappointed. \r Some of the employees have been there over 30 years, service is always great. more

We went to this restaurant because it was within walking distance of our hotel, Hyatt Place, and we had to cross our fingers that the food would be good. It most certainly was ! Everyone in our group if six ordered something different and we were all pleased with our selections. And our server was just terrific ! (Wish I could remember her name) We'd definitely go back to Jimmy G's if we were in Houston again. more

I had the pleasure of having grilled oysters on the half-shell and they were great. This was my 1st experience with grilled oysters and I had to go back for 2nds. You can enjoy the bar area and watch the food being prepared right in front of you or you can sit in the main dining section. It's all good here. more

I crave the oysters and crawfish when in season. The restaurant's U-shaped bar lends itself quite nicely to watching the preparation of the grilled oysters and boiling of crawfish. The crawfish are always boiled to perfection and seasoning can be added upon serving. It never disappoints when in season. \r \r The really star of the show is the grilled oysters. Whether just grilled or topped with lump crab meat, both are sure to please. The clarified butter, garlic, bread crumbs and other secret ingredients create a flavor that even folks who don't like oysters will enjoy.\r \r Come casual and grab a dozen... more

The crawfish are the very best in town and seasoned perfectly! They charge $6 per pound which is cheaper than a lot of other places serving meh crawfish. The grilled oysters are a favorite too and their food is always fresh! This is the go to place for crawfish, hands down! more

The gumbo was pretty good and full of protein, and the appetizers (including grilled oysters - weird when accustomed to eating them raw in the northeast) were definitely tasty. more

Our food came out nice and hot. We both substitued the fries for onion rings. I don't know what batter they use but it's nice and seasoned and not overly battered. I had the crawfish po-boy and it comes with I think thousand island dressing on toasted french bread with lettuce. The sandwhich was crammed with crawfish (yeah!) same with my friends it was crammed with shrimp. It's a good size sandwhich and I was able to eat only half of it. more
