Love your liver lips 6/29/2006

My dogs are dedicated fans of the crunchy (and apparently delectable) liver lips. As you may have guessed, these baked liver-flavored treats are in the shape of lips. Our only complaint is ... make them BIGGER! Bubba is a regular fixture in the weekend (though I hear she takes weekends off) and the staff are clearly true animal lovers. Although some of the items they carry a little pricier than a big chain, you can't beat the friendly faces, knowledgeable staff and supporting a great shop. more

Dogs welcome, dogs with humans welcome too 4/3/2006

Every now and then when Alex and I get into our let's get fit phase, and like to walk the dogs down to Old Ballard. Since we like to stop off for a treat for ourselves, we figured it would only be fair if we reciprocated for the dogs. So, we started going into Bark. Darn, if you ever want to feel like a celebrity, take your dog along with you. Everytime, we get mobbed by customers and employees who want to pet our dogs and give them treats. The dogs love it. We went once without our dogs, and felt so alone. Never doing that one again here. In all seriousness, the place is great. There's a treat display in front, where you can get your dog some baked goods. Not as good as the ones at the Three Dog Bakery, but pretty decent. Beware of anything with colored seeds because they can run off on the carpet. They also have a pretty strong collection of dog toys and such, if you want to shop for your pooch. more

Not so everlasting, but still great 4/3/2006

I've been curious about these everlasting treat toys that I've seen at Bark for months now. About two weeks ago, I broke down and bought one for Angel and Ana to share. It's almost like a rubber ball that has the ends shaved off. You're supposed to insert the everlasting treat inside, or can put food in the middle. They don't last very long--maybe ten minutes top, but the dogs have a great time with it. I wouldn't buy it for my own dogs again, but they make fun gifts for the dogs who have it all and are bored. more
