Outrageously Arrogant Policy 5/3/2009

Although the food and service were good, I was shocked when the bill came. I do not remember seeing any policy statement of a forced ""tip"" for a party of 5, and even though I typically tip at least 20% when I go out, I was insulted that they forced a tip and that they forced 20%. At one time a tip was a tip for service well done. Now it's not only a forced service charge, it's forced at a higher and higher level. I've not seen a forced tip this high in any restaurant before, and I won't come back here. Pros: Good food, nice staff Cons: Forced tip more

Center city gem for the last 10 years! 9/25/2008

I have been going to Beau Monde for the last 10 years and it continues to impress me. The food and atmosphere are a great value in a city where things seem to be getting more and more expensive everyday. The place is romantic and chic, yet also laidback. I hadn't been there in a while and after after a recent visit I decided to leave this review. Not many places in Philadelphia have been as consistently great over the years as Beau Monde. I have gotten to know the owners a bit over the years and I can attest to the fact that they have poured there heart and souls into this restaurant. If you haven't been to Beau Monde in a while you should definitely take a night and treat yourself to a relaxed meal. For the first timer I would not hesitate to check it out as I'm sure it will become a favorite! Pros: Great food and atmosphere Cons: weekend parking can be tough more

Crappy creperie!!! 7/23/2008

The service here is bad- It took over 2 hours from start to finish for us to get our meal. The table was dirty, and the hostess never offered to clean it up for us. The waitress was very inattentive and the food was only so-so. Additionally, the waitresses here dress very inappropriately, so this is not the kind of place I'd take kids or a nice date to. We were told by the manager that we'd be getting a gift certificate to make up for all this, and then three days later the owner calls me up and tells me and my friends never to come back to his place. Talk about poor customer relations!!! This place was a NIGHTMARE!!! uggh...And the parking all around it is only 2 hour parking, so be prepared to have to leave your meal partway through to go re-park your car- we had to! That's how long the food took!!! Don't show up hungry here!!! Pros: Absolutely none Cons: Everything you can think of more

My fav place in philly- GREAT FOOD, GREAT ATMOSPHERE, REASONABLE PRICES 3/6/2008

I absolutely love this place. It's by far my favorite restaurant in Philly. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food-no matter what you order- is absolutely delicious, the service is good (and i'm very picky about this), and the prices are reasonable. Go with a date or a group of friends and it won't fail you. I'm a vegetarian and there are plenty of choices for me and meat eaters alike. There's a dance place upstairs as a bonus for those going on the weekends that want to party after dinner. I give this restaurant the highest recommendation I can! more

Best place for crepes in Philly 9/14/2007

Went there with friends for the first time and loved it. Since then, we went back twice. Some savory crepes (I did not like like their coq au vin) are not as flavorful, but the sweet crepes are very very tasty. My wife and I love their beef tenderloin salad. Pros: Good sweet crepes, nice selection of rest of the stuff Cons: ervice can be a little slow if you sit outside more

We were seated promptly, the coffee was hot, tasty and plentiful, the service was attentive, and the waitresses were all wearing funky Parisian stockings! :) The menu was innovative and the food was superb!!! fresh ingrediants and interesting combinations. The prices are really reasonable. Don't miss the brunch specials on Saturday and Sunday. The Chicken, goat cheese, and leeks is amazing! Lacks Customer Service 3/12/2007

This was my first and probably only visit I will ever make to this restaurant. I went with my boyfriend and two other friends. We went in and were seated immediately, which I thought was great. Then, we all ordered our food. It took so long for my three friends to get their food, and even longer for me. I waited for at least 20 minutes longer than my friends did. We were completely ignored while we were waiting for our food. So, we asked to speak with the manager and she did not offer any sympathy. She gave us a dry apology, said something about the waitress being new (which was untrue...my friend had been in numerous times and she had been there), turned around and walked away. The food was really good, the service was incredibly awful. more

Authentic French Creperie 2/26/2007

Being French, I crave good crepes and am a harsh critic. Beau Monde crepes get two thumbs-up. Authentic savory crepes made with buckwheat, original and delicious menu options, and a great atmosphere make Beau Monde a great creperie. I am really excited to have found this place, as I had found another creperie in Philadelphia very disappointing. My husband and I ate at the bar rather than waiting for a table - he ""wasn't hungry"" so we shared the chicken, tomato and garlic (maybe onions too?) crepe as well as the dessert special which was a pumpkin pie crepe. Both were absolutely delicious. The bartender was friendly and the prices were consistent with the atmosphere and service. Definitely recommend and would be great for a date/romantic night. Beau Monde combines great food with wonderful ambiance and professional yet down-to-earth service. The filled crepes are huge and tasty while the wood tables, candlelight, and gas fireplace create a cozy atmosphere for a good meal. The accordian player in the corner was a bonus...you can't take life too seriously when an accordian player softly plays a Simon and Garfunkel tune. Pros: Food, service, charm, ambience. Beautiful 11/20/2006

The best crepes in the city! Go in the warmer months, when you can sit on the veranda. Everything is delicious, but the dessert crepes with the bananas and white chocolate are to die for. more
