It's an OK place and everyone there is friendly and seems to want to help - until you have a problem, that is, then they tend to pass the buck and ignore the concern. I would NEVER recommend getting a crown at Green Apple. I had a crown done at Green Apple a while ago and had problems with it from the beginning (it fell out three times). It finally stayed in after the third visit, but did not fit well, so I had the crown redone at another dental office and have had no further problems. Since insurance won't cover getting the same tooth crowned, I asked Green Apple to reimburse me for some of the out-of-pocket expense. They've given me the run around and have not returned my calls. more

Dr. McNaughton is awesome!!! I had a connective tissue graft done by her and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I sat down in that chair and felt extremely comfortable in her care. The procedure was quick and she has such a good personality that I actually really enjoyed the appointment! The most important thing is that I healed quickly, and continue to see improvement in a receding gum line that was getting worse over time. Green Apple Dental rocks!!!! more

I came in for the $19 exam and x-ray not expecting too much from a dentist from previous experiences with other dental offices but this is unlike any dental offic I have been to. With the paraffin wax hand dip, ipods to listen to, and aromatherapy on your temples? Very nice! I was so relaxed I dozed off while I was waiting to see the dentist. Dr Kim was very nice, competent and helpful. He took the time to explain what he was looking for and showed me what he found. Needless to say I had a few cavities but I appreciate the reasonble rates they offer so I can smile again. I will definitely go back again and feel comfortable recommending the downtown location to friends. more

My wife and I went to the downtown office for a checkup. Dr Kim provided us with treatment plan that suited our budget and needs and they're very professional. Nice quite place. Friendly staff. Everything so far very promising. more

Absolutely excellent! I love that Green Apple makes my visits as asthetically pleasing as possible - I can choose to have a parafin hand treatment, aromatherapy, music, and a massaging chair. Also, they have early hours, so I can get my appointment in before work and not have to take time away from the office. more

I came into the appointment very nervous, as I'd never had a cavity filled before. The dental assistant made me feel right and home and very comfortable. I appreciated her gentle nature and honest disposition. I think the experience would have been a lot different if she weren't there. Dr Bird was also really nice and personable, he seemed genuinely concerned about my teeth. Overall I give Green Apple Dental two thumbs up. more

I recommend Dr. Kang for fillings and root canal. I was procrastinating and knew that I needed to go to have a filling done but did not have pain until one night I got a terrible headache from the tooth. I called in to get in immediately and almost went to the emergency room. The pain was so horrific that I didn't think straight. Dr. Kang and his receptionist was so nice to get me in the office immediately and took great care of the tooth and myself. He knew that I was so worried about it that he called to check up on my status the same evening. It was a surprise that the whole tooth drama could have been avoided if I had gone in earlier and not worried so much about the procedure. I will not let this happen in the future. I feel so much better now that I know it's not horrible to go in to see the dentist. I give them all gold stars. more

Such a great office!! My old dentist retired, so I decided to try this office per the recommendation of a friend. I just love the atmosphere of the office and in essence the customer service. Dr. Kim is great and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The hygienist was also so gentle, which is a major plus. I'm so happy I found a new dentist! more

Best experience I've had at a dentist since I was a kid...albeit it was just for a cleaning, but everyone made me feel comfortable. The office setting was very relaxing and everyone was very nice. They were willing and able to squeeze in a cleaning after my exam and x-rays even though it was close to closing time. The bonus was the hand-dipped paraffin wax treatment for my cracked hands! more

They have a great staff from the front desk all the way to the dentist. Being located downtown... It's great that they validate parking. From the hand wax treatment to the massaging chair it calms your nerves of being ""at the dentist"" They have made me wish that my insurance would cover 12 cleaning a year. more

I am very sincere in my report to say that my last vist to the dentist was that of no changes, no new allergies, no change of husband or lack there of. I did learn that there was a very good dentist .He was very nice. So, I was relieved to know I was not showing up with a mouthful of issues and I of course did not want him to be the one to tell me that I had them. Thankful for no fillings to be fixed or cavity issues of any sort. more

Too bad my company does not provide dental insurance but one of my coworkers recommended Green Apple Dental. I was able to join their membership plan and got a huge discount on some fillings that I was putting off for the last couple years. Great staff and doctors, so happy I found this place. more

I have a very ""anti-dentite"" personality and I have to say I avoid the dentist at all costs. The reason I am posting this is to say that the people here are very very accommodating to people like myself. It also helped that Dr. Kim has a great sense of humor and did his best to keep me distracted from my fears. I can't say that I look forward to going to the dentist again but when I do I'll definitely book another appointment with Dr. David. more

I truly am a dental phobic person. I do not enjoy the thought of even visiting the office just to take xrays or for an easy cleaning and polishing. If I have to go to the dentist, then it is becauase I had already been thinking about going for over a year. That being said, I now did visit Green Apple Dental and think that dental offices have changed since I last visited them in the past. There still is that awkward feeling of laying back in the chair while the dentist pokes around at your teeth and writes all the concerns down but I did feel that it was not as long and arduous as I had remembered. My visit was mostly a check up and then a cleaning on a seperate day. The hygienist is very good and extremely gentle so that was a positve aspect definately. more

Fantastic Experience 7/15/2011

I found Green Apple Dental through Citysearch and I have to agree with all the positive reviews I found here. The staff is also friendly and fun to joke with. The office itself is clean, nice and feels more like going to a house than a dentist's office. Dr. Bird is very friendly, really listens to all your concerns, and takes the time to explain everything to you. The prices were very inexpensive as well - which was a big concern for someone like me who does not have dental insurance. I'm so happy to have found a great new dentist! more

Hands down, best dentist in PDX 6/9/2011

Amazing place!! After going to a number of crack pot dentists when I first moved to Portland, Green Apple Dental was a fresh change. I would recommend this office to anyone in a heartbeat for general dentistry. Thumbs up goes to how quickly I was able to get an appointment! I got an appointment a few days after I called! That's unheard of, most times it takes 2wks-a month after you call, so I was excited and impressed about that;)! They are extremely professional, good with reminders, and all around helpful in explaining insurance, billing, etc. Their office is clean and nice. Also, they have weekend appointments!! Otherwise, the cleanings are nicely done. They do not try to sell you on procedures you do not need. I've had multiple Dr.s over the year and have seen no difference in quality between them. I think Dr. Kang is extremely sensitive to making sure to select good people to staff his office. If this is in your hood or you just plane hated your prior Dr. as I did, go here for a more positive experience. more
