I have finally found my new salon! Moved here 12 years ago from Houston, where I had been seeing the same stylist since college. I have tried to find that special someone who could make sense of my mess of diminishing hair. I found Charl at Avalon - and I'm there to stay. I have received complements each time that I have visited Charl for a cut. The last was from my adult daughter who noted that it was the first time in years that I had received a haircut that looked as good as the ones I used to get in Houston. I am a ""no fuss, no muss"" wash-and-wear gal. No time for styling. Charl has given me the gift of a great haircut. I can once again wash, blowdry for a few seconds, and head out the door. I've been going to Avalon for 11 years and would never think of going anywhere else. You get the feel an upscale salon with none of the pretense. I always get great highlights, a fanstastic cut, and have a great time to boot. They're also an Aveda salon which means they only use the best products...but never, ever pressure you to buy anything. I don't spend a lot of time getting my hair done, as it is long. But I threw in the towel recently and said you can't stick it up in a clip for the rest of your life, so on the recommendation of a friend, I went to Avalon. I was pleasantly surprised to not be pressured into any kind of cut nor to be made to feel a fool for the lack of attention I customarily pay to my hair's I expected to be told I ""had"" to do highlights, and in fact was actually discouraged from it given my haircolor. I have learned some wonderful tricks from my stylist to keep my hair looking nice when it is down. I have been several times now, and really appreciate no pressure, just great listening and competent effort. I highly recommend this salon. It took me years of shopping for a stylist before I found Lindsey at Avalon. I will never let anyone else touch my hair now. Almost all my friends are converts, too. Everytime i go, I am attended to promptly and leave with a great head of hair and a well done face (if i choose to take advantage of the aveda make-up). Avalon's got a great thing going on - reasonable prices, very cool atmosphere (the art is always funky and stimulating, it makes you feel as if you're in an art gallery), and great stylists. I've never been disappointed and as a former hair model in NYC, Avalon has got what it takes to keep me as a customer. more

I've been a loyal customer for 3 years, never had a problem. But the past 3 times I tried to get my hair done they've cancelled on me at the last minute or the stylist simply didn't show up. The last time I waited an hour for a stylist to come in & do my hair (after they said it'd only be 15 min.) and he took over 4 hours for cut and highligts. I had to cancel my entire day! The worst part was the management wasn't at all apologetic for screwing me over so completely!!! I'll never go there again, too bad really b/c I always thought they were a nice, laid back group of people - Unfortunatly they're so laid back they can't be bothered to keep their appointments or their loyal customers satisfied.
