This tire place is decent, I bought 2 sets of tires over 3 years with this store, and im always looking for a deal, last time i bought a set of used tires for my toyota and got it...

Worst

Unfair for the qualified mechanics (Who are not the favorites) employed @ Elliott Tire & Services in Ballard. I went in not to long ago to get new tires... Ended up getting new ...

Wish I had read this beforehand - Same Strut Advice given - Sounds suspicious 3/24/2008

I took my car in for an oil change and they told me that I had an oil leak. Of course, they later called me to tell me that I had blown front struts and that they needed replacing immediately. The charge would be about $500 for the two front struts plus alignment. The total cost today will be about $950 for me. Now I am busy and I just took this for the truth. Had I read these reviews prior, I would have declined. I actually found these reviews when I Googled, "what is the danger with blown front struts?". I am now pretty confused about the whole thing and hope that they are telling the truth. I guess there is no way to really know. Again, I cannot confirm the truth but I did call to ask them to stop the service and they told me that it was too late and that the struts were already taken apart and that they were waiting on replacement parts. The guy that I dealt with was Justin and he was friendly enough that I would have taken his word as legitimate. Again, had it not been for these reviews, I would have never questioned the fact... more

Wish I could rate them less than 1 star 12/5/2007

I have never been so incredibly bullied and condescended to in my life. I went in for an oil change because I received a coupon in the mail. I witnessed the other single woman in the lobby also be bullied into purchasing unnecessary parts and labor. Then I was presented with an entire list of repairs needed on my 3 year old very reliable car. I have since found out that most of the repairs they deemed as nessary for the safety of the car are not in fact needed at all. I was told at the register that the clerk was glad I am moving to another state because in my car's current condition it poses a threat to him and his family. And then he told me I should drive through Vegas on my way to California because I sound like a gambling woman to him. This is a horrible, immoral way to manipulate customers. After this I am reporting them to the BBB and the Attorney General's office. I sincerely hope they get shut down so they can not take advantage of less knowledgeable people. more

AWFUL!!! 2 BAD EXPERIENCES!!! DID NOT REPLACE OIL FILTER!!!!! DANGEROUS! 11/14/2007

My first experience w/ Elliot Tire was incredibly disconcerting. I went in to get new tires. Ok, things went fine. I received a call while my car was still there, from a mechanic who stated that I needed new "struts" as well. He stated that the car would run much smoother blah blah blah..and the estimate was nearly $1000. I called my old very reliable mechanic to ask about this and he mentioned that these tire places are notorious for telling people that they need new struts. I told the mechanic to hold off on the strut repair and he had the nerve to get angry with me!!! I said that I just wanted to get a second opinion...He said, "I know that I should not be offended, but I am." He went on to tell me that I needed this and it was a waste of time for me to go somewhere else. At that point, I didn't care about the presumed car problem, I knew that even if I did need struts, there was no way I would give the business to someone who treated me with such disrespect. It turned out that struts were not needed on my car....go figure. The second experience was more recent and w/ my partner's mini cooper. His office is nearby, and he wanted to get a quick oil change before a driving business trip.... he didn't want to go b/c of my previous experience, but went against his better judgment. He drove the car out to Ellensburg and back. We then left the next day to drive for a weekend in Ocean Shores. When we got out for gas, we noticed that oil was covering the back of the car!!! The car began acting not so good (and this is a car that has performed amazingly well and only has 35k miles). We found a garage in Aberdeen and the wonderful mechanics there took a look only to find that the oil filter was not replaced and the ring that is supposed to be replaced when new oil is put in was an old worn ring. The mechanic said that whoever had done the repair had barely sealed it up...causing all of the oil to leak out! He said that b/c of the small size of things in the mini, the mechanic at Elliot likely got lazy and just loosely closed it off with his hand. If we had not stopped, the entire engine could have failed b/c there was no oil left in the car!!!! I am wondering who this mechanic is that would make such a careless or thoughtless error. We are going in to get reimbursed for the repair we had to do as wel as future damaged caused by this poor work. Summary: STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE....IF NOT, YOU MAY BE PUTTING YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES IN DANGER!!!!!!! more

STAY AWAY!!!!!! 2 terrrible experiences with this place! 11/14/2007

Don't believe what they tell you. 10/12/2007

Two vehicles, two different occasions, two different managers but same problem. Both times I was told bad ball joints and both times there was nothing wrong with them. I gave them a second chance and they failed miserably. I will only be taking my cars to reputable shops from now on. This was at the South Everett location more

Liars, Thieves, and Scam Artists! 8/14/2007

Four days ago, my Mother's car overheated while driving along Elliott Avenue. Luckily (..or so she thought.), she was able to pull right into the Goodyear shop before they closed for the day. After the shop Manager had a mechanic take a look (..for a $45 "diagnostic Fee".), he told her that she had a blown head gasket, complete with antifreeze in the engine cylinders and "..who know what else..". He then advised her that she would need a new water pump, a new timing belt, and that "..it might also need rings and valves. We won't know until we get in there". The total estimate he gave her for their work was $2,000, and he said that that figure might go up, "..depending on what we find when we get in there"! Before authorizing the work, my Mother happened to call me for a little advice. I'm well aware of the predatory practices some shops employ when they feel they've got a helpless victim, so I suggested she have the car towed to Ty's Automotive on Delridge in West Seattle for a second opinion. I'd heard from several friends about Ty's, and I was sure they'd take care of her. After Ty's had a chance to take a look, they called with their opinion. The final result? All the car needed was a new Thermostat. With all the labor, and the new part, a grand total of $75. But what about the antifreeze in the engine cylinders, the blown Head Gasket, the water pump, etc.??? All LIES from Goodyear. There was NO antifreeze in the cylinders. There was NO blown Head Gasket. There WERE and ARE a bunch of lying, thieving people working at Goodyear Auto Service Center on Elliott Avenue though, and it won't be long before the BBB and the WA Attorney General's office know about them too. Steer clear of these incompetent liars! more

Horrible 1/24/2007

I used a coupon for 90K service to get my camry serviced. They tried to significantly overcharge me by claiming that it would cost more than the advertised price since my car is a V6 (and that they had told me this on the phone which was not true). Avoid this place due to a lack of honesty. I recommend Clinton's Auto Service in U district especially if you have a Toyota. more

Number one in my book 1/7/2007

I have taken my vehicle to many of the Elliott locations. I have always been impressed by the knowledge and care given by the sales associates and technicians. I appreciate knowing what problems to watch for and never feel pressured to fix my vehicle based on their recommendations. Elliott Tire is number one in my book. They have always stood beside all of their work and most stores offer a loaner vehicle. Try to get that from your local down-the-street mechanic. more

worst scam artists ever 12/29/2006

I had a car in to them on Elliott for emissions repair and since they were on the list as authorized I chose them. Well after turning in to a $700.00 repair on, mind you a 1988 domestic car. Once again the actual parts total would have been about $120.00 had I bought anywhere else, they charged triple. Then guess what. One part was missing, to this day I still do not have it. Then on top of that It Fails the test . I was very angry at this point. Spoke with the manager and he said I am required by law to give them a second chance to make it right. So after a long discussion of how the repair was way over what we had agreed on in the first place on top of the fact it failed, I took it back in. No word from them for 3 days then they call and say its ready. I took it right down to the testing place To find out IT FAILED WORSE THAN BEFORE I EVER TOOK IT TO THEM THE FIRST TIME! Then I am told by the testing place that they have tons of complaints about them for failing to actually fix the cars but only doing something so the customer gets a waiver for attempting to fix. The problem is most people probably take the waiver and go without going back to Elliott Tire. These guys do not know what they are doing. Stay as far away as you can more

Not the choice for repair work. 12/22/2006

My car was towed by AAA to Elliott Tire in Ballard as it was the closest open repair shop (on a Saturday) to where the in-tank fuel pump failed. Rather than the car being seen on Monday morning (as promised,) it wasn't in the shop until closing on Monday afternoon. Their labor estimate for a fuel pump replacement was three hours more than "book," (the estimation guide for repairs,) due to "the condition of the vehicle." As I was 180 miles away, and they knew it, I had no option but to accept. Labor rates at Elliott Tire are comparable, if not equal to, any dealer without the brand specific technician training. Parts costs for my repair were higher than the dealer and substantially more, almost double, the "street price" from a local NAPA auto parts store (source for many independent shops.) Everything removed to accomplish the repair was deemed "in need of replacement," and the parts I did authorize were replaced with the more expensive of several options available to them (10 year old car.) No less expensive parts options were offered. The president of the company, (after I complained directly to him via e-mail,) did knock two hours off the labor charge to be more in line with local competitor's estimates (he called for them.) However, an off-hand comment made by him on the phone sticks in my mind. To paraphrase, "If my technicians beat the labor estimate in terms of the time it takes to do a job, I consider the estimate as the charged amount." Apparently an estimate is actually the lowest price possible at Elliott Tire. Take your car to a dealer or a reputable "service only" shop for repairs. Buy tires and wheels here, if you're still so inclined... more

Avoid these guys - 10/20/2006

My Justy has a three cylinder engine - but they told me the tune ups they offer don't have a category for that - so they charged me for a four cylinder tune! They suckered my roommate in with a cheap oil change coupon, then gave him the old "we can't let you drive away with your car in this shape" line - and handed him a list of repairs - he said no thanks - Another friend of mine received an oil change - He discovered when he started the car, they neglected to add new oil in - Keep this shop up and away from your car at all times. Overbearing, overpriced, and trained to up-sell. more

Auto Service with a smile 9/30/2005

As a female I used to expect to get the most expensive quotes on auto work. However I have been taking my car to Goodyear Elliott Tire (both the one on Elliott and the one on Fauntleroy in West Seattle) for years because they treat me with respect. The crew at the Fauntleroy location are very courteous and when they see my history with them they reward me with best prices for goods and services. more

Let me take you for a ride 8/16/2005

Suckers are apparently what the people at Goodyear Elliott Tire and Service Centers see when a customer walks through the door. Their advertised oil change special which, according to management, also includes an oil filter change is a cruel hoax. My oil filter was not replaced and I know of a few others who have had serious problems with this particular location. They did refund my money when asked. more
