Worst

We went today and are traumatized. This place is a so completely uncomfortable and weird. We were so confused by the whole experience.

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/13/2012

I agree with the other reviewers. I did not want to let my son play with any of the toys in the waiting room because it looked filthy. The doctor's brother took me back and talked a whole bunch about what could be going on with my son's eye (we noticed it was slightly lazy). He then took us back out to the waiting room. Fortunately for me, the person ahead of me was in the bathroom, so we got to go in earlier (however, this was still about 20 minutes after our appointment was scheduled). Then when we finally went in to see Dr. Busse himself, he repeated the same stuff his brother had said, looked at the eye a little bit, sprayed something into my son's eyes (without telling me about it first - I had to ask what it was after the fact). I had to pay in full at the time of the appointment, even though my insurance was covering part of it and now I am waiting to hear back on getting my reimbursement. The office looks terribly unorganized. I don't know how anyone can find anything there. The staff is also very unprofessionally dressed. When I go to a medical PROFESSIONAL, I want to know that they take their jobs seriously enough to wear more than jeans and a tshirt (this includes the doctor's brother who took us into a back room to explain the various things that could be wrong...even though he's not a doctor himself) I would not recommend this to anyone. I'm not sure why my pediatrician recommended him. I don't know that I will go back to her, either. more

Arrogant and unprofessional 2/20/2010

His dirty office, outdated equipment, and uncomfortable mannerisms aside, Dr. Busse is extremely thin-skinned, arrogant, and unprofessional. After several visits with our child we are transferring to a different specialist. This began when on the adivce of our primary pediatrician, we sought a second opinion from one of Dr. Busse's peers. Unfortunately he took this personally because apparently he is uncomfortable sharing his work with others in the field. Where we thought second opinions were commonplace and a truly confident professional would have no problems with the process, our perception of his insecurities and ego were underestimated. The care we received elsewhere was not only more comprehensive than any Dr. Busse had provided but utilized far more current technology and rendered a significantly different outcome. We're not looking back. Dr. Busse has lost our business and any chance that we would ever refer anyone to his practice. Please be warned. more

REALLY STRANGE MAN Incredibly rude unprofessional staff 2/2/2009

The other reviewer was so right on. This guy is really creepy. He has an office filled with his Barbie Doll collection. He didn't even speak with us after he did an extremely serious procedure on our baby. His brother is weird too. He has no medical training but is apparently in on the procedures. We had no idea that he was not the doctor until he finally invoked his brother. We were shocked because he never introduced himself when he took us back so we assumed he was Dr. Busse. The staff is so rude and unhelpful. They did not provide after care instructions for my baby and when I called they were very put off that I asked for them. The office is also dirty. I wiped down a toy for my baby to play with and the wet wipe came back black with grime. It is beyond me how he has a good reputation with his peers. Maybe because their kids don't have to visit him. Your kids shouldn't either. Pros: The procedure worked Cons: They are all from the cast of a Felini film and not in a good way. Really terrible doc and staff. more

strange practioner and rude staff 8/14/2008

For a doctor who has the respect of his peers, Dr. Busse is a very strange person. At every visit, he asks my son if he is a happy boy or a sad boy, a query which seems odd and out of place for an opthalmologist's office. His communication skills with adults are strained, and he just gives off a very strange vibe. My husband and mother both commented on his lack of adult interaction skills.\r \r His office is filled with the standard eye examination equipment, which in almost 8 years of bi-yearly visits, he has never used on my child. He has never dilated my son's eyes. Lazy eyes are his stated specialty, seemingly to the exclusion of any other opthalmalogical concern.\r \r His office staff is very rude and unhelpful. Long waits in his very uncomfortable waiting room filled to the breaking point with whole families of his patients are just another inconvenience. I would find another doctor. more
