Overpriced, minimal slection, poor quality with fancy Euro names. Selective service like a car dealer. Move on!

Great Selection & 5 STAR Service 9/12/2011

I had heard from my friends and co-workers with children and / or infants that haggis mcbaggis had an excellent selection for great shoes, as well as great service. Plus I'm a fan of supporting our local small business owner VS big box retail. However, I won't sacrifice value and customer service. My back to school buying experience was absolutely amazing. Their selection of great shoes exceeded my expectations. Their friendly staff was awesome. They were pretty busy, so I did have to wait a few minutes, but their staff were clearly engaged in making sure all of their customers were well attended to. Long story short, I'm sold on haggis mcbaggis and would recommend them to anyone who appreciates value, a great inventory selection, and customer service. more

Great Selection/Poor Customer Service 11/27/2010

On November 7th 2010, I went into Haggis McBaggis to purchase shoes for my young children. My eldest son was able to get a pair of winter shoes that were in stock. My younger son was sized and the retail clerk communicated that the shoe was not in stock and would have to be ordered. I clearly communicated that the shoes had to arrive prior to Thanksgiving Day so he could be dressed for the event. The clerk communicated that the shipment would arrive within 7 days of purchase and she would notify us when it arrived. Approximately a week later (November 14th) on the way back from work I decided to stop in and obtain my sons shoes. The clerk had not called yet so I assumed it was just an oversight on the customer service end as I was expecting a call from her with an update on the shoe status. I was told the shoes had not arrived yet but to check back in a few days. Approximately a week later (November 21st) my husband decided to stop in with my son to obtain status on the shoes. At that time the same clerk communicated that there was a mistake that had occurred with the wrong shoe size ordered and that the shoes would have to be ordered. She was unable to give a “status time frame” because she was unable to contact the owner. The shoes never arrived for our Thanksgiving event, three weeks from point of order. On November 27th I decided to call the establishment to express my disappointment and frustration with this situation and the fact that my son still did not have his shoes. In fact I communicated that I was on my way to purchase shoes for my son at Nordstrom. I spoke with a lovely young woman that was extremely apologetic to the circumstances and acknowledged my concerns. Approximately fifteen minutes later as I was heading towards Nordstrom I received a phone call from the original sales clerk that took our original order. This conversation was handled in a very different manner and as I concluded our conversation – I was furious with the lack of response and customer service approach. She stated that she ""took the order size down correctly"" but it was the owner that misread the size and ordered the wrong size. Furthermore she stated that she had told my husband she was unable to give a status because ""the owners were in Hawaii and she had no way of reaching them for order status"". When I told her that I didn't give a damn that the owners were in Hawaii - my son still did not have his shoes (Thanksgiving came and went) and I was no longer going to use their establishment - she said “Well we are not perfect – we make mistakes - and we understand if you don’t want to utilize us anymore that is your choice”. While they may have a great selection - customer service is critical to sustaining any long term customer. This experience was so disappointing that I felt it was prudent for anyone considering patronizing this establishment to receive honest and fair feedback from a customer that has been supporting this establishment for more than five years. more

Expected more, but still nice 2/3/2010

I love a huge selection and was expecting more based on what I was told about this place. That being said, they do know there stuff and stock quality goods. Those goods will cost you, maybe even more that they should, but still a solid place to shop. Pros: Style Cons: price, selection more

Nice local kiddy shop, high price, min. inventory. 1/1/2009

Minimal selection, overpriced, a local Yuppiedumb shop, go online or Kmart for better quality. The current economy will most likely end this operation. Sorry, but that is just the way it is. more

Great customer service and shoes selections 8/9/2008

I was an out of towner happened to be in the area. Love this place!!! The store has so many selections for both my son and daughter. Although the price is a little bit on the higher end for kids' shoes, the staff's friendly service and the shoes' quality sure offset that. more

the ONLY shoe store for kids in portand! 6/25/2006

Forget Nordstrom...you have to check this store out for the absolute COOLEST shoes for your baby! I've never seen such a vast selection of unique footwear for babies. Great accessories too. The staff went above and beyond in finding the perfect pair of shoes for my daughter (all right the perfect THREE pairs of shoes). I even found a pair of NAOT shoes for myself! Make sure to check out their yearly sale...up to 50% on all their inventory! Pros: huge selection of cool baby shoes Cons: limited parking more

Haggis is Great for my Child!! 12/4/2005

The staff at Haggis McBaggis have gone above & beyond to fit my daughter in the perfect shoes and they always have something fun & funky for her to feel special - thank you for offering an alternative to 'boring' for our kids in Portland. Pros: funk, fun, specialized attention Cons: too far away, open in Portland! more

LOVE this store!! 11/19/2005

This is a wonderful example of what a small buisness should be like. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, the store is bright and well stocked and the atmosphere is fun and light. I stop in every month or so to pick up gifts for newborns and shoes for my kids. I even get my birthday and christmas gifts here. They have a wonderful and unique selection. Pros: Atmosphere, Unique selection, Knowledgeable staff more

a cool place for kids 11/11/2005

Today I was lucky enough to make my annual trip to Haggis for my son's shoes, it's a treat to go there. What wonderful people, the staff truly cares about the comfort of your child--not only in shoe size but the experience of buying the shoes. My very first visit there took two hours, not because they are slow...it just is a nice place to hang out with your kid and look at shoes. Some may find their prices high, but because they have such incredible customer service I feel the extra price is worth it. I would rather spend the money on a more expensive pair of shoes knowing they have sized him correctly and taken the time to really help us chose the best shoe for his needs. It is one of the best stores in Portland, in my humble opinion! Pros: They like kids!, Original attire, Smart staff more

The most kid-loving store ever 10/14/2004

I have become a regular of this fantastic kid's store in Westmoreland (Portland). This is the only children's store where I feel the staff truly likes my kids. They are so helpful and friendly, and their shoes and clothes and hats and toys all have that wonderful, quirky sensibility that says: these folks LOVE kids. The whole store is set up to let me shop while my seven and three year old are content. It's the only store my kids get excited about going to. Doesn't that say it all? Pros: Great Prices, Fabulous Shoes, Customer Service more
