My first experience w/ Elliot Tire was incredibly disconcerting. I went in to get new tires. Ok, things went fine. I received a call while my car was still there, from a mechanic who stated that I needed new "struts" as well. He stated that the car would run much smoother blah blah blah..and the estimate was nearly $1000. I called my old very reliable mechanic to ask about this and he mentioned that these tire places are notorious for telling people that they need new struts. I told the mechanic to hold off on the strut repair and he had the nerve to get angry with me!!! I said that I just wanted to get a second opinion...He said, "I know that I should not be offended, but I am." He went on to tell me that I needed this and it was a waste of time for me to go somewhere else. At that point, I didn't care about the presumed car problem, I knew that even if I did need struts, there was no way I would give the business to someone who treated me with such disrespect. It turned out that struts were not needed on my car....go figure.
The second experience was more recent and w/ my partner's mini cooper. His office is nearby, and he wanted to get a quick oil change before a driving business trip.... he didn't want to go b/c of my previous experience, but went against his better judgment. He drove the car out to Ellensburg and back. We then left the next day to drive for a weekend in Ocean Shores. When we got out for gas, we noticed that oil was covering the back of the car!!! The car began acting not so good (and this is a car that has performed amazingly well and only has 35k miles). We found a garage in Aberdeen and the wonderful mechanics there took a look only to find that the oil filter was not replaced and the ring that is supposed to be replaced when new oil is put in was an old worn ring. The mechanic said that whoever had done the repair had barely sealed it up...causing all of the oil to leak out! He said that b/c of the small size of things in the mini, the mechanic at Elliot likely got lazy and just loosely closed it off with his hand. If we had not stopped, the entire engine could have failed b/c there was no oil left in the car!!!!
I am wondering who this mechanic is that would make such a careless or thoughtless error.
We are going in to get reimbursed for the repair we had to do as wel as future damaged caused by this poor work.
Summary: STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE....IF NOT, YOU MAY BE PUTTING YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES IN DANGER!!!!!!!
