It took three tries to get a technician to come to the house to do a summer check on the furnace/air-conditioning. When the technician got there and pulled my furnace blower motor out he told me I had a mess on my hands, that the motor was spitting oil and about to ""go"", as in quit. The furnace was only 5 years old. He said we needed a new motor for sure and that we might get 5 years out of that. He said what was really needed was a new furnace and air conditioner as ours were too small for the home. He wrote up a list of things to replace; capacitors, motor, coolant etc and wanted $1198 for all of it or $897 if we joined their ""club membership"" and paid them $20 a month for NOTHING. Cons: Overpriced and dishonest more

I said no to everything and had him leave the motor on the floor and go home. Called another guy the next day from Bill's Comfort Systems, he was at my home within an hour and a half, said there was nothing wrong with my motor or the size of my heating/cooling units or the size of the blower and motor. He charged my $69.00 to put everything back together that the Whipple crook had pulled out. I would steer clear of Whipples if I were you. Pros: none Cons: Overpriced and dishonest more

Do not do business with this company 7/3/2010

In April of 2009 we purchased a new furnace and air conditioner from Whipple Heating and Air "Service Champions" (their words not mine). We paid them $12,000 and they assured that we would get the best service and equipment possible and guaranteed our satisfaction. We started having problems with the air conditioner immediately after it was installed. We called them and told them the problem. They have come out 6 or 7 times and every time they claimed that it was fixed. We have been told several things that were wrong each time it is something different. Not one of their technicians seem to really understand what is wrong or how to fix it. They come late or not at all. When you call they explain how sorry they are and apologize and again guarantee that the problem will be fixed. When they sold us the furnace and air conditioner they told us that if we were every not completely satisfied we could talk directly to the owner Kent Whipple and he would personally take care of us. We have asked to speak to him several times and the response we get is "of course we can not give out his number, but we will get him the message." Of course we have never heard from him. We picked his company because on his radio commercials he sounds like a trust worthy and honest person and I believed that he and his company would do what they say they would. I was very disappointed and in the hole $12,000 because they are not true to their word. Pros: None Cons: Paid to much money for an AC that does not work more

Bad Experience 7/2/2010

I had a slow leak that led to wet walls in my basement. Whipple referred me to one of their partner companies called Official Restoration. Turns out the Official Restoration guys, who told me they were the second largest restoration company in Utah, are NOT EVEN LICENSED. I verified this with the State of Utah, Div of Public Licensing, that they dont have a General Contractor's license. And get this...they also dont have a business license. So thanks Whipple, for suggesting I work with Official Restoration, an illegal company. What a joke. more

Don't Use Them 6/30/2010

Employees are nice but inexperienced. Don’t be fooled by the slick advertising. They’re very good at breaking promises and making excuses. They’re poor at solving the problem. It took a lot of frustrating phone calls to their main office in order to finally get an experienced technician to my house to solve the problem and finish the job. Pros: Nice folks Cons: Employees are rookies, frustrating to deal with more
