Take your loved one here for a delicious dinner at a relaxed pace. You will have 4 courses including cheese...

Worst

Wow, we're talking expensive. $150.00 per couple including wine. That kind of money will get you better service, food and atmosphere elsewhere. Try it, but as I was told before ""...

Just experience it~ 4/20/2006

Went there around Oct. 2005 at night around 9:00 which the kitchen is about to close; so we were kind of in a rush in last call. The food was ok, but I love the plenty amout of cheese that our waiter left for us! It was plenty of cheese to melt in the pot that I think I have ate my whole month worth supply of cheese :) The meat and veggie were not top quality, but you dine here for the atmosphere and experience, not really a restaurant for gourmet. It was kind of hard to get our servant's attention, however. He only checked on us when he brings over the food, and we have to ask for other waiter to help us get stuff we need. The dessert chocolate is always a enjoyable entry, with fruits and cake, always a treat for sweet tooth like me! Pros: Ambiance, atmosphere, experience Cons: service, parking more

Worst experience at an upscale restaurant 2/9/2006

On our first night out since we had our first kid, we were glad to see the place was pretty empty thinking we're going to get sitted pretty quickly. Wrong, we were told the wait was 15 minutes. After 30 mins I had to ask if our seats were ready. They quickly sat us down and walked away without giving us water or even ask us for drink orders. After another 40 mins I told my wife we should leave because at this rate it'll probably another 1.5 hours before we're all done. And that is what we did. Too bad I didn't get to try their food, but with their service and prices it would have to make me break out in songs to overcome my experience. Cons: Service, promptness more

I dont get it... 2/2/2006

I definitely dont know where these people went, but everytime I go to the Melting Pot, I have awesome service and great food. It is pricey but for the ambiance and the food, its totally worth it. I've been there at least 5 or 6 times and have never had a bad experience. And for those who complain about ""having to cook your own food"", thats the idea. Thats the exact reason for the restaurant. Thats what makes it such a great place. Wonderful first date spot! I tell everyone to go there! Pros: great food, beautiful atmosphere, fun more

Good but wallet draining 1/16/2006

Okay, I love... love love love the cheese fondue. The dessert one is pretty good, too. I'm not big on meat, but even that was kind of fun and good. The atmosphere is romantic and intimate. I was with a party of four, and we were put at a table with only one burner. That meant we all had to agree on the same kind of cheese fondue, broth, and dessert stuff. Which can kind of suck for the price you're paying. That's the biggest drawback. Plus, when I'd been there before with just one person we ordered the cheese fondue for two. It was the same amount of cheese we got as when I went again with a party of four. Only I paid twice as much. So that was a bit of a downer and left us all wanting more cheese. Pros: Excellent food, Fun, Intimate Cons: Parking, Price, Portion more

So Gouda! Happiest Happy Hour 12/12/2005

If you like cheese, then the Melting Pot happy hour IN THE BAR is where you need to be. For under $100, my two girlfriends and I were able to sit at a corner table for 3 hours and snack on 2 cheese fondue pots ($8!! hh price), a delish salad ($3.50!!) and a chocolate dessert fondue. Oh, not to mention the 4 glasses of cab each. WHAT A DEAL! Nice, dark, cozy (with fireplace), pretty good service and basically left alone to graze. Pros: $8 Cheese pot, $3.50 Salad, privacy more

Terrible Service 11/14/2005

Did not get seated till one hour after our reservation time. After being seated never got drink refills. Server forgot our salads. food was cold and server several times brought out wrong items. it took 4 tries to get the bill correct For the amount of money we spent, service was horrible and restaurant definetely not recommended. more

Just Average 9/29/2005

I was greated by the friendly staff when we walked in the bartender made me a drink while I waited for the hostess to come back from seating a table A+. The server was friendly and informative on the menu and helped us choose our items we had the four course meal ( alot of food ). The food was all right there was just no wow except the Smores fondue. The cooking process was fun that was what made the meal. I did have a nice time and would return again but only for occasional visit. Pros: Staff, Dessert, atmosphere Cons: average food, booths to close more

Perfect for a date or anniversary! 8/19/2005

My husband and I are huge fondue fans, we make it all the time for friends and host our own fondue parties. This is one great chain restaurant. If you order the swiss fondue make sure to get it without Kirsch & nutmeg...trust us it tastes much better without those two ingredients. You can keep the budget down considerably if you simply share an order. They will try to convince you that it's only for 1 but insist on sharing...you could never finish a whole order by yourself no matter how hungry you are. The negative reviews about price are for people who obviously had the 4 course dinner and ordered dessert etc.. you can easily just get dessert & a drink to cut the cost and still have a fun time dipping. Pros: Great Food, Great Drinks, Great Staff more

User review by cougar2136 6/29/2005

I was amazed to see the last review, which describes a restaurant I don't know. I have been to the Melting Pot several times. Each time I bring someone new. I found the staff to be incredibly kind and helpful. I found the food to be top of the line. The problem with the wine list is picking a wine. Yes, it is on the costly side, but when you are talking about the quality of food it is worth it. I would recommend this restaurant for any couple. Kids, not such a good idea because of the burner in the middle of the table. more

Franchise Francais 5/31/2005

Everything about this restaurant screams corporate franchise. When you walk in, it becomes appearant from the unfriendly host staff, the cheesy decor and outrageous prices. Skip the overpriced bland selection of this menu and spare yourself the agony of the three hour ""tour"" the unexperienced, unknowledgable staff will take you on. I felt more like a tourist in a european vacation group than a diner in a nice place. When I asked a question about wine my server said he didn't know but would check, then never returned....... The only good part of the meal was dessert, but the joy was over when I got the whopping $350 bill for dinner and one drink each for four people. The price and the quality of the food, service and ambieance are in serious disarray at this faux-francais restaurant. Pros: Dessert, Don't have to return Cons: Expensive, Poor service, Bland food more

Class Actly 5/20/2005

Friendliest Host staff of any restaurant I've tried. Bartender (Mike) had flair, sense of humor, and made A+ drinks (recommend the YingYang) Barback Kyle was fun to watch! My bf and I went back to our table. and there was a ROSE! Server was adorable, Bryan, listened to what I liked and what my bf can't eat. Chesse was great. They make it right there. Skipped salad, didn't wanna get full. Entree was fun....not just eating dinner but making it. Fondue made just for us. Tried the Mojo, recommend it. Selection for the Big Night Out was great. For dessert. I blended Milk Chocolate with Carmel and this new Liquor that the bartender told me about. Said its a new liquor that tastes like Creme Brulee! They set the fondue on fire. My BF loved it. Why go to a movie and not talk when you can spend time together. Pros: Service Staff, Experience, Intimate Cons: High Demand more

Fon-don't! 5/18/2005

When I arrived I was told by the host that I could sit in the bar, or that I would have to wait an hour. I asked to be put on the list and I was told that it was too close to closing to be put on the list. I sat in the bar, where the service was fine but was just disappointed with the lack of selection and and poor quality of the cheeses and meats. Dessert was O.K., but for the price stay at home and do it yourself, or go to a restaurant where they cook for you! Pros: Dessert Cons: Expensive, Unwelcoming hosts, poor variety more

BEST DATE EVER!!!! 5/15/2005

I have tried a lot of places for the perfect date, but nothing has ever come CLOSE to The Melting Pot. Four courses, fun and witty service, and such a romantic setting. We were treated to such experiences as watching them make the cheese fondue right in front of us, being able to cook lobster and filet mignon right at the table and then dipping into a myriad of sauces. They bring you melted chocolate, set it on fire in front of you so that you can roast your marshmellows over it like you were camping, and then you have everything from strawberries to cheesecake that you get to dip in the chocolate. This was an AMAZING night, and I can't wait to go back. Needless to say, we will be spending every anniversary there. The restaurant is also perfect for larger groups and they have a great happy hour. Pros: great service, incredible food, romantic spot Cons: don't eat beforehand more

Wondrful 5/13/2005

We had the best time at the Melting Pot, the choices were overwhelming at first but our server was more like a tour guide than a waiter. He helped us decide and walked us through the whole experience. It was a lot of fun although I wish i hadn't eaten a big lunch, it was a ton of food. The wine list was huge as well, again, our server was awesome and recommended something we really liked. I'm going back for happy hour today. Pros: service, wine list, portions more

Can not believe!? 5/12/2005

First of all why is this place catergorized as a French restaurant?? The service was slow, forgetful and unknowledgable. I ordered a bottle of wine which arrived at my table already opened. The food was mediocre at best and the lack of selection was extremely disappointing. The dessert was o.k. but after we finished our server did not turn off the burner and it began smoking. When speaking with a manager he was highly defensive, rude and unprofessional. Overall I would not wish this overpriced and overated experience on anyone, save your money and go somewhere that has more variety than cheddar or swiss cheeses! Pros: chocolate Cons: expensive, poor quality, unfriendly atmosphere more

Wonderful 4/27/2005

I have been to the melting pot downtown three times and have been impressed by each visit. The four course meal is the way to go and neither me or my friends have ever left hungry. We could barely finish everything. The service is also wonderful and I loved how they explained all the ingredients and gave their own suggestions. The Melting Pot also have a great happy hour if you just want to swing by for some dessert or cheese. A great place for a fun dinner! Pros: Four-Course Meal, Staff, Happy Hour more

GO HUNGRY!! 4/26/2005

OMG - SO MUCH FOOD and so many different flavors. This is dining that will surely excite anyone's palate. There are many options. Thank goodness we had a very helpful and knowledgeable server to guide us through. We selected one of the four course feature dinners which started us out with a cheese fondue prepared right at the table by our server. The salad was as fresh as could be. For the entree we had everything from duck to steak and lobster and the sauces were quite tasty. The real fun was the conversation which was stimulated in our group by cooking together. For dessert we had the best chocolate. It was orgasmic when coupled with all the great items they brought us for dipping. The wine list was outstanding as well. Yes - it cost us a little more, but SOOOO worth every penny for this unique experience!! Pros: Service, Choices, Experience more

Don't expect your palate to be impressed 4/16/2005

If you never had fondue, it could be an interesting experience. However, for the amount of money you'll be parting with you can find a lot better tasting food in other places. To make the best of it, eat something before you go and order the cheese fondues and/or dessert. Do NOT fall for their ""entrees"". Pros: original Cons: price, taste more

Terrific 1/13/2005

The melting pot is a wonderful place to have any meal. I would recomend this restraunt with no regrets. They satisfy their customers with all the attention that is desired. The melting pot is a terrific atmosphere with fabulous company. Pros: great value, peaceful, romantic more

Fon-dud 11/1/2004

After waiting 30 mins before someone came to take our order for wine, it took 2 hours to get 2 dishes. The sauces were yummy, and eating fondue makes for a different dining experience, but there wasn't much quality to the ""dippers."" Why aren't the breads from Macrina? and really, marshmallows for dessert?? The dining room feels like a hotel room, and the music matches. For the price, this restaurant is not worth your time. more
