Best

We had never dined at Figlio before and were genuinely impressed. The host(s) were extremely friendly. We were even 20 minutes late due to traffic, but they still got us right to...

Worst

This place is fun. It's loud, especially in the bar area...but the fun is worth it. Personally i am a big fan of backasswards happy hour on Sun-Tues. I can get a plate of potatoes...

Hip? 12/17/2003

This place is hip? Maybe in the 80s. Or if you are from the suburbs. The food used to be good, has really gone downhill in the past two years. more

Stinky 9/1/2003

The last two times I have gone, I requested a non smoking table. Both times, they seated us, and within 20 minutes, a pack of smoking monkeys sat down down at the next table, sucking down cancer sticks like no tomorrow. It ruined the food and the evening. Was too late to get up and move to another stink-free table. Pros: Convenient Cons: No non smoking area more

Figlio my goodness 6/24/2003

This place is fun. It's loud, especially in the bar area...but the fun is worth it. Personally i am a big fan of backasswards happy hour on Sun-Tues. I can get a plate of potatoes and a glass of wine for 8 bucks. Dinner is always nice too. I recommend the pizzas and the carpaccio. Menu could use a little renovation and the entire place would use a good cleaning... Pros: Prompt Service, Party Atmosphere, Stiff Drinks Cons: Loud more

Good food, excellent people watching 5/1/2003

The food was good. The bucatini was prepared fine, as was the other seafood selected at the table. Good martinis. Average wine menu. We had a party of four & were seated at a table for five & we were very cozy. I couldn't imagine squeezing more in there. If you're looking for a nice night out with good food & people watching, then you'll enjoy your experience. If you're looking for something a bit more reserved & quiet, look elsewhere, as the place is quite busy on the weekends & VERY LOUD. Pros: people watching, good food, nice drink selections Cons: noisy, crowded more

Bellisimo 4/7/2003

This old Uptown standby has nearly been forgotten as newer, themed restaurants have set up camp in the area but it is still good at what it sets out to do. Not a huge menu but the selections are carefully thought out and the specials are usually inspired. I have had good success with any dish containing fish/seafood. Last time I had capellini with shrimp and crawfish tails and was happy. Prices range from moderate to above average. Decent but expensive drink menu and wine list. Stays open late which is a great alternative to fast food after the bars. Pros: food, sidewalk dining, late hours Cons: cost, doesn't change more

I like it 3/4/2003

This restaurant has really good food. I enjoy the bread they serve before the meal. Pros: good food, reasonable Cons: pay for parking more

good for drinks, not for dinner 11/8/2002

I liked the ambience and loved the martinis. The offer a broad range of martinis for only $6 which is cheap compared to Chino's and Martini Blu. The food however was just so-so except for the eggs dish. I've had fish and pasta there and wasn't impressed. On a Friday night without a reservation at 7:30 it took 40 minutes to get seated and there was no room to sit in the bar and waitstaff was slow. On a Saturday at 8:30 there was plenty of seating - so service and seating is hit or miss. I wouldn't go back there to eat but definitely for a martini. Pros: martinis!, ambience Cons: bad food, expensive meals more

YUK 10/10/2002

Figlio's used to be one of my favorite restuarants. We were there Friday evening for dinner and I could have done better at McDonalds. I order the shrimp, pesto pasta. I am sure that the shrimp were bad. I have never tasted such fishy shrimp in my whole life. I literally only ate a few bites. I know I should have complained but I really was in shock. I talked to some people at work about it and they said they had had the same experience in the last several months. So maybe there is new chef or a new food vendor but whatever it is, go back to the way you used to be. I for one know that I will not come back, and my co-workers echoed that thought. Its too bad, it used to be a great restaurant. more

Don't pass by Figlio's.... 8/27/2002

...without stopping in, for a beverage, or a meal. You'll find a very pleasant view, from ""inside, looking out"", (through the ceiling-to-floor glass windows) or from their sidewalk-cafe, which is located near Lake St. & Hennepin Ave. S. The casual atmosphere overrides a SUPERB menu - comprised of refreshing combinations of vegetables and meats, to please every palate - appetizers, to entrees. The staff are attentive, and pleasant. The prices are quite moderate. It's a MUST ""DO"". more

Great dining & decor 8/26/2002

During my visits the food has been consistently great, nearly excellent. However, service at times was atrociously slow. more

Figlio- Pa-leeez 7/25/2002

Figlio goes on despite itself. It's mostly about location. It's just so damn handy. Over the past ten years it's menu has barely changed just the removal of every item -I've- ever enjoyed there. Is it a food cost issue or lack of daring? I don't know. As for the staff; decided less representative of ""hip uptown"" it used to be- then again Uptown itself isn't as ""Uptown"" as it used to be. I blame ""Gap"". If you want to people watch at Figlio- make sure to sit on the side walk- because the hip folks are outside of the joint or they're slipping into Figlio's hipper sister restaurant- Chino Latino. The one praise I will give to Figlio is that they are consistant. You always kind of know what to expect- and if they screw up- they make it right. Customer satisfaction keeps them in the game. Pros: consistant, customer service Cons: loud, boring menu, crowded seating more

Reliably good 7/25/2002

The food here is reliably good and the people watching is consistently interesting. I enjoy the portions -- feels like you are getting your money's worth, even though entrees are expensive. The main dinig room ahs surprisingly good acoustics for such an angular and chrome locale. more

The place to be seen 5/21/2002

Dress up in your best blacks and head to figlio Restaurant and Bar. Sure it's noisy, but this place is to be seen by the ""It"" crowd. The food is delish. Garlic, tomatoes and wood oven grilled pizzas. This is perfect for the handsome date who is not much in the conversation department. Pros: Trendy People, Great Pizzas, New York attitude Cons: Noisy, Fast paced, Busy more
