Yes, it can be a poser store for suburban kids, but it is really fun to look around inside or just hang out in. They have a lot of interesting t-shirts of cool punk/rock bands, and a bunch of other stuff that the kids might need to survive high school or college. Also, it's in a great location on Belmont. If you're into this type of stuff, piercings, tattoos, chains, collars, rings, wallets, and other random stuff like that, then this is an awesome place. If you're not into that kind of stuff, then you don't need to come inside in the first place. more

Even when I don't particularly care for a place, I try to find something good about it, and when it comes to the Alley, I can applaud them for filling a niche, and making money on that niche. The Alley caters to those who are visiting Chicago, and want to buy something that exemplifies the urban lifestyle through a strange connection with Mad Max movies. This place poses as punk, or bondage, or something. I have purchased a t-shirt here, but everything else seems to cater to teenagers from the 'burbs who need attention from daddy. The prices are reasonable, I suppose, but to find something to buy, well, good luck, unless you have some kid brother or sister going to college in Minnesota. Thay may appreciate some PVC ware as a way to make a splash freshman year. more

I go to the alley to buy stuff for my 23 year old younger brother because i want him to think I'm cool. I also like to support local business and dig the fact that these people don't understand the meaning of the word pretentious. Although, it's staffed by tattooed mohawked chain wearers, it's got such a warm spirit. On the other hand, the stuff is a little pricey, but an okay spot to shop once or twice a year - when I buy stuff for the little bro. more

The best thing about this store are the radio commercials. Otherwise, this store is ridiculous. There is nothing that is really and truly unique in this store...at least compare to some of the other stores up and down Clark. Mostly, it's just a overpriced, overdone, understaffed store that specializes in selling crap to rebel wannabes. more

Haven for suburban kids the Chicagoland over, some of the younger people (18-25) who live in the city forget that it's all for show. The service is terrible, the music is blaring, and it's the same overpriced junk you can find anywhere. Mostly, it's the "hipster appeal" that keeps this place in business. However, they do have Special Effects, a response to the crap that is Manic Panic, but you can get Special Effects on the internet anyway. Not at all recommended. more

The alley is a cool store. They have a lot of neat stuff. They also have outrageous prices that make me want to cry. I could go to a thrift strore and find some of the stuff there for a lot less. If you have a deep wallet and want some cool punk clothes, go to the Alley. more

I used to go here all the time when I was living in Chicago. Great clothes store and always has fun goth stuff! Definitely worth a look if you are in the Chicago Area. (near Wrigley) more

VERY COOL CLOTHES TO CHOOSE FROM..IF YOU LIKE PUNK,ROCK OR GOTH CLOTHES THIS IS THE STORE FOR YA....KINDA HIGH PRICED ON SOME CLOTHING,BUT VERY UNIQUE CLOTHING...I'VE BOUGHT THERE GOTH CLOTHES & THERE MOTORCYCLE JACKETS,I'VE HAD THEM FOR YEARS & THEY ARE MADE WELL....THEY ALSO ITEMS FORTHE HOME LIKE INCENSE,AND NICE FIGURENS TO DISPLAY ON SHELVES OR HANG ON WALLS,ALSO HAVE NICE ITEMS MADE OF PLASTER THAT WOULD LIKE VERY NICE IN A GARDEN.
