NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/3/2007

This entire hotel is nasty there is nothing but crackheads and prostitutes sworming around this establishment. Yes it is near some clubs of down town Portland however I would much rather stay further away from these clubs and have to communite then stay in this hotel. I would never have thought the Grove Hotel looked the way it did considering the picture online was ok, very misleading. I would never reccomend this establishment to my worst enemy. Pros: Near clubs in Downtown Portland Cons: Crackheads and Prostitutes more

I would rather sleep in my car! 6/24/2007

If the Grove is what passes for 4 stars I hate to see what 3 gets you. The motel 6 must be a solid 5 star establishment. I would rather sleep in my car any day, at least I know how clean it is! Pros: NONE- possible location, it is downtown. Cons: I don't have enough time more

Editorial
  • The Scene
This rundown resident hotel is located in a downtown neighborhood that is home to some of Portland's wildest nightclubs. The patrons are mostly permanent or weekly residents. Only very well-seasoned travelers, who have pretty much seen it all, should consider checking in.

    The Details
The rooms don't get any more basic: a bed, dresser and sink. If you're lucky, you might score a bathroom, although odds are you won't. Only half-a-dozen of the 70 rooms have a private bath, and those are usually filled with long-term visitors. The hotel is located on one of downtown's busiest, noisiest streets. This is an ideal location for starving out-of-town musicians who have a gig booked at an Old Town nightclub--it's better than sleeping in the van.
