After living in portland a total of 3 years, I've had a multitude of bad salon experiences. Finally, 6 hair stylists later I was referred to Steven Lightfoot of Arabella Salon. Granted, I'm probably one of the pickiest people to ever sit in his chair. However, his confidence, knowledge and professionalism has yet to fail me. He took my hair from dark brown to a short, spunky, beautiful blonde with surprisingly little damage. Also, he has continuously given me a stunning cut that I can wear with my natural curls or straight, and it grows out beautifully everytime! I get compliments whenever I go out and have referred all my closest friends who are also now fully committed to Steven. I know searching for a new stylist can be a real pain, but rest assured you will leave Steven's chair looking fabulous! I recently visited Arabella Salon for the first time since my stylist is now working here, this salon is so charming and cozy that I wanted to just hang out there and drink wine and read magazines the rest of the evening. Parking was very easy and location was easy to find. I saw Catherine who is just awesome. One of the best things about her is that she listens to you and will do exactly what you ask. She takes the time to get your cut and color right. Catherine has taken me from medium hair to a pixie cut, from brunette, to red to blonde...Every hair cut and color I have ever had from her brings many compliments. Great salon and great stylist!!! more

I'm extremely particular about my hair color, but sadly uncreative. Libby is a wonder at creating vibrant color that I LOVE, and giving my hairdo a sassy twist that I don't have to work very hard to replicate on my own. She has been doing a Keratin relaxing treatment on my frizzy, unmanageable curls for the last year. Instead of robbing me of my signature ringlets, this process gives me lush, smooth, gorgeous locks that attract constant compliments. I swear on the treatment and recommend it to all of my friends! Every time I leave her chair, I feel fresh, beautiful and confident! The product line Libby uses makes my hair feel healthy like never before, and she's careful to send me on my way with the exact products I need to use at home. After a brief consultation, Stephanie mixed and matched her Sacred Nature and Comfort Care products to give me the most relaxing and rejuvenating facial. I loved the rubber mask! Afterwards my skin felt gorgeous! (and I didn't have the best skin in the first place). I would recommend her skin care products and Stephanie to anyone! I am already planning on giving gift certificates to all my friend's b-days! I can't wait to go back! Pros: beautiful space and friendly staff more

Sarah took me from long red hair to short blond hair without the usual identity crisis associated with such a drastic change. She let me take my time going lighter and shorter appt. by appt. and I LOVE IT. I was told twice this week that I look like a Movie Star!! I was feeling so frumpy and blah but now I have a spring in my step and a smile on my face. Thanks Sarah!! more

I have been going to see Jena for over year now and have always been more than happy with the results. A friend thought we should try this salon after reading all the great reviews here we werent disappointed. Jena has an eye for color and structure and you can tell that for her styling hair is a creative outlet and not just a job. She has done my hair, my daughters and my sons and weve all been happy. She even repaired a horrible cut that I got between visits the last time I was in, thanks Jena!! The only thing I would change would be to have there to two of her so that I could get appointments more easily! more

Jena did a great haircut and color for me. I recently moved to Portland from LA and had the same person taking care of my hair for 25+ years in LA.. Jena gave me the best haircut and color I have ever had!!! Great calming atmosphere soothing music to listen to, excellent products and service. Easy street parking. Worth waiting for a return call! I love this salon! Everyone is great and the space feels wonderful to be in - very relaxing and comfortable. Sarah Bandy has been doing my hair for years and she is definitely the BEST! Arabella is a great salon. Wonderful open space (also very cozy), great lighting and friendly staff make this the place to find in town. Sarah is amazing! I've never liked my hair more. I never have a problem finding an appointment or getting squeezed in for a minor trim. It is tough to find a reliable and talented stylist, you will definitely get that with Sarah. I can't rate the salon because I haven't been able to even get a hold of anyone to schedule and appt! i've called several times during BUSINESS HOURS and keep getting voicemail. I even left a message and noone's called me back. I think I'm going to look elsewhere. more

Finding Arabella Salon is a little like treasure hunt, but once you discover it, it is yours to keep. I have to say the #1 scary thing for me about visiting a new stylist is that one never knows what one is going to end up with when the job is done, but my first experience at Arabella Salon could never be more positive. Piper is just wonderful! She even offered me a $10 discount though I was not aware coupons are available on line for the first visit . I am very impressed with her skill and work ethics and will definitely come back next time. Pros: A very cool place! more

Glad I found this place! I've been switching salons for the last 4 years looking for "the one". I think I found it! Piper is great! Not only does she listen to what you want, she uses her own creativity and knowledge to do it even better. I showed her a picture of color, I love what she did even better. I let her decide what to do with the cut and I couldn't have walked out of there happier! I will definitely continue to go there and already have a friend calling for an appointment. Oh, and I didn't tell my boyfriend I was getting my hair done...when he came home from work, his first words were "I love it, you look hot!" more

I normally don't write reviews, but I have to give Piper some recognition. She actually LISTENS to you. The first time I saw her for a cut, I brought in a picture and also mentioned that I was a busy mom. She suggested how we could modify the style to fit into my limited primping time, but still achieve a similar look. I said go for it, and what do you know, it looked pretty darn good after she was done! Even my husband loved the cut (and he never notices). Highly recommended. Pros: Nice atmosphere, great stylist. Cons: Parking, can be hard to find. more

Wow! What a great experience! I recently moved here and I've been looking for someone to go to. I got a cut and color by Jena and eyebrow tint and wax by Stephanie and both were great. I made a drastic change and was extremely pleased. They totally know what they're doing and did a fantastic job...not to mention they are so friendly and personable too. I've moved around quite a bit in the last 5 years, and one of the first things I do is look for a decent esthetician. I found Arabella in the phone book and scheduled an appointment (eye brow tint and brow wax) to test out their estheticians (Stephanie) skills. I was pleasantly surprised by how attentive she was during our appointment. She didn't leave the room while the dye sat on my lashed, she stayed and carefully wiped under my eyes the whole time! This left me with no noticeable dye on my face, and great results that lasted about 6 weeks! For my brow wax she worked with me to achieve just what I was looking for. It looked great! So the girl has skills, but what about facials? I have had issues with my skin for the past year, and nothing has worked long-term. The last facial I had was uncomfortable, to say the least. She suggested some products from this great line, and then gave me a facial using some of the products. It was better than a massage! Stephanie makes massage a large part of each facial, so it's incredibly relaxing. And my skin has made VAST improvements! I am so happy with the results. I am now a completely loyal client of Stephanies. She can do it all, loves what she does, and truly cares about what the client wants. She is very very good at her job-and I'll never stray! I found Jena ans Arabella Salon through Citysearch as I was diggin' around for the best spot in town. My locks were transformed from dull to multi-dimensional, and I love the updates hair-cut she gave me. I felt wonderful when I left, and looked gorgeous! Of course I would HIGHLY recommend going there to any of their stylist, and especially Jena. The ambiance was classy but relaxed, and with the nautral hair care products from Italy , called NouNou, (mmm they work wonders and smell so good) you are seriously missing out if you go anywhere else. I am getting ready to try Stephanie for a brow wax next! Thanks Girls. more

I've been going to Arabella for years. I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else! Amanda and Piper have both "beautified" me and they are both amazing! The hair color line they use, Devines, is beyond fabulous! It wears beautifully and smells devine! For those of you who have teenage daughters, I highly recommend Piper. My 14 year old daughter had her heart set on getting pink highlights, much to my dismay. Piper did a very skillful job at listening to my concerns and listening to my daughter's wishes. She was able to help my daughter choose a color that she was happy with and one that I was happy with as well. The cut and style Piper created was stunning! My daughter is thrilled with her new look and so am I! The staff is friendly and personable. They always make me feel special and pampered and I leave feeling refreshed and gorgeous! Be sure to check out the roof top garden. It is a peaceful sanctuary! You can tell a lot of love and care has gone into creating this beautiful salon. This place really is special! I have been a client of Stephanies for almost 5 years and am always impressed at the quality of her treatment & services. She is extremely talented and knowledgable from waxing services to facials & makeup as well as just the philosophy of beauty from the inside out! She is a true professional when it comes to waxing.
