Editorial review from Citysearch 4/11/2013

Totally blown away by this tour and by the generosity of Scott and Sandi who run it. They went out of their way to accommodate my group and even catered the tour to our interests (they knew we were in town with a touring production so they took us to some haunted theatrical hotspots!!! Awesome!!!). Sandi knows her Richmond history like the back of her hand and was an incredible guide for an awesome evening of spooky stories from the city's past. Highly, highly recommended!!! more

Not worth the time/$ for me 5/13/2012

Went on Saturday. Was expecting something more than what I got. . . Our guide was just dresses in plain clothes and we walked to a few sites and she told some REALLY boring stories. All in all this thing is lame, maybe my 80 year old grandmother would have enjoyed it, but this is not for the young or young at heart. Too much money spent to be bored out of my mind. In conclusion. Don't go on a Haunts of Richmond tour, see a scary movie instead. more

Not very good. Would not reccommend for young people 9/4/2011

I attended this tour recently and brought along my wife and teenage sons. My first impression when we arrived was that they were closed as the front door was not open yet and there was no signage stating that the tour group was even located there. We finally entered and were greeted by our guide and some sort of other attendant. We waited for about 40 minutes for other guests to arrive and I would say all together we were a group of 11 people on a Saturday night. Our tour began at the Museum and our tour guide was very nice, but that was the only redeeming quality. The whole time my two boys were asking me when it was over, I can tell you know that anyone under 40 will probably NOT enjoy themselves. There was another young couple that were on their phones the whole time. I found the history to be interesting but the whole experience was kind of bland and I probably would not reccomend this group. I think that this may be something right up the alley of a book worm or civil war buff, but not something for the public at large. I think that they may build this up to be more than what it is, which is their downfall... perhaps if they market to a more narrow audience they will avoid such a bored looking crowd, but hey what do i know. more

Haunts of BORING 6/29/2010

So I'm kinda new to Richmond and I love ghost stories so I figured a ghost tour would be a great way to learn about Richmond....NOT if you go on Haunts of Richmond's tours. Pub Crawls maybe because then at least I'd be drinking. First off, you don't know how or where to buy tickets...they are not professional at all! Then when you get there you expect at least someone interesting to be giving the tour...NOT with Haunts. Just a dumpy, weird tour guide who had a REALLY annoying voice...I mean COME ON! Then the tour is way too short for what they want you to pay and the stories put you to BED!!!! Anyways, I later was told to go on the Eerie Nights tour by a friend...and let me just say EERIE NIGHTS PUTS HAUNTS TO SHAME. They were in costume, with cool makeup and they're stories were actually SCARY. Unlike Haunts. Spend the money on Eerie Nights. Thanks for the advice James, you were right...and to think I almost gave up on Ghost Tours. Pros: was outside Cons: the guides!!! more

What a let down! 2/25/2010

So I read some reviews and despite everything I thought I'd give Haunts of Richmond a chance. Boy was that stupid of me! The tour guides are dry as toast, there is nothing fun about the tour, and you only see a few sites for way too much money. I was hoping for something entertaining and interactive, but sadly all I got was a waste of money and time. It's overly advertised for what you get and it's time for someone else to give Good ghost tours in this city. Please help us from Haunts of Richmond. Until that happens I'm going else where for my tours!!! Pros: n/a Cons: the tour more

Great for ghost enthusiasts and history lovers! 1/8/2010

I have taken this tour several times over the past few years. These guides have been around for a while and know a ton about Richmond's history. The cool thing is that they not only get the history right, but the stories they tell are really believable. The have details that just sell the stories. They aren't cheesy, trying to distract you with actors or anything, just good stories about cool places in Richmond. And they've been around long enough to swap out stories so you can go back and you'll get new stories. Totally a great thing to do! Pros: They get the history right, stories sound true Cons: nothing more

Not worth the time/$ 1/4/2010

I went on the Haunts tour at the end of October. I have to say I had a bad time. The tour was less than entertaining. This company will need to change things or I don't see them lasting much longer Pros: got some exercise Cons: bad experience all around more

Ghost Tour is a BORE! 9/27/2009

My mother and I went on this tour thinking it would be like ghost tours we had taken in the past in NC. and GA. Pros: you lose weight on the walk Cons: the overall experience more

Best Tour in Richmond!!! 9/10/2009

I have been going on this tour since I moved to Richmond and it is so awesome! I've always reviewed it on their ticket sales server but never here, but I'm certainly glad to! This tour is insightful, fun and educational. There's a lot of stuff I'd take my parents to when they came up for a visit and this tour is certainly at the top of my list! I couldn't help but read the other reviews, and I gotta say, I hope there isn't another tour in October. It would probably rip off what these guys are already doing and it will be horribly tacky. No one likes tacky, except for Christmas. Take the Haunts of Richmond Ghost Tour, especially the pub crawls! You won't be sorry! Pros: Great Stories, Great Fun Cons: Traffic on Broad Street more

Creepy, delicious fun! 9/3/2009

We visited places I walk past all the time, and found out not only that they're haunted, but stories about the people who used to live there! Our guide had so much energy and was easy to talk to--told us extra stories as we walked. Everyone on the tour had fun--kids and adults. Got some great pictures, too. HIGHLY recommended. Can't wait to try the haunted pub crawl! more

NOT WORTH THE $ BAD BAD . . . BAD 5/16/2009

To start off our tour guide was hard to hear and kind of wierd. Our walk consisted of going to only a handful of sights in the bottom while our guide simply spat out information about the history of the building and a short ghost story. There was no showmanship, there was no creepy factor, and to be honest it was quite boring. . . I have been on a few ghost tours that were awesome, this was not one of them. I will be on the look out for a new attraction in october. . . hopefully haunts of richmond WONT remain as the only tour being offered in Richmond. Pros: The night was pretty Cons: everything else. more
