Incredibly helpful at great price 12/20/2011

The following is a note I wrote to Paul about his business: I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for whatever you have done to create such a great business and such a great team. Our dryer broke down 2 weeks ago. Knowing I could probably fix it myself, I didn't want to pay what others were charging to fix it. I also didn't want to pay what others were asking just for a new motor. My brother in law recommended your shop, and I thought I'd give it a try. From the first moment, I was very impressed. Tim took my call and took much longer than could have possibly been profitable for you walking me through how to approach fixing my dryer. He was incredibly helpful. Then, when I went in to pick up the motor and I saw that he had kept detailed notes on our call and still knew exactly who I was and what my problem was, I was even more impressed. He walked me through things again, this time showing me what I would need to know on the actual motor, and making sure that I wouldn't shoot myself in the foot. Hearing that Tim and others of your staff say that they have been with you for literally decades shows that you are doing something right for them, as well. I hope I never have to fix another appliance again, but when I do, I know where I'm going for help. more

Really Bill Gephardt? My experience - NOT Trustworthy 12/7/2011

Do not use this company. They are not customer service oriented and unprofessional. If these are the types of businesses that Bill Gephardt endorses, then I would not put much clout in his opinion. From my PERSONAL experience, they do not care about their customers. Their in-office representative is rude and unprofessional, as was their service technician. You have to do a lot of follow up with this company. The service technician never returned my phone calls. The parts ordered for my machine took 10 days to get in. I was told initially they would have them after a ""couple days"". That is a lot of days to go without an appliance (and that was only the first time). I have had to have them out 3 times and they have NEVER fixed the problem. Needless to say, I am moving on to another company because I am so frustrated. Save yourself the headache and use another company. more

I am director of a non-profit foundation that assists victims of domestic abuse. I called Paul to see if they would fix a dryer for a victim who had no funds take care of it herself. She hadn't had a working dryer for two years. They not only fixed it, they fixed it ""free."" They were on time, they were considerate and she was estatic. So was I. Thanks, Paul!!!! more

I have had Paul's out to my house several times (I guess I have bad luck with appliances...) And have never been dissapointed. This last time made me want to put some reviews on the internet so others know what an extraordinary company this is. I had James come out to my house to fix my Bosch washer that would not drain. Again. You see, my kids tend to leave things in thier pockets that jam up the drain pump. This time the pump was ruined, but James had the pump on his van, and did not even need to order anything at all! I didn't know what I was going to do with laundry from six kids, but I didn't have to worry about it at all! Fixed, no hassles, no mess!! Thank you Paul's!!!!! more

they dropped the ball this time 10/2/2011

I have been calling a different company when we need appliance service. Since they don't work on Bosch dishwashers, they recommended Appliance Service by Paul when our dishwasher stopped working in April 2011. They came the next day I called. The tech found out that the dishwasher was fine but the drain line was clogged. Even though he did not fix it, he charged me $120 for trip charge and diagnostic fee. Unlike some other reviewers here, I was told about this charge on the phone. So I was okay with it. Last month when our dishwasher stopped working again I called and told them the error message I was getting. Before calling them I learned from the internet what this error message meant and what needs to be changed. The tech showed up on time, turned on the dishwasher. Told me that it is giving error message XX, which is why I called them. He told me that a part needs to be replaced (the same part that was mentioned online), but they have to order this part because it is not in stock. However, for some reason, they could not order it on Saturdays, they have to wait until Monday to order it. I did not hear from them the whole week. I called Friday and learned that the part came and I need to schedule a time for them to come and replace it. This time I had to take a day off from work. The tech came 15-20 minutes after the 3 hour window they gave, replaced the part, started writing the bill. I asked him to check if the error message is gone. It was not. After a while he noticed that he ordered the wrong part. The correct part was, again, not in their stocks and needed to be ordered. He refused to order it overnight. He refused to pre-schedule an appointment for the next Saturday, even though I would be okay to reschedule if the part did not come by Saturday (I just did not want to take another day off). Then they left a message to my home phone Friday afternoon asking me to call them back ASAP, which I received after I came back from work that evening. I called them Saturday morning before they were open. Nobody called me back until noon. I called them again and was told that I should call them back Friday to be able to schedule for Saturday. It is almost a month now and my dishwasher is still not fixed. If they were to check the error code before coming to my house, and ordered the correct part, it could be fixed within a week. Very Disappointed 9/30/2011

They didn't show on the first appointment after waiting 4 days for the appt time. We rescheduled and then they called the day of to say ""we can't make it till next week"". Then to boot, the driver was rude and argumentative. I will never call them again. more

Good service! Thank you for fixing my refrigerator! 9/11/2011

I had a very difficult problem with a fridge that I bought used. Apparently, it was making a ""gurgling"" noise that was unbearable. Darrell came to my home a total of 3 times before the problem was resolved but was very friendly and after he'd been there the second time he said he would contact the manufacturer to find out if this was a common problem on my model and see if they had any recommendations. He did this and called me to let me know that there was a kit to fix it and as soon as it came in, they'd give me a call. Finally, the kit came, and my fridge no longer gurgles! I paid $111 for the initial visit for labor charges and then an additional $50 or so for the kit when it came in. The only complaint I have is that I was stood up once during the course of this whole ordeal. They claimed that it happens every so often due to some glitch in their computer system. I don't know if this is true or not, and I'd probably have been very upset had I taken off work like I read a lot of other reviewers complain about, but if it is a glitch, it sounds like one they really need to get fixed! more

Why does R.C. Willey use this company? 8/26/2011

We bought our appliance from R.C. Willey. We paid $100 for an extended warranty. Good thing because now we need a repair, right? HA HA, the joke is on us. Appliance Service by Paul has the WORST customer service. They lied about keeping the appointment (didn't show up), even after we called at 5:00 and they assured us Darrell would show up. In fact, they said Darrell would call to give us an ETA. HA HA, we're just sucker customers who deserve shabby treatment. If you expect better service than this then complain to R.C. Willey management -- they shouldn't continue to use such a dishonest service repair company. more

Didn't Show Up for Appointment 8/12/2011

I made an appointment to repair the ice maker in my Amana refrigerator. They scheduled me for Friday from 1:30 to 4:30. I took off part of work to be there. They didn't show up! Finally at 5:20 they call and leave a message (I had left by this point), asking me if I want them to come by. Are you kidding me? No apology, no recognition that they are late. NOTHING! I should have read the reviews here first. Looks like they have done this to others. I'll be calling someone else to fix it. more

THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST!!!!! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!!! 8/6/2011

I have lost hundreds of dollars taking time off work waiting around for these guys and being stood up! If you schedule an appointment with these clowns be prepared to take half a day off work at least 2 to 3 times to fix a simple problem! So here is what went down. I scheduled an appointment for a faulty control knob on my new double oven. I am given a 4 hour window when this guy may show up. I wait till 6:00 which was ? hour after he should have shown, I call the office and I am told he never stands his customers up (please see other reviews about them consistently missing appointments) They make another appointment and I tell them to bring a new knob control this time. They show up this time late making me wait 5 hours for them AND they have no knob control! So they schedule ANOTHER appointment and make me wait as usual and finally replace the knob just as I had told them was bad originally. So I am now out a full DAY AND A HALF from work! THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST!!!!! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

WORST SERVICE--NEVER USE THEM AGAIN 8/3/2011

Cannot give a poor enough review. One star is being generous! Poor scheduling, poor connection with the customer, poor personal service, poor accommodation, and an overall poor treatment of customer. After years of giving them second chances I will NOT use them again! There are plenty of other businesses who are in the business for the right reason....the customer. Not just to make a buck! A business cannot and will not survive in this economy if they don't take care of their customers. They lost one today! more

Fantastic experience! 6/30/2011

So, my new dishwasher broke. The repairman that came to my house was quick and efficient, but the best part was he took the time to talk to me about how to get the best use out of my new dishwasher; i.e. what detergent to use, what cycle to choose ... he was great! I'd recommend and use this company again in the future. more

I called Appliance Service by Paul to schedule a service call for a malfunctioning dishwasher, and was amazed at the suggestions I was given to help me save some money - they have technicians available to troubleshoot over the phone...potentially saving a service call. It was also suggested that I contact the manufacturer and the store I bought it from, since it's only 18 months old. They could have just taken advantage of my situation, but instead offered alternatives - even if it means they won't make money off of me. Highly recommend! more

Great service on both appliances 5/31/2011

I always post a review when I'm treated right, and Paul's did. We needed the icemaker on our Sub-Zero worked on and the tech was extremely helpful and friendly. So just for good measure I had him check out our Jenn-Air dishwasher, since sometimes our dishes have a ""film"" on them. He was very patient and explained the difference between the ""old"" dish washing detergents and the ""new"" detergents. I bought the recommended brand and Voila, the film is gone. Thank you, Appliance Service by Paul. Great job. more

Never showed up for appointment... 4/12/2011

I am really upset and disappointed. We had a 12:00-5:00 p.m. time frame for them to come and work on our dryer. At 4:30 p.m. no one had come or called us. I contacted Appliance Service by Paul and the gentleman I spoke with told me their window was to come between 3:30-6:30 p.m. By 7:30 p.m. it was obvious that no one was coming. We didn't hear anything from them at all. I was at home ALL day waiting for someone from their company to come. No one ever came. No one ever called. They just flat out didn't show up. I will not be using this company again. I think they're very unprofessional. more

My new washer under warrantee needed service. I was told these guys did the warrantee work. I called them for three days only to receive a message machine. I left messages and no one ever returned my phone call. Someone finally answered the phone and I was told they hadn't found time to review any messages. I was told their computer was down so she would be unable to schedule a repair. I was told to call back when their computers were running. She had no idea when they would be up it could be days. I called back a week later several times only to receive a message machine. I knew better then to leave a message this time because they don't have time to review messages. After trying to just get an appointment for two weeks it's time to find someone who wants a customer. obviously Paul's appliance does not care for customers. more

$75 - Nothing Done 3/1/2011

I called in to have our washing machine serviced. Called on a Saturday and indicated the problem. I asked the nice lady what it would cost if they come out and they cannot fix it as I didn't want to spend a ton on a washing machine that was worth $300. She said it would be a diagnostic fee of $35. I asked her, is 6 years old a decent lifespan and she said, ""oh yes I doubt its anything we cannot fix if its only 6 years old."" I also let her hear the noise and said I am wondering if its the motor. Anyways, I decided to have them come out and fix. Repairman was nice, but listened to it and told me that it was the motor and to fix it was about $300. Then I got charged $75, which was $35 for diagnostic fee AND $35 for a Trip Fee. I called and told them that I was not told about the trip fee. They said that there is always a trip fee and the lady on Saturday should have told me that. I said, yes she should have! Anyways, long story short, they didn't care or even try to discount it, basically tuff luck that our representative didn't tell you there was a trip fee. I would not have done it if I had known it was $75 and not $35 as told. In a nutshell, YOU ARE OUT $75 NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO, they get paid JUST TO SHOW UP and possibly RECORD YOUR PHONE CALL IF YOU CALL. Will not recommend at all to anyone in future. Do not call and waste time. Note: See below, I am not alone, there are many others that were not told of the TRIP FEE, if they SHOW UP and say Hello, you are out $75-80. I wish they reailzed that if they worked with me I would have sent them much more than $35 more in the future of business from myself and friends. Some businesses are just out to get you and this is one of them. more

Great first time service 1/11/2011

Had a great first time experience with this service today. I took a clients dryer apart to see why it was making noises and I called and Jen told me what I most likely needed and had the parts on hand. Everything worked out great and my client is happy and so am I. I will use them again and recommend Appliance Service by Paul to all my clients and friends. Handyman Bob more
