Coffee and More... but the best is the coffee. 8/15/2005

Tazza is in the heart of the revitalization of the classic shopping street Westminster, and it's helping to lead the rejuvenation of that area. Mornings and afternoons are perfect at Tazza. The ambience is lovely in red and soft tones, with a counter which features backlighting and multi-layered art. Often you'll hear either jazz or avant-garde music or a movie being displayed on the far wall. The best part of Tazza is its delicious coffee. The barista-master, Darin, is a coffee aficionado and expert, and rarely will you find anyone in New England who loves coffee as much as he does. Tell Darin what coffees you enjoy and he'll recommend a half dozen varietals you'll enjoy, too. His iced coffee is produced through a method called cold-water extraction, which produces more of a variety of flavors than the traditional "brew-hot, chill" method, and is the best iced coffee you'll ever have east of Seattle. (At $3.00 a glass, it better be!) While you're there in the afternoon, check out their lunch menu, chock full of traditional and mouthwatering lunch favorites, such as panini sandwiches with salad and signature soups. At night, Tazza changes to more of a lounge/bar atmosphere, featuring a full bar and oftentimes live entertainment. The low lighting can sometimes detract from the atmosphere at night, as those who are accustomed to the coffeehouse style will undoubtedly attest, but if you're meeting for drinks and good music or poetry, then the nighttime is the right time for you. I still prefer the coffee. more
