No Good. 6/8/2010

The building has been for sale for a long time and when you walk into this place, you can tell that they are no longer interested in their business. There were no smiles, nothing friendly about the place or people behind the counter. I was quoted a flat rate for my camera repair and when I asked for a little more information, the woman looked at me like I was asking her to cook me dinner. They just don't seem at all interested in helping or explaining their fee's or process. No way was I leaving my camera with them. I'm sure they could have fixed it but, I'd rather give my money to someone who cares. Pros: none Cons: customer service more

Great service 7/6/2009

I have taken a dropped camera once and a dropped AF lens once into them thinking I needed significant repair and parts. Both times they checked the issues, were able to immediately correct the problem and both times THERE WAS NO CHARGE! The gentleman/owner is struggling as camera repair in the digital age is a losing game, and they may close, but they have given me incredibly good service and consideration and there was no attempt to make more of the situation than it required. I read the negative reviews after my first experience and wondered if we were talking about the same shop. After my second experience, I do not believe the negative reviews at all Pros: honest service more

Great Customer Service! 1/5/2009

Great service! I have had my manual cameras repaired there for the last twelve years or more. Recently, Paul helped me with the purchase of a used camera - excellent customer service and worth it! Pros: fast, knowledgeable repair of my cameras Cons: none! more

Camera half-fixed, will not respond. 11/21/2008

I took my Canon S-80 in to have the screen LCD replaced, due to an accident in which the screen was impacted and scratched. When I got the camera back weeks later, the LCD worked but the scratched outer screen was not replaced. They never asked if I only wanted the screen replaced or informed me if the LCD and the protective screen were separate parts. Obviously, the camera was usable but a new outer screen would still be a big improvement. I told them of this lack of communication and that the camera should have gotten a replacement outer screen. They said they would order one and put it in for free, I did not hear from them for 6 weeks and called them - they said they forgot and would get right on it. After that, I called them five more times over the next six months - they would always say the part was hard to find, then never get back to me. After 9 months, I called them and said I found a source for the part and they could order it (I would pay for the part) then replace it - they took the info, said they would do their best, then again no response after a month. They won't even respond to the Better Business people! more

Knowledgeable and Way under bid - EXCELLENT! 11/12/2008

We wanted to find a very knowledgeable shop to do a real repair and properly diagnose a FILM camera. We didnt want more robots smiling at us behind a counter and giving us some lowball repair price, just to get the camera in the door. What we found was an older gentleman who DID know what we wanted and DID properly repair our EOS and did so very fast and WAY under what was quoted. We also found out that the lens we were sold by the smiley "Pros" across town was NOT supposed to work with the Canon, and it didnt! The service was professional. We didnt want all-smiles service and glad handing. We wanted a pro and we found him! Very happy. Pros: Pros are he is a pro repair man, and knows Film cameras as we were told he does. Cons: short week hours. We had to bust over there to be there by 5:30 more

People need to chill out !! 8/6/2008

AS far as I'm concerned they are the best repair shop in the state, they are quick and very honest , How do you know they were not just having a bad day , Her Mother died ,lost a child or was just told she had Cancer ??? you recieve what you put out there. To come home and write on a web site , you must be VERY, VERY lonely or just a little weird yourself, I will continue to have my repairs done by them and look forward to a job well done !! Pros: Thumbs up !! great service Cons: NONE more

Beware of this repair shop! 7/24/2008

I too have had a situation with Associated camera that leaves me wondering about their integrity!! I took my 17 month old Nikon D200 in because of an auto focus issue. They had given me a n estimate of $190 for repairs. However they told me they could do a temporary fix until the part came in and that I could use the camera until then. I then contacted Nikon and they said they could possibly repair the camera without charging me if I sent it to them directly. I immediately made contact with Associated camera and told them this. Miraculously they said the camera had been repaired without needing a new part and still charged me the $190 without having to install any new parts or wait a week. I told them I did not believe they were being honest at which point they said if I wanted my camera back I would have to bring $190 "in cash". Unfortunately they seem to be the only Nikon service center in Portland. However I would never take any camera equipment to Associated Camera on Sandy Blvd. in Portland, Oregon Pros: None Cons: Unethical business practices more

Horrible Customer Service 6/4/2008

I took my camera in and it took them a week just to fix a lever. They said that they would have it done the same day because it was so simple. However it took them a week. When we called to check on it, they were extremely rude. When it was finally finished, the lady was extremely awful. She was cocky and angry. I will never go back again, and I hope you will do the same, as there are many other bad reviews about them on other websites. Please find someplace else for something as precious as your camera. more
