Flores Technical Services was established in 1988 to support South Texas engineering firms and utility companies by providing computer aided drafting (CAD) and mapping services. Research and database development in support of numerous projects have provided the opportunity for Flores Technical to combine the graphics requirements of these projects and the database attributes in the Geographical Information Systems now available. We have compiled the GIS and CAD experience necessary to support the current design environment.
FTS has been a sub consultant on public works projects with construction costs up to $3 million. We have performed data collection fieldwork as a sub consultant on a flood control study for Bexar County Public Works, studying the Leon Creek, Salado Creek and Cibilo Creek reaches outside the corporate limits of San Antonio.
We are currently under contract to support the CAD/Graphic needs of San Antonio City Public Service. A major portion of the effort entails editing scanned drawings in support of the production department. The current contract runs through 2003. Since 1994, FTS has compiled 70,000 record documents from 7 power plants into a single-source document that contains database attributes such as installation date, type of material, and construction phase. Sources have ranged from hand sketches to CAD drawings. Honeywell converted the J.K. Spruce Power Generation Plant control system from analog to digital, so they used the new FTS-generated documents as a basis for their retrofit.
