Worst doctor ever. This all started in October of '09.went to see her for an MRSA infection in my armpit. she treated it in the office, 5 months later at the end of Jan went to see her for what looked to be another MRSA infection (antibiotic resistant, contagious staff infection) It came back with a vengeance- this time on the top of my hand This time she did not culture it and started me on antibiotic I had to practically beg her for something for pain. The next morn woke up with a hand that had tripled in size had a red abscess my fingers were so swollen I could not bend them. The redness that began on the front of my hand spread to my elbow. I drove myself to the nearest hospital, was immediately admitted, ER doc came by, consulted a plastic surgeon had MRI of hand. The next day my insurance told me that I was not covered for this particular hospital and was transferred to nearby hospital (the same one where I work as a critical care rn). That was Friday- on Saturday went into surgery under general anesthesia. Was in the hospital for a total of 6 days. After I got out I called and made a follow up appointment. on the 12th of this month she called me to inform me that she was dropping me as a patient because I didn’t notify her that I was in the hospital (which by the way I was under no obligation to do so)- told the admitting docs her name. and she also accused me of "drug-seeking" behavior since I went to 2 different hospitals. as a nurse I find this to be outrageous! she has major issues with people who need pain medicine. I mean for petes sake my hand was so swollen and painful it looked like it was going to pop. It is quite possible she "fired" me because she dropped the ball when I went in on wed and by Thursday am was in hospital had surgery on my hand saturday for a 6 day total stay in the hospital am still on FMLA from work and have to attend regular outpatient wound care sessions. So you tell me- did I give myself mrsa infection just so I could get some stupid pain medicine? This woman has issu more

Good Service 1/22/2010

I have been seeing Dr. Merola for about three years and have been satisfied with her. It has always been easy to get an appointment and the staff has been extremely helpful in providing copies of records such as immunizations. more

I rate her Zero 7/20/2009

I had been seeing Dr. Merola for about 1 year and she was fine. Recently I had severe neck and shoulder radiating pain and she prescribed me muscle relaxants. When they did not help I called her after 2-3 days and asked for referral to Chiro that was refused and I was asked come see her. I explained that I work and cannot take that much time off from work. She suggested that I go to ER. Finally I made an appt with Austin Neck and Spine center and needed referral. They sent a request to her office and called 4-5 times and it was not done. I called her office and she said I was very demanding...and so on. I was blown off by her judgmental attitude and un-professionalism. I believe she needs to be more understanding rather than being judgmental. I would not recommend her to anyone. My records will be transferred to another PCP soon. I rate her Zero ! more

Dr. Wendy Merola - the BEST doctor EVER! 7/6/2009

I've been to many different doctors and I have to say that Dr. Merola is the best doctor that I've encountered. She's very thorough and listens to your concerns. She's very kind and thoughtful. The staff is also super! I was looking at Dr. Merola's other reviews and there's a couple of people that have some not so nice things to say about her practice. I've been to her office half a dozen times in the last two years and I've NEVER encountered those things the other reviewers have stated. It's taken me years to find a doctor that cares about me as a patient. I intend to keep going back. I highly recommend Dr. Merola - you won't be sorry! more

HORRIBLE, UNTRUSTING DOCTOR!! 11/24/2008

Good: NOTHING. Bad: her attitude, she's judgemental, shouldn't call herself a doctor.. Improvements: I would like her business to be closed down and save people a lot of grief.. more

Does not deserve even one star! 5/24/2007

After seeing her ad in a local publication, I went to see her. I was looking for a contraceptive and a prescription for my joint pain. After I told her I wanted a Depo-Provera, she immediately said that I needed to come back and that some other blood or urine tests needed to be made. I felt that she only wanted to collect extra money with unnecessary appontments and tests. I told her a was not sexually active and therefore; I couldn't be pregnant. She kept flipping her eyes in disbelief and for the first time I felt that my doctor was not trusting me at all. I even told her I could sign any document if she likes but no use. After 30 minutes of trying to convince her that I was telling her the truth, I said I think I am wasting my time in here and getting no contraceptive. She got up and told me to leave. I had so much emotional distress afterwards. She even dare to bill me for almost $400.00 for her visit. I don't see why doctors like this one should be in practice at all. Two weeks later a found a great doctor that gave me a contracptive right then and respected me as a person. more

Very caring and helpful doctor.. 8/18/2005

Dr. Merola has been our family doctor for 5 years now and we have found her to be a great doctor. She is very detail-oriented and really listens to you when you have concerns and spends alot of time with you talking and making sure you are getting the care you deserve. If you come to her with a problem and it isn't in her field of expertise, she will gladly recommend you to another doctor and then follow up with you to make sure you were taken care of. Her staff is very friendly and helpful, as well. We highly recommend her services if you need a good family doctor. more
