China Star 5/30/2010

My mother-in-law and I decided to go try China Star. We walked in and were seated, noone would get us a high chair. I ordered a sweet tea and my m-i-l ordered an unsweet tea. We asked for milk for my daughter and they were out so I got her water and it had black flakes in it. There was a large selection but everything we tasted was terrible!! It was either bland or gross. There were flies all over the place. At one point the waitress who had deserted us through the entire meal came to refill my drink and gave me unsweet tea and told me to use sugar. when we were getting the money together for the check she came over and stood over us jerking it out of our hands!! It was very awkward. I couldn't find anything that I liked about this restaurant and Needless to say I wont be back Pros: I cannot think of anything that was good about this place Cons: The food was terrible and the waitstaff was extremely rude! more

Just Another Chinese Buffet Mill 8/17/2007

If you're looking for a good Chinese place, I'd keep looking. I've been to China Star a few times because they're convenient and inexpensive (I always got the buffet to go), but I went in today, wanting to sit down and order off the menu. I have to say the staff is way more interested in cycling people in and out of the place ($$) than actually running a true restaurant. I was seated, and after my server brought me my iced tea, I sat there wondering where she was. Finally she comes around the corner and I'm still sitting there, looking at her expectantly. I ask for a menu and... no can do! Clearly, your only option at this place is to fix your own darn plate at the buffet. If I had known this was a buffet mill disguised as a ""restaurant"" I would have kept driving. So, at the end of the meal, I asked for a small to-go box for my egg roll and crab rangoons. No can do!! My server absolutely refused to bring me a to-go box, so the remaining food on my plate was completely wasted. I guess they figure I'm gonna sneak by the buffet on the way out and load up my to-go box...? I can see how they would not want to give to-go boxes for customers who make four trips to the buffet, but I had only made ONE trip to their buffet, and I PAID FOR THE FOOD ON MY PLATE. I can't see any reason to go back to China Star. Pros: ""Okay"" Chinese food Cons: Buffet mill, not a true restaurant more

Worst Chinese Food EVER! 10/8/2006

I love Chinese food - it is by far my favorite type of food. Having moved around A LOT, I've been fortunate enough to have sampled some amazing asian food and unfortunate enough to have come across restaurants that should frankly be closed because their food was so bad. more
