Nearly ruined our night 7/10/2005

Despite the $20-40 entrees tourist trap ambience, we decided to try Elliot's. I ordered crab cocktail--a local specialty. The flavorless and unseasoned chunks of supermarket crab arrived doused in cheap cocktail sauce--dissapointing at $15. Our entrees were equally suspect. The salmon was overcooked, dry, and was not fresh. The accompanying babybokchoy was cold and dried out. The other entree was laughably bad. The macadamia nut crust was not evident on the fishy and dry fried snapper that more resembled a Gorton's fish stick than a $25 meal. The fried mass rested atop a pile of cold couscous and was topped with canned, yes canned, fruit. The gelatenous, jarred plum sauce was inedible. The fish was sent back and the second piece was at least warm, if not tasty. The pressure by the pushy waiter to order side salads, drinks, and deserts left us feeling ripped off and used. more
