For those that are new to DC and are looking for a way to contribute to the community and to meet other other people new to DC, I would recommend joining Greater DC Cares. It's a nonprofit that organized community events around the area like neighborhood cleanings, work in soup kitchens, kids hospitals, etc, for evenings and weekends. It's also a good way to meet other young people. They send out an email every week for the upcoming events, and you simply respond when you're interested in participating.

I’ve been here with a friend who has a memberhip a couple times to play racquetball. I think this place has the best courts for racquetball in the city. All their facilities are very well kept and clean. This is a very modern facility. If I lived near here then I would consider getting a membership.

The Bangkok Bistro is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and professional. The food is absolutely wonderful. I've been coming here for years and always order something new and delicious. They offer wonderful specials and sidewalk dining is available in the warm months. The Bangkok Bistro is moderately priced and well worth the trip.

More
The National Shrine is a must-see for Roman Catholics visiting Washington, DC. In addition to the enormous upper church and lower crypt church, there are dozens of small chapels, each dedicated to various nations. Architecture is beautiful, especially the tiled mosaics and stained glass of the upper church. Also not to be missed are the marble saint sculptures outside the crypt church on the lower level and the chapel of Ireland in the rear of the upper level.

While you do have to be registered with the Library to go into the reading room, the tour guide will show you around the atrium area and point out interesting aspects of the building and reading room. The guides were very informative and explained artistic touches, and architectural meaning that I would never have even noticed. What looks like an overly ornate area, has real meaning all around that I would never have seen. I was so surprised that we had a treasure like this building in the US, and even more so that I didn't know anything about it! I had expected to be going to see piles of books. (yawn) but no, the architectural tour was entertaining and great! Also. the bookstore is great, you'll want to buy everything!

I needed my driveway paved because the asphalt was starting to break apart. American Concrete Pavement Association was recommended to me by a friend. They provided me with a quote the next day and were able to do the job while I was at work. It was nice not having to worry about having to take time off of work to meet with them. When I arrived home my driveway looked as good as new.

Hidden just outside DuPont circle beyond businesses is Firefly. The decor of this restaurant makes it seem like you might be underneath a tree surrounded by fireflies at night. The service when I went for lunch was a bit slow to start as they had just opened for lunch, but picked up and was very helpful. The choices were original and reasonably priced for lunch. We were able to enjoy a healthy, delicious lunch in time to get back for the afternoon hours.

More
Church of the Epiphany is smack dab in the middle of downtown, and that works for this parish with a long and interesting history, because it draws people from all over the metro area. The membership is not huge, and because of that, there is a real sense of community here. The church is very diverse and sponsors programs reflecting that -- not just on Sundays, but throughout the week. You'll notice that Epiphany could use some interior cosmetics, and that's because this church focuses most of its money on reaching out to the homeless and others. An 8 a.m. service on Sundays attracts many of the homeless in the neighborhood, and a breakfast is served to them after that service. The next service is at 11.

I can't think of a single person who doesn't like attending shows held by the National Symphony Orchestra. My father has been taking me to see them since I was a little girl, and I've always loved them.
I love going to the shows with guest musicians, since it makes it seem like a different group each time. I highly recommend NSO to everyone!
