Take your loved one here for a delicious dinner at a relaxed pace. You will have 4 courses including cheese...

Worst

Wow, we're talking expensive. $150.00 per couple including wine. That kind of money will get you better service, food and atmosphere elsewhere. Try it, but as I was told before ""...

Poor service and overpriced 6/30/2004

Although some of the meats were tasty, I found that for the price and service, this place wasn't worth it. It took over three hours for our group of 8 to get through dinner and we constantly had to ask for them to fill our water and wine glasses. Our server was not very knowledgeable and seemed EXTREMELY stressed out. We ordered the fiesta cheese fondue and several of us agreed that it tasted like ballgame nacho cheese sauce. On top of that, it was about $40 a person to eat. Spend your money somewhere else. Pros: Flavorful meats Cons: , Overpriced, Average food quality more

A Novel Idea 6/5/2004

Imagine a place that does not aim for the all-American smorgasbord and try the Melting Pot. This is not an in-and-out restaurant, this is not a place to be cheap, and it is definitely not a place for children. Come on you adults who can appreciate fine wines, appropriate food portions of choice meats, and the time it should take to enjoy a meal. Do not even consider this establishment if you just got your paycheck and are looking to blow it on a cheap thrill, clearly the Melting Pot is not for you. Finally, restaurants like this one are aiming for quality and providing a lovely alternative for those of us who like to spend a little money and time to get something good. more

Great place to take a date 1/29/2004

Because your dinning takes a couple hours, this is a great place to take your date. You eat slowly and have lots of time to talk. Great food too, but my wife and I go on a date here 1-2 times per year for the past few years and enjoy the time together away from our kids to talk about us. Pros: Time to talk more

Astonishingly poor value 1/13/2004

I've been twice, once for a family dinner event and once for a low-key dessert for 4. For the former, the do-it-yourself style lent itself to group bonding even though the menu was confusing and the overall bill huge. For dessert though, $24.95 bought literally $8-10 worth of bland food. I'm talking 10 cubes of poundcake, and 2 marshmellows sliced in half. It was laughable, and embarassinng. A letter to the owner went unanswered. I won't return. Pros: waitstaff, interactive food, great mushroom salad Cons: terrible value, confusing menu more

I am still day dreaming...... 12/15/2003

I have only been to The Melting Pot one time, but my experience has me fanatasizing often about gong back. I loved this place! The only thing that holds me back is the lack of funds. The place IS pricey. But, if I could go often, I certainly would. I highly recommend it. Everyone should experience it at least once (I have sent many of my friends their direction.) more

Great for taste 10/5/2003

The Melting Pot was the most fun I have ever had going to a restaurant. Although a little pricy, for a really special occassion it was worth the money. Pros: Valet Parking, Great Food, Fun Atmosphere Cons: A little pricy more

I'll never go here again! 10/1/2003

My fiance took me to the Melting Pot for my birthday and our experience made this the worst birthday of my 27 years. We were treated rudly and ignored by both the wait staff and the management. It took us one hour to get our appetizer. Finally after many questions we were told that they had a party of 75 and they ""couldn't focus on parties of 2 right now"". I was MAD. Needless to say we up and left. more

nice dinner 5/25/2003

The food was really good as well as the nice secluded booth for dinner. Perfect for a date and making the food together adds to the romanticy feeling. Dinner for 2 averages $100+. Make reservations. more

Over-Priced Gimmick 5/5/2003

Since my last fondue was in the era of macrame and love beads, I resisted suggestions to give this place a try. I should have resisted harder! For a restaurant, the gimmick in fondue is that they give you half the food you would otherwise get (you don;t notice because it is cut into tiny bites) and you do most of their cooking for them. Then they charge you twice as much for doing so. Our 7 year old thought it was fun, but the adults decided early that we would never return. Although some of the reviews here panned the service, we thought our servers were the most pleasant part of the meal. But that's not saying much! Cons: over-priced, too dark to read, mediocre food more

What a meal 4/25/2003

I could not believe the negative reviews on the melting pot. The cheese fondue was so good, as was the chocolate. Their wine list is spectacular. The service was great. There is nothing negative to say about the melting pot. I think everyone should try going there at least once. Pros: good service more

Great Experience 4/21/2003

I have to disagree with many of the reviews. One should learn a bit about this restaurant before visiting in order to not be surprised about having to cook their own meal. This is a dining experience, not a typical restaurant meal. Expect to spend a minimum of 2 hours for the experience. The food was great, the wine list impressive, service was far above average (someone was available to assist us at all times within moments). Plan on utilizing the valet service for stress-free parking. This is not a restaurant for toddlers or young children, but would be very fun for those 7+ years old. The bill is quite expensive (figure $50 per person with wine), but check out their website before making reservations (which is nearly mandatory on a typical Friday or Saturday). Pros: Service, Experience Cons: Parking, Price more

You've GOT to be kidding!!! 2/15/2003

Need more than 150 words... hostess was useless, even rude. We called to say we'd be 15 minutes late for our reservation. She said she might give our table away and hung up on us in mid-sentence. Table was WAY to small for party of 6. We requested another but were told it was not possible. Ventilation is poor. Expect to be STEAMED. Aroma is thick when you enter which makes it hard to appreciate your (expensive) order. Service was OK but slower than most. Food was [just] OK but complicated by small table and too few 'pots' for cooking. 6 people and two pots means a LOT of reaching. 18% gratuity is ASSUMED (and pre-added to the check.) Our total for 6 was nearly 500.00 (plus valet pkg.) We got a good laugh from the experience but definitely won't be back (and neither should you.) Cons: expensive, national chain, impersonal more

a simmering pot 12/16/2002

Wow, we're talking expensive. $150.00 per couple including wine. That kind of money will get you better service, food and atmosphere elsewhere. Try it, but as I was told before ""you won't go back."" Cons: $8.00 per pot charge, automatic 18% grat. more

The cheesiest! 12/9/2002

Sure you cook your own food, sure it takes a couple of hours, sure it is the best place to take a date or significant other for a romantic meal. Truely a fun dining experience, now I know what the hoopla was all about in the 60's Pros: wait staff, full bar Cons: valet parking more

Overpriced and we had to do the cooking 10/18/2002

Overpriced with a limited menu, poor service, dinner took two hours. We had to cook our own food. Pros: good location, near other sites, not much good to say Cons: Overprice, limited menu, not enough parking more

a dining experience not to be missed 10/10/2002

Sure its a chain, but a good one. There are few place where you can sit down and enjoy a long relaxed meal and not feel rushed. When your with the right people spending three hours at the table is the perfect way to spend an evening. Not to mention the chocolate fondue is amazing. Yum! Pros: quiet/secluded, good wine selection Cons: parking can be tough more

Fun Place to eat 8/28/2002

It was fun eating at the Melting pot. Very friendly staff. more

Perfect 8/20/2002

Had a great experince at The Melting Pot. The staff was very helful explaining how do properly do everything. The food was excellent, and we got the perfect amount for the price. I really don't have a bad thing to say about the place. I will be going back. more

Fabulous 8/20/2002

The food was delicious, the service fantastic. Someone was always there refilling our water and wine. The food came at the perfect pace and the server was very professional and friendly. She never hurried us and she was very knowledgeable on the wines and the food. I will definitely go back! Pros: food, service, ambience more

great date place 7/29/2002

Weather it's going out with friends or on a date this place is one that should be in the field of contention. The food was very good the servers were on top of it all and the dessert is to die for. Be prepared to take some home. Cons: hot plate on table more
