Buckingham Fountain is one of those Chicago landmarks that make you proud to live in the Windy City. This beautifully crafted fountain in Grant Park dates back to the World's Fair and occasionally shoots a huge geyser of water into air. It's seasonally operational, so when you see the fountain in all its majesty in full operation, you know the summer festivals can't be far behind! more

Lovely water fountain! 5/4/2006

We look forward to seeing this fountain brought back to life in the spring every year! The kids especially get a kick out of the synchronized "show." We often bring a bagged lunch and just sit and relax, watch the people, watch the water, whatever. On hot, windy days you get an extra treat by the mist blowing off the water - a nice cool down! more

Beautiful Fountain 4/29/2006

We always take the kids out to this fountain during the summer. Its such an enjoyable place to be at. The fountain is just gorgeous. Its big and at night it lights up and becomes very spectacular looking. During the summers, they have lots of great activities here, many which are geared towards kids too! But wether or not there is some event going on here, you will enjoy the nice park and the great views of the lake from this magnificent fountain. more

One of Chicago's Favorite 3/19/2006

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this specatual fountain. It is part of Chicago's history and present and a welcome sight for tourists and locals alike to take photos of. One of Grant Parks best features that will continue to grace the cover of tourist magazines for years to come. more

Magical.... 3/17/2006

I love stopping by here and watching the fountain. It's beautiful, peaceful and exciting all the time. This is a great place to snag a picture. Apparently - though - only one company has permission to take professional pictures here (so be careful if you're thinking about wedding or what not pictures here). more

An entertaining fountain 3/17/2006

Buckingham Fountain is one of the many fantastic free attractions that Chicago has to offer. Located in Grant Park, this huge fountain makes scheduled huge blasts of water. Just imagine a much much smaller Old Faithful. The fountain itself is quite beautiful and its intricate design is alone worth the visit. Grab a bench and enjoy the free show. more

Every hour on the hour 3/17/2006

This fountain turns on every hour on the hour when the warm season hits. They also play music that coincides with the colors that they flash onto the water. There are benches surrounding the fountain for bringing a lunch and hanging out watching the show. Make sure not to sit in the grass, because they now have police that make it difficult to do anything without being harassed. more

Buckingham Fountain 2/26/2006

The Buckingham fountain is a great place to take the entire family in the summer. The fountain is beautifully made and very well kept. Its fun to take the entire family to the park to enjoy some delicious snacks and take in the great view of not only the fountain but the lake as well. It is also a great place to have a picnic. I always go here on the 4th of July and enjoy the spectacular fireworks display they have here. Take public transportation if you can, parking can be hard to find here. more

Beautiful Fountain in the Heart of Chicago 8/24/2005

This beautiful fountain is just one more pleasure to be found in the downtown/lakefront area. From May to October each year, the fountain sprays its giant waterjet up in the air, so that it can be seen blocks away. It's a favorite meeting place during the Taste of Chicago when the crowds can be overwhelming at Millenium Park, and it certainly is a favorite of children. But perhaps the best time to experience the fountain is on a summer evening when the illumination of the fountain highlights its beauty, on a romantic horse and carriage ride through the city. Don't miss this free monument to beauty when you are visiting Chicago. more
