As an employee of UT this was a convenient location for a lunchtime appointment. The young lady who took care of my initial exam ""tests"" was very sweet, she lacked a little confidence, she seemed to be a very new employee, but I didn't have a problem with this. However, the older administrative ladies were quick to reprimand her in front of me by rudely pointing out she forgot to write down what type of insurance I had, and then to announce to me and the girl that she should have performed a test while I was wearing my contacts, (my contacts had been out for 5 minutes at that point). The girl was humiliated and I was offended by this older staff members lack of respect for her co-worker and me as a customer. I never had so many positive comments about glasses. Great selection and reasonable prices. Worth the parking hassles. Pros: Great selection. People were fun. Cons: Parking is tough. more

I love Dr. Irwin's Office. From the private parking in the back (great b/c of the busy location) to the extensive inventory of frames to the ""Stylists"" there to give you the honest truth, and help you find the right frame. Not only is Dr. Irwin thorough in his examination, but he is very willing to answer all my questions. I bring the entire family in every year for exams and new frames. BTW - The office staff is great too! To my surprise, they always remember us by name from year to year. Highly recommended. more

I've been a customer for almost 2 years and never get follow-up calls or much help when looking for frames. While Dr. Irwin is great to deal with, the actual store staff think they're running a GAP store. Pros: Interesting selection of frames Cons: Bad service, bad parking, no follow-up more

I've had eye problems and thus have had eye care for 14 of the 21 years of my life. I've visited three different doctors before, not including this one, so I'd say that I'm a pretty good judge of what qualifies as good service. Maybe it's because I'm a new customer--not that that should make any difference--but I noticed a lack of respect for me as a customer. They seemed a bit cold and said a couple of things that implied they only cared about the business I was bringing, not me as a patient. (there were many assumptions about what my long-term eye doctor would or would not do in regard to ordering contacts for me; basically they just wanted me to order through them) In addition, there was more than one mix up, prompting me to no longer want to order through them. However, when I tried to tell them I would be going back to Houston and order from my eye doctor, they went so far as to question my intelligence. I've been perfectly polite through everything, but perhaps it's time to fight fire with fire to get my money back. I hadn't bought glasses in years, so I was thoroughly nervous. I didn't really know what I wanted or what they had, but someone had suggested them to me. I made my appointment on my birthday, which immediately sparked a ""Happy birthday! What are your plans?"" conversation with the woman on the phone. The entire staff was friendly like this. During the easy exams, the girl and I joked the entire time. The doctor was sort of, well, sterile, but still friendly. He was doing serious work, after all. When it came time to pick out lenses, I was pretty overwhelmed; their selection is very nice. When the girl who was with me during my exam noticed my blank stares, she came up to me and started to help me pick them out. She was all over the store finding frames to match my general interest, trying them on with me and giving me an honest opinion (including the ones that didn't look good). While this is going on with me, I noticed a guy sitting down with a staff member and going through a dozen or so frames. He was so picky I felt sorry for the employee, but they were both really into analyzing these frames relative to his face shape. The process was quick and painless with everyone's help, and I got amazing glasses a week to the day I ordered them, just as they said I would. I witnessed the level of service I received being given to everyone else in the store the two times I went, so I can confidently recommend this business to anyone who wants some fine glasses. I chose Eclectic Eyewear due both to the reutation online and the convenience to my geographical location. From the get-go, it seemed like a great decision. Great selection of frames and excellent customer service. They even arranged to move up my appointment a couple of days. That is where the good part of my experience ends. more

i have been wearing glasses and contacts for 20 years now. needless to say, i know the in's and out's of being an eyecare costumer. I have never been to such an outstanding optometrist and/or eyecare store. Kevin Gajda was my optometrist and he was well knowledgeable and answered every question i had. He was by no means pushing more on me to make me spend more money. We even talked about house mortgages! Pros: great employees who know what theyre doing! Cons: i want it all! more

Eclectic? I don't know about that. It's just plain chaiotic in every way. The girls working at the front desk do not great you or even express interest in why you are there. No one working there seems to know what is going on. The women doing my initial screening didn't even ask if I had contacts in before she started checking my vision. After the completely exhausting experience of getting in to the doctor's office, I had a normal exam and was sent back out to the chiaos. Where a women attempted to find the lenses I needed and then told me they didn't have them. She didn't tell the doctor because while I was looking at frames he asked me if he could check the fit of my new contacts, which I didn't have in because they didn't have them. Pros: If you like scavenger hunts with no prizes, you might like this. Cons: No customer service what so ever. There is parking, but it is always full. You leave feeling unsure of your prescription and frame style. Buyers remorse is certain. more

Dr. Irwin & staff do a great job on the eye exam. They have a huge variety of frames, with emphasis on style. I highly recommend Eclectic Eyewear, and have referred friends & family there for over 5 years. Though I live in Pflugerville, I make the trip to Eclectic without reservation. more

I have been wearing glasses a long time and never had this much selection! The employees were very helpful and knowledgeable.I get so many compliments on my glasses.
