Mega Shysters! Mega Nuisance 4/26/2010

The blower motor was not working on our furnace. Whipple service techs (techs they were not!), read HIGH PRESSURE SALESMEN, came by and told us the motor was blown and the furnace was no good and we needed to replace the unit to the tune of over $6K. I said I needed to think about it over night – good thing! Turned out later that day one of the employees reset the motor and everything was working just fine. I then called my regular heating and air conditioning contractor and he checked out the furnace and said it was in perfect working order and did not need to be replaced. Now Whipple keeps calling my cell phone and every time they call I ask them to remove my name from their list. BUT NO – they just keep calling! So they are not only Shysters – but a BIG Nuisance! I WOULD NEVER DEAL WITH THEM! EVER!!! Pros: Wish there was a ZERO stars! Cons: DISHONEST! more

I had troy from Whipple come to my house to give me a furnace tune up for a deal they had. My furnace was 9 years old and they told me it had to be replaced. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He called him and had me talk to Kent the owner. He also tried to tell me that my model was outdated and needed to be replaced. When I said that it was only 9 years old he tried to sell me on some cock and bull story about how today's technology is far superior and that the tuneup wouldn't work for my model and I needed to get a new one. So I told him no thanks and kicked out his lackey troy. Later that day I found a video on youtube that showed me how to do it for 10 bucks and only took 2 hours of my time and is running great with no problems. NEVER HIRE WHIPPLE FOR ANYTHING! The owner lies through his teeth! Pros: none Cons: Kent lied to me directly. more

Lied to us about our furnace that is less than a year old. 2/17/2010

Told us our furnace that is less than a year old was in very poor condition and several parts were bad. They wanted $1200 to change the bad parts. They recommended replacing the furnace and air conditioner for $8200 after rebates. We had a second opinion and found that the ONLY problem is that our thermostat had gone bad. After talking to a couple people in HVAC we learned that the first test they should do is bypass the thermostat. We bought the new thermostat and everything works. Saved over $8100. Whipple is way too expensive and will try to sell you things you do not need. Pros: None. Cons: Lied, Overpriced, High Pressure Sales more

Instead of repair they will try to replace! 12/31/2009

Had a furnace that needed repair. They insisted that is needed replaced. The tech diagnosed the furnace with the light from his cell phone! Wanted to sell me a $5000 furnace. I declined and got a second opinion. Furnace repaired for less than $1000 and no cracked heat exchanger like the Whipple tech claims. The new tech actually used a camera to inspect the unit and found nothing! Con artists. Beware! Pros: none Cons: They will try make you pay. more
