Awful service and experience 8/19/2011

My family went to dinner at benihanas to celebrate my parents 27th anniversary. We made a reservation for 7:30. We got there at 7:30 and checked in. The girl at the host station said it wouldnt be that much longer. At 8 my mom went up and asked how much longer. The girl said just a few minutes. At 8:15 which was 45 minutes after our reservation my dad went up and asked the manager what the problem was. He was like sorry sir we are waiting for people to leave. He acted like it was no big deal. He didnt try to make the situation better. We got sat at a table at 8:25 which was 55 minutes after our reservations. At this point we wondered why we even made reservations. People that were walking in got sat right away. The manager was to scared to talk to us and avoided our table. After 20 minutes her came over and offered to buy a drink. The rest of the dinner was fine. It ruined my parents anniversary. The manager could have handled the situation in a better way. We will never eat a Benihanas again. more

Not the same faces... 1/24/2011

This Benihana is the worst run in CO, LV, and CA. I am a HUGE Benihana guy, love the food and concept. I live less then a mile from this location in Denver and use to go at leat 2 times a week. I disagree with the comment on ""I still see the same faces..."", they have had major turnover from cooks to staff, only managment has been the same. I have spoken with many staff, new and old, and they all say the same thing Managment SUCKS!!!!! Most all of them complain about the GM stating that he is mean and has no trust of his employees. more

Have I died and gone to heaven? 1/23/2011

We go there twice a year every year and have never been disappointed. The service, the chefs, the appetizers, the main course, even the dessert is great. I highly recommend ordering the Hibachi Chateaubriand. My husband loves the Land and Sea or Seafood Delight. The portion sizes and food quality justify the prices along with the pleasant atmosphere and fantastic service. Our drinks are never empty and our chef is always a hoot. I am impressed by the fact that in the 16 years we've made visiting Benihana our anniversary tradition, I still see the same faces amongst the staff. That tells me that beyond treating their customers good, they take care of their employees. I highly recommend this restaurant. more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!! 1/15/2011

My name is Delmer Dale O'Blia. I'm writing this comment to complain about a Benihana in Denver, Colorado 3295 S.Tamarac Drive. It is 9:56 mountain time. I called the Denver Location at 1:00 pm asking if there would be a possibilty of making a reservation for my wifes 27th birthday party of four. (wife, son, son, me) I was told they had availibilty for my reservation at 8:30. We show up at Benihana at 8:30 check in and they make us wait. Time is going by and we start to see multiple party's being seated that didn't have reservatiuons nor been waiting as long as we were. I happened to get up and ask the host what was the wait and she looked as if she was confused or not willing to help. We sat and waited. After 20 minutes went bye we still were waiting wondering if we were going to be seated for our reservation at 8:30 which it was now 8:50. Waiting Waiting Waiting!!!!!!!! Watching more party's sit at tables that didnt have reservations. I asked when we arrived if there was any reservations in front of our party, the host said NO. Now at 9:10pm I seen the Manager at the host table so I walked over and asked why we haven't been seated with our 8:30 reservation. He told me he was sorry and noting he could do about it. I'm very frustrated at this time and have to tell my two boys and wife lets go. It was a horrible and rude experience. I'm starting to think race had a big part in the whole issue. I'm going to post this on the review page for future customers to know. before they make my same mistake and go try to have a good night and it turn horribly wrong as if my money wasn't GREEN!!!!!!!!! PS Happy Birthday My love sorry for how we were treated. more

Rude service and price changes 8/30/2010

An occasional Benihana patron, I have to say that I was VERY disappointed by my last visit to their Denver location. I visited last Thursday with my best friend to celebrate her birthday. We're both members of the ""Chef's Table"" and on prior visits always ordered the ""meal for two"" in conjunction with the Chef's table discount. This time was no different, we ordered the meal for two, presented the server with her birthday coupon, and then had dinner. Despite horribly slow service and a table grill that wouldn't heat properly, we eventually finished our meal. Immediately after dessert was served, we were approached by the server, who informed us that policy has recently changed, and that despite ordering the meal for two we would have to pay for two separate meals in order for my friend to use her birthday discount. The on duty manager lady didn't care about our situation, and simply brushed us off, telling us that we were out of luck and have to pay for the two separate meals and eat the price difference. Had we been informed on ordering that the discount was not available on the menu item we chose, I wouldn't have had any problem, however not telling us, letting us eat the meal, then demanding more money for the meal after the fact was absolutely unprofessional. This visit to Benihana will certainly be my last. more

Horrible service, poor management, mediocre food 4/20/2009

We went in to dine and from the beginning of the service to the end the managers were constantly pushing us to order, finish our dinner, and eventually they told us that we needed to leave! After an hour and 10 minutes. The chef was messy and not very good, and the food was mediocre although I wouldn't know as the server boxed up my food mid bite. I would suggest if you are used to eating a 3 course meal in 30 minutes that this is the place for you. After complaining I am still waiting for someone to call me back. Over priced MCDonald's of hibachi is what the new term should be. Pros: They make a mean smoothie Cons: Rushed service, terrible management more

INTOXICATED Chef!!!!! 1/23/2007

We were sat down in a timely matter and enjoying are selfs we got are drinks and were waiting for the chef, 20 mins pass by the salad and soup and finished. The chef then comes out of the kitchen with a wierd disorderly walk, he forgets to bow and is not wearing a name tag. He then asks if there is any1 having a birthday sliring his words, the lady next to my mother says me, 3 mins later he asks the little girl if its her birthday forgeting that he already asked that the lady says no its my birthday, after that was figured out he then asks were every1 is from sliring his words once again, everyone says Denver. 2 mins later he asks the same question then thinks we are from NY, mean while the food is being burnt and he is twirling around knifes ( the three litttle kids looked tarrified). My sister gets up and goes to the manager the chef looks over there perinoide. The manager realizes the Chef is indeed drunk so she gives us a new chef, the new chef then cleans all the burnt food that was about to be feed to us. Mean while the drunk chef and a employee who was also wasted was looking at my sister from the kitchen giving her jesters. WHY HE WASNT FIRED I DO NOT KNOW!! So my sister says we are out of here, so we all get up and walk out as we walk out the manager stops us and then trys to charge us for the meal. That was the last straw my sister makes a scene yells at the manager for not doing her job correctly and we storm out of the place. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!! DO NOT GOTO BENIHANAS! The Description of the chef was mexican, gold teeth and tattoos did not have on name tag which shows me he knew he was doing something wrong before he started. Charteristics of behavior= Swaying back and forth, slird words, asked same questions over and over could not cut very well, tried to throw shimp in hat could not do it, he had bl0od shot eyes looked stoned and drunk. DO NOT GOTO THIS RESTAURANT I WARN U!! Cons: SERVICE AND FOOD more

Horrible, horrible, horrible 10/18/2006

Tonight my girlfriend and I spent two hours at Benihana's, in Tamarac Square. When we arrived, we were starving, and eager to gorge ourselves on sushi. But the service was slow. Slow as in the way glaciers move. Pros: None. Absolutely none. Cons: Glaringly bright lights, drecky food, terrible service more

Best Dining Experience in Town! 6/15/2005

If you believe dining is part food, part experience, then Benihana is the restaurant for you! Take a seat at a large table designed for the great social experience and watch the Chef dazzle you with acrobatic tricks with the food cooked right in front of you! After eating the best Asian food in Denver, you'll be asking yourself what was better; the food or the experience. A question which will lead you back time and time again! Pros: Best Food, Social Experience, Friendliest Service Cons: Pricey, Not Intimate, Long Wait more

Neat, but not worth it 3/18/2005

I have heard so much about Benihana's that I was excited to go. Unfortunately, the best part of the resturant is the fancy knife wielding. The food is American style Japanese, not even close enough to be considered true Japanese cuisine. The sushi is sub-par at best. If want true Japanese cuisine, I recommend going somewhere else. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Not authentic, Pricey more

What a WASTE!!!!!! 3/21/2004

I recently re-visited Benihana, after visiting several other Hibachi restaurants in the last few months. WHAT A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. The food is disgusting (One small stalk of zucchini for each person as your vegetable?), the service spotty, the prices ridiculously high and the ambience less than desirable. I cannot stress the poor quality of the food as compared to other Hibachi restaurants in Denver. For the BEST Hibachi, try Hibachi Steakhouse in Westminster at the Promenade. They are second to none. Pros: Quick Seating Cons: , Poor Service, Bad Portions for Mone more

What Just Happened? 3/16/2004

What just happened here? These where the first words out of our month at the completion of the meal. I was out to diner with my spouse and another couple on a Saturday night and we were all amazed at the experience. Cattled in and cattled out under an hour flat! - that included apps, meal and dessert!. Quality & taste of the food - simple & basic. Entertainment by the table chef was not there, a very mechanical process. Price high. Managers' response to our disappointment - come on a weekday instead! How about not at all! Cons: , Crowded, Rushed more

Best Sushi Around 8/6/2002

I only eat the Sushi Buffet at Benihana's. They use the finest ingredients in their sushi, that it's a wonder why more people don't go there with a price of $19.99 per person!! Please try it. If you love sushi, you'll definitely love their All You Can Eat Sushi Buffet more
