Excellent Shop, Excellent Staff 11/26/2010

I was pleasantly suprised by how great my experience was at this Brake Specialists. The manager and staff were very friendly. They had hot coffee ready for the customers in the morning. They diagnosed my check engine light and replaced a bad thermostat for me. I was very happy with the price of the repair and the quick service. I will definitely refer people to this shop. more

Great Customer Service, Excellent Manager 9/13/2010

If you live in the 78704 zip code, then you need to bring your vehicles to Colton Perez (he is the manager) at Brake Specialists @ 1303 South Lamar. My wife and I use this shop for our state inspections and various other scheduled maintenance on our vehicles. Colton has treated my wife awesome everytime she is there and I have received that same superior service from him. He is honest and straight forward on what our vehicles need and gets the work done in a timely fashion. I do agree with the other reviewer that the shop does need a new television, but that is a very minor detail. Thanks Colton! more

I recently went to Brake Specialists at 1303 S Lamar due to having continuous problems with my Jeep. I had attempted to obtain service at another local car repair where I spent several hundred dollars only to have the same problem. Colton Perez listened to my issues, and took on my problem. I was treated with respect, and informed of my options. Colton and the service team were able to locate the problem, make the correct repairs, and went the extra mile to assist me in learning how to avoid not only continued car problems but how to protect myself from less honest car repair places. I highly recommend utilizing their services! They are honest, thorough, professional, and treat you with respect. I am pleased with the work that was done to correct my problem, and will continue to trust my Jeep to Colton and the service team at Brake Specialists. Thanks, You Guys Rock! Not really a car guy... 6/24/2010

My fiance purchased a group of discounts and coupons for a Brake Specialists store up north, however, I live down south. I went to one Brake Specialist who refused to honor the coupons (disappointing). I drove to the one on South Lamar to see if they would honor them. Colton (the guy behind the counter) said "sure, its from the same company". Pros: Great service and price Cons: I don't really have one more

They do great work and treat women with respect. 6/7/2010

I'd taken my "old" care to them and received great care. I've never felt like they were talking down to me because I'm a woman. If something was going to be expensive they would prioritize what needed to be done immediately. This weekend I had reason to take my new car in for a headlight repair. Colton was still there, acted like I'd just been in the day before (it had been months) and had me in and out in an hour. I use them over any dealership and appreciate being treated with respect. I recommend them to my friends. Pros: Friendly, honest and gast. Cons: None. more

STAY AWAY! CROOKS ! 2/6/2010

My wife and i, go in there and drop off our vehicle to get the breaks done. Im assuming its going to need pads and new rotors. They come back and tell us that it is going to cost $1500 dollars for new breaks. They were saying we need this, we need that, that we need new cylinders. Well cylinders are only 12.99, Pads. $21 and rotors/dics $30. I usually do the breaks, so i know what this stuff costs. We took it somewhere else and got the whole thing done for 425 dollars. And what they said we needed was a lie. Stay away from these crooks. And if youre a female. Dont go there!. Slimy remarks will be made toward you. Pros: That you have other break shops near by to go to Cons: Trashy people trying to steal your money more

STAY AWAY -- falsely claimed expensive repair work was needed to pass state inspection! 10/20/2008

Took my car in for a state inspection, they told me the car failed inspection and (in summary) needed $2300 of parts/labor before it would be able to pass inspection. Not believing this, I declined the work and took the car to a basic oil-change service shop to have the inspection run again. Suprise -- the car passed the second inspection without a problem! Based on this, I find that the ethics of Brake Specialists Plus to be questionable at best, and their labor rates are also no better than a dealer -- after this experience, I would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. Pros: Convenient location for those in S. Lamar area Cons: Questionable ethics trumps all other considerations more
