Overpriced, Under-delivered 11/16/2010

To be fair, I went to Fortune Cookie with someone who had not been there for a few years, but was very excited to go back. Apparently a lot has changed--including the quality of the food and the price that they charge for it. $10/person for dinner seemed a little steep, but I thought that if it was good quality food, it would be worth it. However, everything was lukewarm--whether it was supposed to be hot or cold. The steaks that are cooked to order were cooked Med. Rare although ordered Med. Well. The waiter was forgetful, to say the least--we had to call him over to get drink refills or ask for a cracker for the crab legs. The crab legs tasted frozen, then reheated to lukewarm. The ""hot butter"" was room temperature. Ultimately my favorite dish, crab wonton, was ruined by stale, overcooked wraps and hardly any meat inside them. So disappointed. Not worth the money. more

Do you want to get sick? If yes, then this is the place for you! 1/10/2009

This afternoon I was craving Chinese food for lunch and wanted to try something new. A friend of mine recommended I try the the Fortune Cookie Buffet. Hmmm... I love chinese buffet; normally I have few or no complaints when I am getting a bargain for a lunch. However, the fortune cookie buffet was horrible. The General Tso's Chicken was nearly ice cold in the center; the Bourbon Chicken had the consistency of raw chicken as was well below serving temperature. What made this restaurant horrible, was not the cold improperly served food; no, it was the attitude of the staff when I told them that their food was undercooked. Yes they staff was very sweet, and I did not try to come across too confrontational. However, they offered lots of excuses and claimed that they are always willing to heat the food up in a microwave for their customers... on request. They claimed that it is nearly impossible to ensure all food in their buffet maintain proper serving temperatures. With that in mind, I smiled and walked out of the restaurant. If you are looking for a good chinese buffet, there are several within a short distance of fortune cookie buffet that do care about their product enough to serve it hot. Other than the hot food being served cold and under cooked, their was a great variety of food, the salad bar and desert bar were outstanding; the staff were very friendly; and the restaurant was clean. Pros: Good variety, great salad bar and the kids loved the chocolate fountain. Cons: Food was nearly raw and or served cold. more

Better than others but not the best 7/7/2008

If your looking for authentic chinese food this is not it. It is a typical Chinese American buffet, plenty of selection most tasting the same. But compare to other places it is clean, the food looks fresher and they have a grill for steaks (what they call steaks anyway). Not great but can fullfill the hunger. Service is good, your tables get cleared off quickly. They have a chocolate fountain with an assortment of fruits for the chocoholics, ice cream and little cookies and cakes. The flan tastes like real egg custard. If your into seafood, there is little to none. Overall it is okay to try once in awhile but not regularly, mostly fried foods and not too healthy. more
