Rip Off! 12/24/2011

We are very much international ""foodies"". Frasca and their pre- fix menu leaves much to be desired. The menu is difficult and packed with outrageous up-charges in every category. Food is definately not worth the enormous price. Size of entries were laughable. Time between courses was long and unacceptable. If you want to pay higher than NYC greatest restaurants prices and receive inferior food, than this is the place for you!! more

Way Over Priced 3/8/2011

After spending well over $200 we came away hungry. Presentation was nice, as was the wine, but for how much it costs -- not worth it. more

Tasty food, small portions, overpriced 10/27/2009

We indulged ourselves with a birthday celebration at Frasca after not visiting for over four years. Now I recall why we never went out of our way to return. Lovely, tasty food but the portions are small and overpriced. The room is nice but the table by the windows was cold and drafty. Perhaps I am overly critical given our current financial situation but the experience was not worth the monetary outlay. Pros: yummy Cons: expensive more

Overrated! 5/11/2009

My family recently dined at Frasca for a graduation celebration. They were serving a 4-course, pre-fixe menu. The service was good - a bit over earnest, but good. The food, however was bland and lacked the artistry you would expect from such a highly lauded restaurant/chef. The salumi plate could be much more substantial for the price, or at least a party of six should be warned that it is a very small plate. The lobster risotto was tasty, as was the salad with egg and prosciutto. The gnocchi and halibut were cold and very bland, respectively. Overall, my family was disappointed with their experience, especially when we received the bill. We don't mind paying good money for great food, but our experience at Frasca just didn't cut it. There are much better restaurants in Boulder. Pros: Service Cons: Expensive, bland food more

Not For People Who Have Eaten in Paris or New York 3/26/2009

The staff and chefs work very hard to make this place a memorable experience. The overflow crowd and smiling patrons at 8:00 PM on a Wednesday made it memorable. However, the food was bland. I got the feeling that the sauces were not made on the same day, which occasionally happens a restaurants that prepare subtle flavors. For the Primi, I had the Stonington Maine Lobster, ?Sottocenere? and Tarragon, but tasted no lobster flavor. It was too flaccid. None of the four courses would rate with the top 90% of the fine restaurants that I've visited in Colorado, and not with any that I've visited in the major cities in the U.S. or Europe. That said, virtually all of the diners were truly enjoying themselves, which leads me to believe that either my standards are too high or came on the wrong night. Pros: Nice buzz and happy diners Cons: No separation of flavors, and no excitement in flavor more

For some, a special occasion. For others, a regular indulgence. For us, a disappointment. 9/24/2008

We used a birthday for an excuse to splurge at Frasca, after having admired the menu and atmosphere from the sidewalk a dozen times. more

Not what we expected... 6/4/2008

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we were disappointed for a number of reasons. First off, very cramped tables -- we felt like we were having dinner with everyone around us. One couple even asked to switch tables because it felt like we were on top of each other. I know the space is small, but we've eaten in plenty of other small restaurants that managed to make it comfortable. more

The best regional wine list in denver 3/17/2008

We went to Frasca for a dinner. Our expectation was very high. Pros: Wine well priced Cons: food, service more

Overrated 3/6/2008

If you're into atmosphere and service, you won't like Frasca. Horrible accoustics, overbearing wait staff. Don't plan on uninterrupted conversation with your friends. You are sure to be interrupted repeatedly by the obnoxious wait staff. Unfortunately, the owner/sommelier is arrogant. Food IS excellent, but portions are tiny. Plenty of other restaurants to try in Boulder or Denver, like Fruition in Denver where the food, service, atmosphere, EVERYTHING is most excellent! Pros: food, though portions are tiny Cons: service, atmosphere, portions more

A Regular's Perspective 11/6/2007

Regarding previous comments: They offer a fixed menu on Mondays for $35. That?s $15 less than a nose-bleed seat at a Broncos game. For this level of cuisine and service, it?s a bargain compared to other top places in the country that they routinely out-perform. They utilize high-quality, seasonal goods from local farmers & artisan producers, and the kitchen exquisitely layers flavors (a bowl of seemingly simple tomato soup might have started with costly Prosciutto & Parmesan). There are bar seats, salumi bar seats & 2 walk-in tables if you haven?t secured a reservation in advance, and like every restaurant, they get cancellations too. For those of us who average 2-3 trips/month, one thing that is remarkably consistent besides the professional service is the high quality of the food. Remember that the dish you are not crazy for might be a culinary high-point to another diner. I didn?t care for a rice pudding dessert once, but even though it was just a personal preference, a server noticed I had barely touched it & offered to bring me some sorbet instead. They bring in some of the top wineries in the world on Mondays, but the wine flight is optional & the entire wine list is still available. It?s not realistic to expect them to be perfect to everyone given that they?re human and that a diner?s expectations & personal proclivities influence perceptions, but I am impressed that they constantly strive for perfection and often achieve it, as that is more than you?ll get from most businesses in any walk of life. Pros: One of the best restaurants in the country more

Absurdly good 10/8/2007

I've been here 3 times now, and every time has been out of this world great! The food is absolutely amazing, and the service is second to none in Colorado! Two out of the three times I've been our table has been visited by the owner for a chit chat about the wine we were drinking and various others. Pros: Amazing food, wine, service, selection, and courtesy! Cons: Very expensive, You must call Far in advance in order to secure reservations. more

Fantastic Charcuterie and Wine 8/3/2007

I ate at the bar and absolutely loved the Salumi plate. Pros: great food and wine Cons: crowded because its so good more

Inconsistent 5/16/2007

The food is inconsistent, but when it's good, it can be superb. Outstanding wine list. Beautiful space. more

We will definitely be back! 2/13/2007

After hearing great things about Frasca from others, my husband and I dined there last night for the first time to try their Monday set menus. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the owners. We were early, so we decided to have a drink at the bar. Brian, the bartender, was great. I told him what I liked and didn't like about mixed drinks, and he created a nice martini for me. The food and wine pairing was wonderful, especially the muscato with the almond cake (I'm so glad our waiter suggested that I at least get the dessert wine pairing as my husband was the only one who opted for all wine pairings). Great combination! Great service too! When I expressed to our waiter that I preferred my husband's appetizer over the one I selected, co-owner Bobby immediately came over and offered me another appetizer. I was amazed that they cared so much that I enjoyed the food. That really made the entire experience so much more enjoyable. My husband and I will definitely be back! Pros: Service, Ambience, Creative food and wine pairings Cons: Reservations more

Totally Overrated, Average Food 2/9/2007

We made reservations but waited three hours for our food. Never once did the waiter ask if everything was OK. We had apps (average), salad (below average), meals (good, but very small and not enjoyable after three hours), and dessert (they were out of their two best ones). Our waiter was nice, but he was never around, and the food was average. We have eaten in almost every restaurant in town (and been to Italy a few times), and Frasca is definitely below average. Skip Frasca and go to The Kitchen, Brasserie Ten Ten, or L'Atelier (across the street) instead. more

Amazing food 11/20/2006

This was really one of the best meals I have had in Colorado. The food was amazing, the wait staff attentive but not too attentive, wine selection was great. Pros: The food!! Cons: The price more

A symphony of culinary magic 8/9/2006

I am clapping for this place!! I mean a standing O! The atmosphere is quiet and cozy. The wait staff was so friendly and attentive. The wine pairings were just perfect! But the food...oh the food...unbelievable! Everything we ate was absolutely amazing. The flavors come together like a symphony of culinary magic in your mouth. Sweet and savory goodness, paired with the perfect wines, unbelievable! And just when you think ""how can this get any better?"" Your waiter hands you the dessert menu. The brownie was the best brownie I've ever had. And the homemade chocolate tasting...wow! The chocolate will just melt beautifully in your mouth if you can let it...which takes restraint:) Hands down, my very favorite eating establishment in Colorado. Great job Frasca!! Thank you for a memorable experience! more
