I never go any place else 4/24/2010

These guys know their stuff. I am in a financial spot to where I can only afford to buy used cars, so needless to say, I need a great auto mechanic. I ONLY TRUST THEM TO WORK ON MY CAR, NO ONE ELSE. They are honest, straight forward and to the point. If they are a little more than ""Pep Boys"" or some other Mickey Mouse auto place, it is because it is going to get done right. That has been my experience. Pros: They know what they are doing Cons: can take a few days more

Great people, Great service 3/28/2010

Went to Ben White Automotive (South) to get my timing belt changed on 01 Camry (4 Cylinders) as part of 90K miles preventive maintenance. Gentleman at the front desk named Oscar was very friendly tech who provided estimated cost of changing timing belt and two other auxiliary belts upfront. He later followed up with a phone call about other minor issues with my car and his honest advice about whether I can delay/neglect those issues. In the end, the bill was very much what he estimated earlier. Most importantly, I waited two weeks before I write this review to see if car is running fine/developing any problems. It's running great. Timing belt is crucial part of our cars AND these folks do awesome job, I highly recommend. Thanks guys. Pros: Customer friendly and fairly priced more

Great Place 3/7/2010

I took my car here and the front desk help was very friendly and so was the mechanic who called me to let me know what needed to be done to the car. I was told what was needed to be done and when I didn't have the money for all the work at one time they did not pressure me like a lot of places do. I finally was able to go back and complete the work and I am very happy with the way my car runs now. I would definitely recommend them. Pros: honest & reliable more

Honest service 1/14/2010

The ""Service Engine Soon"" light came on in my car late Friday afternoon and I called Ben White Automotive since they had repaired my car once before. They told me that even they we going to be closed the next day (Saturday), I could bring my car by for them to run the scan and see what was causing the light to come on. I showed up the next day and they ran the scan and reset the light. They told me that it was something to do with the thermostat but nothing urgent, so I could drive my car through the weekend and bring it in Monday if the light came back on. BUT, if the light stayed off, they said I should ""stay gone"" because it was probably just a glitch. WOW! A mechanic honest enough to actually tell me that I didn't need to bring my car back to them for further service! They have certainly earned my repeat business! more

Excellent Car Repair and Service 1/7/2010

Kevin, the service manager, was verycourteous and attentive to my problem. The tgechnicians did good work and fixed my vehicle. I'm very plesed and have since recommended Ben White Automotive to my daughter. Pros: Honest diagnosis, prompt repairs, excellent results Cons: Distance from my home, but certainly worth the drive. more

Honest and reliable garage 1/3/2010

Ben White's is the only mechanic I will trust with my cars. I first discovered them after being being ripped off by another garage in town who's diagnostic price alone was more expensive than the entire repair made by Ben White. I also trust them over the dealership for routine maintenance, such as brakes & oil, over the Chevy dealership for my 2010 Camaro. Ben White is the best you will find in Austin! more

Get Your Car Fixed Here!!! 12/30/2009

My fuel pump failed at 11AM, called Ben White Automotive and they had it repaired and returned to me by 5pm the same day. Their prices are lower than most repair shops in Austin and they don't try to up sell you. Pros: Excellent Service more

Mixed Feelings 12/18/2009

Took my car in for a coolant issue and they did the repair at 1/4 the cost of anyone else. Front desk guy not the most friendly but the price was right. Had to take my car back 3 days later as the issue was still happening. They found another coolant issue that they are fixing and not charging me for since we dont know if it was there prior or happened when putting my car back together the first time. Not many shops will do that so I have to give them props for that. They seem to be an honest repair shop and in this town thats hard to find. I will return to this shop for future repairs even though they have had my car for far longer that originaly planned. I would refer friends and family to Ben White Automotive! Pros: Fixing mistake at there cost Cons: Have had my car for four days more

I want to swing these guys some props!! i think i finally have found a good place to bring our cars! they didn't screw us ... the repair is still repaired and they did a bit of body work(side fender was falling down) for free and didn't even mention it ... my husband and i are like the side of the car is fixed! I don't know anything about cars, so am leary of all repair shops. But have been using Ben White Automotive South for quite a while now. As my son said, ""they are dudes who like to work on cars"". Trustworthy Mechanic 11/29/2009

They're so straightforward that you feel like you don't have to get bids from other shops - you know that you're getting an honest job at an honest price. I had my suspension fixed here. It was by far the cheapest price I found, and it was done in two days. The only problem was lugging it way south of town. Otherwise I highly recommend them. Pros: Straightforward, honest, reliable, and not too expensive. Cons: Way south of town. It's a hike. more

I had just bought a car. It is an older car. I was referred by a friend. I took my car in to have them look at my A/C. They serviced it and gave the car a look over that afternoon. I will take my car there for now on. Pros: friendly, helpful and affordable more

Great Service 11/12/2009

Recently moved to Austin from New York and needed to fix my A/C. They found that it was only a faulty plug and didn't lie or try repairing something that didn't need to be and then charge and arm and a leg. Very professional and credible, they fix the problem, they don't steal your money. more

Honest, Professional & Best Deal in Town 10/28/2009

I am soooo happy that I have found BWA. Oscar, the service manager, is very honest and professional. He took the time to explain what the problem my Jeep had and how much in detail I was charged for. It is not an easy task because I know nothing about cars and I am very cheap. The technicians did a wonderful job, and I paid at least $300 less than other shops wanted for the same job. From the bottom of my heart, I believe BWA is trying to build a reputable business by providing customers with quality services at reasonable prices, totally not like so many other shops I had been to. Keep up the good work! Pros: trustworthy, professional, very reasonable prices Cons: have not found one yet more

Great place 10/16/2009

Ben White Automotive did a free buyer's check when I got my car. Recently, the brakes started squeaking periodically. They put my car up, looked at the brakes and told me the brake pads had just ""glazed over"" -- I didn't need to replace them and the brakes worked fine. They didn't even charge me for looking at the brakes b/c it just took them a couple minutes. Very honest people. I feel like a lot of other car repair shops would have told me I needed new brake pads. more

Auto Repair You Can Trust 10/6/2009

I took my car in at noon on a Friday for what turned out to be a major problem. They did a diagnostic and gave me estimate and said it might be ready on Sunday. On Sunday it was not ready, but they told me they would knock off one day's rental car charge. When I picked it up early Monday afternoon, the price was less than expected and as promised the rental car charge was deducted. Good Service. Good Value. Good Experience.
