Okay, so I moved here 5 years ago and I had really long hair - so I never really had to find an actual "stylist" to cut it, and just a trim from a drop in joint worked for years. But now, I am pregnant, and I was ready to ditch the long locks. I searched Citysearch far and wide for the highest rated salon and stylist, and Jena, of course, stood out, as you can see from reading these posts. Anyway, I called her and let her know I was cutting all my hair off and donating it to "locks of love," which she had done before, so that was a plus. I let her know since I was chopping it all off, I was really looking to build a relationship with a stylist that I could continue to see every two months for many years. Unlike many pish-posh stylists I've met, Jena was genuinely flattered and eager for a chance to build a relationship as well. That first conversation definitely won me over. Then I got the actual hair cut! I was so happy with the style and shape, but a few days later it was still feeling a little longer than I had pictured in my head. I called Jena up to let her know that I loved the style, but it was about as long as I would want it to be when I come in for a cut again. She called me back as soon as she knew her openings and had me in one week later to trim it up the way I wanted - totally complementary! What great service, I can't even express it. I haven't seen one bad review and let me tell you - there is a reason! Give her a chance if you don't have a stylist you are fully happy with.
Arabella salon is in my old neighborhood, and the atmosphere is urban chic without the uncomfortable ritziness of a fancy pants salon. I enjoy going there - definitely - but honestly, I would probably still get my hair done by Jena if she were working out the back of a pickup truck! Thanks Jena!
Pros: Jena, the cool converted urban feel
Cons: the entrance to the salon can throw you off a bit
