Immortal Uncommon is a gem! 10/28/2007

Immortal Uncommon is a treasure beyond compare. With more than 10 successful years, the boutique?s owner, Caren Kreider continues to create a unique experience within her eclectic store. I always find a remarkable assortment of truly exceptional vintage clothing & accessories in addition to the racks upon racks of timeless contemporary fashions. Every piece, without exception, is in impeccable condition. Ms. Kreider has an astute eye for well-made construction, quality (mostly natural) material and exquisite lines. I recommend Immortal Uncommon to individuals who dress with a unique sense of style. Pros: Selection, Atmosphere, Service & Value more

umm..no. 6/9/2007

i don't know if the recommendations previously written about this place are really old and dated or something, but i was HIGHLY disappointed with this store. the clothes were tacky.. with quality comparable to the local goodwill shop but with a fraction of the selection and 50 times more expensive. the store owner was rude and inattentive...perhaps there were hidden treasures within the store to be found, but i have no idea because she ignored me and spent the entire length of my stay criticizing her overweight daughter-in-law with another customer. the clothes with more modern labels, like express or bebe, were trashy and the kinds of clothes retailers are trying to desperately sell off in the off-season.\r \r i am an avid shopper, and growing up in new york, i consider myself knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to vintage and consignment store shopping. this store was far below average. if you're looking for classy, timeless pieces and service (any kind of service would be nice...), then i would avoid this place at all costs. Cons: rude store keeper, bad selection more

Immortal Uncommon Resale 11/28/2006

This is my favorate consignment shop in Center City. It has an unusual collection of high end clothing and accessories. I have been coming here for years. Some of my best finds have come from this shop. The owner has a keen eye for quality and that is evident throughout the shop. more

Why I feel Immortal 6/26/2006

It is so rare that I encounter a store where I don't have to settle for what I can get. At this store I always get what I want, not just fabulous clothes but what I have envisioned in my mind eye. Since finding this store I don't shop anywhere else for clothes. I have found everything from perfect outfits for the opera, my new slinky dress, a beautiful gown, and casusal clothes. No one will ever be seen wearing what you are wearing. If you are not used to vintage shopping, Caren is the one to bring you into this wonderful, beautiful world where women dress to be remembered. more

One stop vintage shopping 5/6/2006

On my first visit to Immortal I spent hours looking at everything - afraid I might miss something spectacular. Since that day, I've been back too many times to mention. From perfect evening wear to funky coats and hats, this is the place. Don't be put off by the owners seriousness - she loves to help customers put outfits and 'looks' together. If you are new to vintage buying - this is your best first stop. February and Fall ""Bag Sale"" is unbelieveable. This is the only place to buy evening and cocktail wear. Pros: quality, variety, new gift items more

sislocks 12/27/2005

Went to find a lovely outfit for the new yyears eve ball tried on many things- loved the attention to detail of the staff and their overall helpfulness. We laughed as i went from Dolly Parton to Breakfast at Tifinny's. Ended up with an outfit that i love and nobody sold me on it. Pros: sales staff, bob mackey, furs more

A great find! 11/13/2005

I was referred here by a friend who happened to see an item I have been searching for. I emailed Caren, and she put the item aside for me. I went to look at it, and it was perfect. The store was fun to shop in, and Caren was a great help. She really was able to pick up on my style and show me some great stuff. She will also keep an eye out for ""wish list"" items for you. Lots of quality merchandise at great prices. A great lady and a fabulous store! more

Fashion advice- this is the place. 11/12/2005

I never knew that I needed a Vintage Persian Lamb Jacket, but now that I have it the void in my closet has been filled. The owner at Immortals can look at you, tell your size and your style better than you can yourself. This is the place to go if you have a big event in your future and don't want to look generic. more

Awesome Vintage Store 11/6/2005

I read some of the negative comments for Immortal and I highly disagree. I have purchased many gorgeous items that are vintage, designer, and great quality at a reasonable price. Not only is the merchandise of great variety, but the shopping experience in this quaint, little store is a pleasure. The owner is a very unique, eccentric, sincere lady whom I very much enjoy chatting with whenever I visit. She has a lot of good fashion advice to offer, very interesting to talk to, and is extremely pleasant. I highly recommend this store if you are interested in different, one of a kind, beautiful clothing and accessories. The store and the owner rock!!!! more

horrible lady 10/2/2005

I went to this store with a friend of mine and my sister and we were treated very poorly, the lady was EXTREMELY rude to us and treated us as though we were very beneath her. She told us a bunch of shirts in these bags were 10-15 dollars and when we said we liked a particular shirt she would bump up the price... telling us one used shirt was 47 dollars. She was rude and accused us of removing tags from clothing and she squished my friends flowers when she forced us to put our bags and such behind the counter. An overall BAD experience and I would NEVER recomend anyone to go there!!!! more

don't bother 8/13/2005

i just moved from NY and i'm a HUGE fan of vintage designer clothing and consignment shops. i checked out this place based on the other reviews . . . it was just not worth it. i saw one reasonably priced vintage pucci skirt, a size 2, and there was really nothing else good in the store. low ratio of designer vintage, and all of it was in weird sizes and dated rather than classic designs. the condition of the stuff was below average in my opinion. i'll never go back. Pros: convenient, inexpensive, quiet Cons: very little designer, musty, jumbled presentation more

A very nice vintage store 6/23/2005

I want to join previous reviewers. The store is pretty small, located on the second floor, 18th st. between Sansom and Wallnut st. A little bit hard to find. Lots of stuff there, nice stuff, very original and perfect if you want to stand out of the crowd but don't have big$$$ to visit Neiman Marcus. Although some things are not new, they are in decent condition, brand name clothing, accessories. I bought a pair of unworn looking PRADA shoes fairly cheap, and a party dress for about 30$ which fits as perfect as it was taylored for me. The owner/saleswoman is a German lady, tiny bit serious but very helpfull. She could tell your size by just looking as you. The store is decorated in vintage/european style with pictures of Marlene Dietrich and Aubrey Hepburn everywhere. Great shopping experience, great value, one-of-a-kind finds! Pros: inexpensive, brand name, original more

serendipity 2/27/2004

I almost don't want to share this discovery with everyone but the proprietor was so nice that I want to give her credit. I wandered in for the first time yesterday. The store is upstairs so I had never seen it before walking down the street. I got a bag full of designer suits, dresses, and tops for $35 because they were having a ""bag sale"" -- Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Tam, Banana Republic, BCBG, and more. Then I found a Max Studio new suit for $50, an urban outfitters top with tag still on it for $15, an Yves Saint Laurent belt for $5. I couldn't stop shopping. The proprietor loves Marlene Dietrich and the dressing room is decorated like an alter to her. more
