Best

Was trying to dine at Houston's for the first time and didn't realize the name has changed and is now Bartlett's (the owner of Houston's for 20 years) until I made reservations. ...

Worst

My girlfriend recommended this place. I will never go back. My complaint is the Value of the food. The food was not bad but $25 for a 8 Oz. ribeye, baked potato, and salad. The bi...

Yummy food 10/31/2005

Great roasted chicken! They have great sides as well. The atmosphere is great for my parents (60-ish) but it's not the best place to take babies or kids. You almost feel like you should be dressed up to go there. The food is very good though and the waitstaff is professional. more

First, I'd recommend dressing up a little bit more than the average jeans. This place sells top-notch food. I had "fall of the bone" ribs, and the name really says it all. It was juicy and incredibly tender. Others who I went with ordered pork chops and the steak, and those two dishes looked and tasted awesome, too. I'd say it's a great place to take someone for a special occasion. more

Wonderful 8/17/2005

The last time I went to Houston's, my entire party enjoyed great food with fast service. I ordered the pork chops which were as big or bigger than my head (needless to say I did not finish it). There desserts will make you want to leave room for them. I enjoyed there ice cream on top of a warm brownie. Every time i go out with a group of people, it is one of the first places i recommend. Completely worth the prices (which are not that bad). more

casual upscale steakhouse 8/16/2005

Houston's is one of those restaurants that you can't judge by its appearance. If you thought that it was too intimidating to walk into a restaurant that you can't see into, you ought to really venture inside. The restaurant seems high-class, with sharply dressed servers and dim lighting; however, you'll find that the people dining are dressed quite casually. So despite it's appearance, you can choose your attire as you desire. The food ranges from salads to steaks. Always take the advice of your server and order the special of the day (if it is to your liking) because you simply can't go wrong. They also have a comprehensive wine list. You're allowed to taste anything if you are looking to order a glass of it. It's a great place to take a date. more

  • It’s the same national chain franchise – Houston’s – that you’ve grown to love the last 20 years, but newly named and improved. Original owner Tim Bartlett bought this franchise and has kept most of the menu items the same, but is now preparing them with locally-sourced ingredients. The kitchen is led by Chef Arik Skot Williams who is using herbs and other ingredients from his garden in his recipes. They are famous for their French Dip and Barbecue Pork Ribs. The atmosphere is warm and clubby with a front row view to the open kitchen. Consistency, quality and service are the name of the game at this proven favorite.
