Best

Oysters are the next best thing to lox, uni, and yellowtail. When I found out that Elliott's Oyster House has oysters for 50 cents during happy hour, I squealed. No. Literally....

Worst

7/2/08 for lunch & 7/7/08 for dinner. Years ago traveled to Seattle and really enjoyed this place. Love the food, location, views and atmosphere. Boy were we disappointed in the...

Best Bloody Marys 9/23/2005

My girlfriend loves Elliott's oysters, but I'm completely in lust with their Bloody Marys. You should definitely get both as they make a great combo for light lunch. We sat on the deck and it was a typical weekend Seattle day, so I should have brought a jacket, but it was good fun anyway. Pros: Drinks more

Waterfront central 7/29/2005

Its location is its greatest asset, also its downside...If you eat here, it should be for location and to sit outside, people watch. Most of the menu is very standard/pedestrian fare. We would order clams or mussels here, but not even salmon and certainly not fish and chips. The fish fillets look like they were made in a factory(?). Fish tacos do not compare with anything one would get in Mexico or S. Calif. When do you ever have fish tacos with red sauce? Service is so-so. That being said, it still is an OK spot when you are strolling the waterfront. Just know, it is more for passing the time, not gourmet dining. Pricey for what you get. Pros: location more

Don't Waste your Money!!! 7/14/2005

We were greeted by a pleasent server, ordered beverages & wished to order an appetizer, but he was in a hurry. We ordered the tomato basil salad and Ahi Poke. that took 20 mins. The ahi was small and non descript & the tomato salad was unedible. The tomatoes were so over ripe and brown, I almost lost my appetite. Our beverges needed to be refilled, so we flagged down a hostess. We had the Salmon w/ Crab Crust which was overcooked, & potatoes seemed processed. I had the Seafood Chop Salad which was missing 2 ingredients. Finally, the server stopped by to ask us ""was that it"", obviously he was in a hurry, we ordered the berry cobbler. To top off, (being the worst food experince I have ever had) we took one bite of the cobbler & realised it was cold. I will not waste my money again! Cons: poor food quality, slow service, over priced for lunch more

Nearly ruined our night 7/10/2005

Despite the $20-40 entrees tourist trap ambience, we decided to try Elliot's. I ordered crab cocktail--a local specialty. The flavorless and unseasoned chunks of supermarket crab arrived doused in cheap cocktail sauce--dissapointing at $15. Our entrees were equally suspect. The salmon was overcooked, dry, and was not fresh. The accompanying babybokchoy was cold and dried out. The other entree was laughably bad. The macadamia nut crust was not evident on the fishy and dry fried snapper that more resembled a Gorton's fish stick than a $25 meal. The fried mass rested atop a pile of cold couscous and was topped with canned, yes canned, fruit. The gelatenous, jarred plum sauce was inedible. The fish was sent back and the second piece was at least warm, if not tasty. The pressure by the pushy waiter to order side salads, drinks, and deserts left us feeling ripped off and used. more

Happy Hour Oysters are a Winner! 6/16/2005

I went to dinner, and I was ripped off. I went to happy hour, and I was happy. The choice that stands out the most, is the Oyster Rockefeller -- about $2 a piece but delicious! The choice I regret, the appetizer tower -- absolute rip off! At $33, I expected quality or quantity in crab cakes & calamari -- I got a few pieces at embarrassing Costco quality. The happy hour has the only reasonable price/quality ratio. The half-shell oysters are good -- and 50 cents each @ 3PM -- but the pan fried oysters is the winning choice, and should be ordered in pairs! The other happy hour selections are average at best. The bar has a huge selection, I recommend trying the blackberry margarita. Romantic? No. Casual? Yes. If you're looking for fairly priced oysters, happy hour is the way to go! Pros: Happy Hour, Waterfront Cons: Expensive, Parking more

It's about oysters 6/6/2005

Go sit at the oyster bar and be awash in at least a dozen varieties they may have at any one time, from both coasts and Canada. For the ultimate, wash them down with champagne. The regular menu is standard with the fish and chips, fish tacos, pasta with seafood sauce, dungeness crab. It will be well-prepared and fresh, but routine... Service is usually pleasant and considering its prime location on the waterfront, it is our 1st choice when we want that kind of experience. It is very casual, not romantic for the noise, clatter, tourists. Pros: oysters, location Cons: can be loud more

Great Seafood 1/22/2005

Great restaurant. The chipino is the best I have ever had. Worth going back to. Pros: Free valet parking, Good seafood more

Waterfront Ho-Hum 9/27/2004

The water view is the same as Ivar's and the food is not significantly better, but you will pay at least twice as much here, probably more! If you want great seafood for that much money, walk 2 blocks up the hill to the Brooklyn at Second & University. It doesn't have the water view, but the food is light years better than Elliott's. Pros: okay water view Cons: , way overpriced, dour atmosphere more

Want oysters ? 6/14/2004

Having tried many of the the traditional recomendations in Seattle for oysters and found them wanting, Elliott's delivered. Variety, knowledge and suggestions from our server (at the bar), were excellent. Pros: Oysters, Appetizers, Beverage selection more

No Special Orders Please 3/7/2004

I challenge the creativity of a chef who can't make a dish without garlic. I also expect a $$$$ restaurant like Elliot's to be able to make dishes to order for patrons with garlic allergies. (Most quality restaurants in Seattle are able to do). There was only one dish on the menu that could be made without garlic (and it wasn't one that I would have chosen). Apparently everything is pre-made at Elliot's and the kitchen is only an assembly line. Also - ordered the smoked salmon appetizer and it was terrible - I think they forgot to cure & smoke it. In their defense, they did remove the salmon from the bill. Also, our server was great - no complaints about service. If you don't have any special requests eat at Elliots (but don't order the smoked salmon). And if you do, eat somewhere else. Pros: location, service more

great! 12/2/2003

i recently travelled to seattle and this was the best food i had all week. i read the reviews before going and this looked like a good spot and it definitely is! Next time I visit, this place will definitely be on my list of places to visit. the crab cakes, chowder, and oysters are great...quick and friendly service. the entrees can be pricey (i've eated here twice and my bills were around $20-30 per person, depending on appetizer, drink, etc.), but the food is very fresh and well worth the price. great place for a special date or a business lunch or dinner if you are in the area. more

EXCELLANT 9/5/2003

My wife and I were visiting the Northwest just last week. This was her first time ever in the Northwest. So I took her to Elliot's which I told her was great. I had the salmon for lunch (which melted in my mouth) and she had the Halibut cheeks. Her words were ""this is the best food I have ever had in any restaurant anywhere"". We had outdoor seating. The smells from the waterfront only seemed to enhance the experience. What a wonderful place for dinner or lunch. If I have friends visiting the Seattle area I will definitely tell them to eat there. My wife and I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado and we're ready to make another visit to Seattle. We both loved our time there, especially our lunch at Elliot's. It's a place everybody should try. They also make the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. Pros: perfect portions, well priced, great atmosphere more

great desserts 7/2/2003

Definitely do not go here if you don't like seafood, because they have only a few, maybe one, non-seafood dish (chicken penne pasta) and it is not very good. Their seafood is great and their desserts are the best. I got the chocolate souffle and my boyfriend got the berry dessert that was the special of the day. We got AWFUL service (we were there for over two hours and we had reservations) but they gave us our desserts for free and were very apologetic. Somewhat overpriced. Pros: desserts, water view Cons: crowded, parking, expensive more

Phenom 6/4/2003

I continue to be amazed at the personal attention and quality of food and service. I am impressed everytime I dine there and I have never been disappointed. The oyster bar is excellent. Great conversation and food. The deserts are ""killer"". I take all my friends there when they come to town. I recommend it without hesitation!!! Pros: Great Seafood, Oyster Champs, Easy Parking Cons: None, None, None more

Great Lunch 4/29/2003

Great seafood on the water. Lunch was great. Kids liked the childrens menu selections. Pros: Location, Quality, Selection Cons: Price more

Still a great place 4/13/2003

This time of year is a great time to go to Elliott's before the tourist season. You can get seated right away. The seafood fettucini, crab cakes, spinach and shrimp dip were all excellent! The view is really something! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly! Nice selection of NW wines. Pros: excellent food, great view, staff more

Excellent Oysters! 1/20/2003

The thing that really caught me about Elliots was how professional they were. I usually don't use ""Professional"" to describe a restaurant. I ordered pan fried oysters, and a dozen varrious oysters. The menu said they were oyster experts, so I asked away some strange questions to my waiter. And although he wasn't an oyster person, he had all the questions. They also had an interesting pamplet on eating dungeness crab, cooking and selecting it. You could take this brochure home. They had a WIDE variety of oysters, oh say 15 kinds. It was a great place for oysters, and they had a great menu of other selections as well. The view was great, and service was friendly and comfortable. Pros: selection of oysters, view more

OH YEAH!!! 1/12/2003

Great selection of shell fish that literally melts in your mouth. Casual dining experience with fine dining service and atmosphere. more

Winter is NW seafood season! 1/3/2003

It kills me that so many Seattlites that protest to love local seafood so much don't seem to take notice of the fact that most NW seafood is in its prime in the winter! That's when the crab, oysters and other shellfish are at their peak. I am a huge seafood lover and eat here often, as well as a few other ""seafood hot spots."" Time after time the crab is bigger and sweeter and the oyster selections far better than any other place. I am never disappointed. By the way, the service is great too. Valet parking now too! Pros: the best seafood!, valet parking more

Touris dining 11/9/2002

But I still love it. Always a great piece of salmon, I just stay away in the summer and enjoy it for the othe 9 months. more
