used to be just the taco house but has now morphed into a mediterranean something-or-other with the taco house menu offered along with middle eastern style food. not as cheap as it used to be so much of the reason to eat here has disappeared. the overbearing owner, manager doesn't know the first thing about customer service and will bark at you from across the restuarant and argue with you about the food or the check (my friend ordered 3 enchiladas, only got 2 and he refused to discount the ticket). basically, it's a pain in the rear to try to eat here. food is marginal at best. service was terrible. Overrated!!! 7/24/2006

I agree with the other readers. Yes- their food is fresh. Therefore, the long wait. However, it is a bit boring to me. They have a chicken burrito that only has chicken and cheese. Nothing else. Isn't this boring?!!??? You have to pay extras to add extras. Also, I got a Chicken Salad and there was no dressing. I asked them for dressing and they say they don't have dressing for the salad. It just doesn't come with it. Weird. Most things are reasonable but they could knock a dollar or so off each item. Pros: Fresh Cons: Ambiance and dirty more

The Taco House is Muy Bueno 6/29/2005

Taco House, once Tippy's, is fantastic. The cheese crisp is a great munchie, but their regular tacos are also well. What I love about the Taco House is it has a wonderful atmosphere; the ever changing art on the walls showcases local talent while the once working Pac-Man table makes me reminiscent of my childhood. Best Mexican Pizza 9/14/2004

I used to live up the street from Taco House and was thoroughly disappointed by the food the first time I ate there. The thing to understand is this - it's 5 times better quality than Taco Bell at very reasonable prices, it's all home-cooked and just because your tastebuds may be trained to mexican fast food or an Ortega dinner kit, doesn't mean that that constitutes good mexican! Either way, I now live in Connecticut and would kill for a Mexican Pizza! Nothing else compares!!! And their hot sauce is phenomenal. Pros: Excellent Value more

Overrated and overpriced 7/25/2003

Someone's gotta tell these folks - making Mexican food does not mean that you just drown various combinations of meat and tortilla in a deep pool of sauce and a thick gooey blanket of cheddar cheese. Well, maybe that's exactly what they are aiming for, rather than any semblance of Mexican food. In that case, the prices better drop in a hurry. I have never had to pay extra for everything in a burrito aside from the chicken and rice - a reasonable combination cost me 8$. For, let me repeat, a burrito!! Skip this overpriced hang out and head to the Italian Market taqueria for some real Mexican food that's worth the money. My biggest problem is that over the years it's hard to pinpoint just what the operating hours of this establishment ARE. It seems that they inevitably are closed if I'm actually in the area or open when I've already got reservations somewhere else (or already ate before entering the city). I've been to Taco House many times and the food is always great! It's a really cute little place with interesting art on the walls. Great place for cheap eats. The apple & cheese burrito for dessert is also really, really good!! Everyone I bring there falls in love with the food also. more

Always Good, Always Cheap 8/20/2002

Although it may look like a hole in the wall, Taco House has been serving some of the best and cheapest Mexican food in this city for years. I went there for the first time in 1982, and have gone back regularly, sometimes several times a week, ever since. The owners are great, the staff is generally pleasant, and the students who often hang out there allow for some interesting eavesdropping during your meal.
