Grace Hair Salon

On the advice of my sister who gets her hair done here, i decided to give Grace a try. I had been going to the same stylist for 3 years and was getting inceasingly unhappy with my hair. I went to Joy at Grace, who is new to the salon, and I got the best cut and color I've had in YEARS. She really listened to what I was hating about my hair - years of highlights had made it one big chunk of blonde and it seemed to keep getting lighter and lighter - Joy transformed my brassy blonde nightmare into more natural looking highlights with more of my darker natural color woven in. I LOVE IT! The salon is in a great location, and like i said prior; hip but not TOO hip. Very nice people and great products and service. Thanks Joy! more

I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE Grace Hair Salon! Everyone was friendly and helpful and they made my experience extremely pleasant. I have been to many hair salons in and around the Portland area and I have never been this satisfied. I got someone who is new to Grace, named Joy. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She knew exactly what she was doing and she was very focused and determined. I warned her early on that I am a hard person to please, but she just listened well and gave me a PERFECT cut and color. I had over 6 inches cut off of my hair and she gave me a beautiful color I could not be happier with. Keep up the good work! I will be back soon... I'm a latin girl with an african background, or what I like to call ""my african roots"". Colin was the first person I've met that told me: ""you can have any look you want, no matter what kind of hair you have"". He reallly knows what he was saying. Not only do I have the BEST highlits I've ever had... my hair has never looked this amazing. Who needs to wait for their hair to grow when you have Colin and his expertise in hair extensions. Collin Curtis is the best stylist/colorist in PDX! I moved to Portland over a year ago and as you know, one of the hardest things about moving to a new town is finding a new hair stylist. Thank goodness for CitySearch! I heard about Collin from his glowing Citysearch reviews and decided to give him a try. Fast forward a year later and I'm a loyal, satisfied customer. Collin's witty and entertaining, very knowledgable about the business, has a chemistry background which comes in handy with color and chemical work and he truly cares about his clientele. He had a devoted following in New Orleans and I am sure he will continue to receive the same rave reviews in PDX. more

I recently went to Grace salon after reading some reviews on City-search. I called an ask several questions regarding the experience level of the staff. I've had numerous bad hair results in the past, so I'm a bit gun shy about new stylist. I was booked with Collin and after meeting him, I was so glad I was. Not only did he listen to my concerns about my hair. He was not the least bit fazed by some of my demands. He took the time to explain what I could and couldn't achieve with my hair. Much to my satisfaction, he also told me take a minute to think about what I really wanted and not to settle for what I thought I could have. I have never had a stylist who was this detail oriented and fast to boot. I'll definitely be back. more

This morning I went to Grace for the first time. After finding street parking remarkably easy (especially for a salon in The Pearl), I stepped into a hip, urban, yet unpretentious space. Pros: Easy parking, great product line, completely unpretentious staff more

I was excited to find someone to cut my hair on a consitant basis, knowing that I would never fear going to get my hair done, or be left to attempt to see the back of my head and use my own dull scissors. I love the the photographs, art, and atmosphere, very comfortable, classy and yet down to earth staff, not to mention all the products available. I've referred people in the past and I'll refer people again. Aaron is a total sweetheart and definately pays attention to the long process of growing out my hair and explains the simple styling tips I'll need in the futre for glorious locks. Love the locations and the huge windows. Tell everyone!!!! more

I went to Aaron based on the reviews I read here. I ended up with a terrible cut and color. I was really surprised by how inexperienced Aaron appeared to be. He couldn't even style my hair afterwards. My hair isn't difficult to work with either. Nice salon and Aaron was a nice person, but there is no way I am going back. I have short hair, and have a really hard time finding a great, consistent stylist. I have tried many in Portland. Then I found Eve. I always love my hair, it grows out great, and I get many compliments. I have had many cuts from here, and today I got color. Once again, she did an awesome job. The prices are very reasonable, and the service is outstanding. They send reminder calls, which is great. Eve has a great personality, and is just a great stylist. Yes, the title of this review is very cheesy, but my thoughts of Grace Salon are very sincere. They have a very capable crew... extremely willing to allow me to try new things (and encouraging in the times I need it). Every time I go, I get honest opinions and helpful suggestions. I actually feel important when I get my hair cut there. Highly recommended. Oh yes, and Jodi rocks! Pros: They take their time with your hair. more

Grace is as awesome as it's hip decor, free drinks, and well-groomed staff suggests. I went into Grace with ye olde ""black and tan""--hair I'd bleached the hell out of and subsequently given up on, and then I'd added to my misery by allowing 2"" dark brown roots to grow in. I had no idea what to do about my ugly head (""hats"" had been the answer for several weeks), but Aaron had plenty of ideas, and the mission I decided to execute--bright red--seemed to me like a particularly difficult one. Well, Aaron did accomplish it, and, not to brag, but the result looked utterly smashing, and even though I had a difficult head of hair to work with, Aaron was so patient, mixing colors and then coloring over the whole thing again, that we ended up, miraculously, with the EXACT color I had wanted. AND the cut, THE CUT! Looked fantastic day-of, but more to the point, looked fantastic loooooong after our appointment, which is far more than I can say for any haircut I've ever had before. The color, too, lasted much, much longer and stayed truer than any reds of my past. Pros: great staff, great products, great cut, great color, great place Cons: They don't do housecalls. But that's just an assumption. I didn't ask. more

I made an appt. with Aaron after reading reviews on citysearch. The hair cut I got was one of the best I've gotten. He really listens to what you want out of your trip to the salon. He took his time and got my cut exactly how I wanted it. I have curly hair, but I wear it straight too, and the cut works GREAT for both. To note, he started an apprentice under the man who owns the salon.. so he asks him a question if he wants to confirm something.. which is great. As an added note, the price was more reasonable than most!! Pay him a visist! more

So after 6 months of being broke I finally make an appointment to get my hair cut. I showed Eve pictures of how I wanted it ,I always hated going to different salons and telling them and showing them and them never getting it right. The salon is so open and I love all the windows and artwork on the walls, not to mention the seats were really comfy.After getting me some tea I jump right into getting my hair washed it was very relaxing water just at the right temp. As I'm sitting there I trust Eve with my hair and feel good about what she's doing with it. We talk and talk. Finally all done. All I have to say is best haircut I have had.She then shows me what I needed for my hair to maintain it and you know what she was right. My hair is very very happy and so am I.They even have umbrellas to leave with if it's raining how cute. Pros: Good prices,nice staff,open salon,drinks! Cons: ...? more

I have crazy curly head hair, which is notoriously hard to cut. I have hairs which are frizzy and go every which way when they are short. When they are long they are wavy and curly and frizzy. Because of this I can never get a good cut. Well, it turns out, never say never, because Aaron at Grace gave me a damn nice haircut. I will definitely be returning. I would highly recommend for anyone in Oregon. more

This is the best salon in the Portland area. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable and they are truly experts and artists at the same time. I would recommend this salon to anyone wishing to obtain an amazing haircut, color, etc. They listen to what you want, at the same time making wonderful, helpful suggestions. I have been going to Jodi for a few years now, and she is, by far, the best stylist I have ever been to. She has great ideas and is such a professional. Grace is a fantastic choice for your next trip to a salon. All their stylists are highly trained, and you will definitely leave feeling good about your hair. I've been getting my hair cut by Eve for some time now, and she always cuts it just perfect. She's their newest stylist, and one of the best there is. Ever since I went to Grace to have Aaron correct my atrocious hair disaster I have been a loyal fan. Their prices are super reasonable and they use this awesome product line that I haven't seen anywhere else. The staff is super cool and friendly and they all have fantastic hair, which is a very good sign! I've had my hair colored and cut there several times and have been extremely happy with the results. more

Hip but not at all pretentious. They have a realy nice space with fantastic music and local art. The staff is friendly especially Aaron who gave me a cut I really like, even the next day when I had to style it myself. I have pretty difficult hair, a heterogeneously curly mess, so it?s nice to have a stylist I can trust. Only problem I live 2000 miles away. Next time I?m in PDX though I plan to make an appointment at Grace. Pros: lots more
