Cheap. Positives end here. 7/3/2006

I got the room in Tropicana much cheaper than any other place on the Strip would offer... But the place had ups and downs. Ups: - good price; - convenient location; - clean room, lotsa mirrors all around (above the bed too); - oversize bath; Downs: - The line for check-in is long. No, Lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-on-n-n-ngg-g-g-g. If it takes you less than 45 minutes to check in, you're lucky (and you're probably checking in at 4am). - they charge $2 on top of the room price for 'any in-room calls'. I showed them my cell phone with a national plan and told them they can take the phone out of my room, for all I cared. They still made me pay $2. WHY?!?! - no coffeemaker in the room. - gym isn't free (that's the first hotel that did that to me!) - In order to get to your room, you have to navigate through a casino floor, which requires the dead reckoning skill of ancient polynesians: nothing indicates where anything is, and there's a heavy smoke all around. more

Good Location, Needs Updating 6/12/2006

Compared to many other hotels on the Strip, you can see from the outside that the Tropicana needs some help, or a date with the dynamite. There are some cool features, like the swim up blackjack table in the pool, and the location. The Tropicana is located close to the MGM, Mandalay, Hooters, NYNY, Luxor and Excaibur. The casino layout is very tight to walk through and very confusing. For the right price, it could be worth staying here. They really should take some ques from the Tropicana Atlantic City on how to update the place! more

Wouldn't stay there again. 4/15/2006

I have now been to quite a few hotels on the strip, and I have to say that all of the others were nicer then the Tropicana. The prices were good, I agree, but you can get the same price at other strip hotels, where the rooms are nicer. I might feel this way because I stayed in one of the older rooms, but it was small, and didn't feel as nice as the other hotels I've stayed at. more

Good Price for the Location 4/8/2006

We recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas. We stayed in the Tropicana Hotel and Casino. You can't beat the price for a hotel on the strip! We were in walking distance from many of the mega-hotels. The pool is fantastic and features a swim-up black-jack table. The rooms are a bit outdated, but in good condition. I only wish that the ceilings in the casino were higher as the place was very smoky! more

Middle ground here 2/9/2006

the rooms and the decor throughout the hotel definitely help you understand why they named this place the Tropicana. I feel ike I am in an Elvis movie. LOL! It works if you want to be in an area with better hotels in close proximity. But for some reason, some of their restaurants are better than the hotel would let on. the casino doesnt' require as much play as others to get comps, so that might work for those that enjoy the free stuff. more

Hard to beat for the price 11/2/2005

I stayed here the time before last in Vegas, and although it's nothing fancy, who needs more than a clean bed in Vegas in all reality? It's cheap, in a great place on the strip and a great meeting place for getting the night started. I can only imagine what it was like back in the day, but with new hotels like the Wynn and Bellagio, it really is showing its age in comparison. more

Yikes 8/29/2005

Old and mildewey, and severely overshadowed by all of the neighbors who have sprouted up around it, this is a hotel whos time has come... to be demolished. Not much for the passerby on the strip to see or do, and the garden rooms have nothing on motel six. Our room was dirty, bug infested, short sheeted, and stained from head to toe. The hotel was gracious enough to refund our money, but the rooms are more expensive than they're worth, and that's with the refund. Don't even stop in on your way somewhere else. more

Tropicana (not the juice) 8/27/2005

Another one of the Las Vegas casino giants. All with its own personality. I think What the hotel is best known for (especially with the people who dont actually stay there) is the big wheel. Dont forget to try your luck on the big wheel at the entrance. Spin it and see what happens. You can win some tickets to a show and some other cool prizes. I once won a ticket to the magic show. You can also get the ticket to get a deck of Tropicana cards at guest services (everyone gets those.) The casino is just like all the rest. Rooms are pretty good although they could be better. overall the experience is pleasurable. more

A part of history. 8/22/2005

The Tropicana Hotel and Casino is one of the older ones on the strip. The inside looks like an average casino, nothing standing out particularly. The adult shows are wonderful though. The rooms are nice and they have swimming pools to relax at. It is centrally located to the more popular casions. It is right on the corner of a large number of hotels and casions now. more

Tropicana 8/5/2005

The Tropicana Hotel and Casino is one of your older casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. That doesn't mean you shouldn't visit it however. They people here are very nice and tend to your every need. There is a pretty good aerobatic show right in the middle of the casino floor. Literally, you can be sitting on the slot machines and have people dancing in the air over your head. There is also a very nice bird show here, with exotic species from all over the world. The magic show here is decent as well. more

Want you want in a Vegas hotel 4/18/2005

First of all the Tropicana is a dump. The rooms are small and beat up, the buffet is nasty, and the casino has seen better days. Why the heck am I recommending the Tropicana? Is all about what you want to get out of your Vegas Hotel, and in this department the Tropicana shines. 1. It's cheap. You’re not spending money on a room you’re not going to spend a lot of time in. 2. It's on the strip. Vegas is full of bad cheap hotels but most of them are a cab ride away from the strip. When its 4:30 a.m. and you’re stumbling back to your hotel room the last thing you want is a cab ride. 3. The pool. The Tropicana does still does have one of the sweetest pools on the strip. It's huge and encircles most of the hotel. The people watching alone at the pool is worth the room charge. 4. Swim up blackjack. Yes, that’s right. You can swim right up to a blackjack table located in the middle of the pool. And yes, they take wet money. more
