expensive but extensive 8/7/2005

The owner of Stevens books is by far the crankiest proprietor in Raleigh. But darn-it! He’s got the best selection you will ever see. A booklover’s delight, his store is filled, and I mean filled with rows and rows and rows of rows of bookshelves, and the books that don’t fit on the shelves are stacked neatly in piles on the floor. Don’t expect any breaks, though. All those books makes him think he can command the highest price in town. For example, I purchased a used copy of Soren Kierkegaard’s Fear & Trembling. The cover price from the 1960s edition was $.95. I got it from Stephen’s for a mere $3.50. Inflation, I suppose. If you’re looking for it, he’s probably got it. But he’ll make sure you know you bought it from him, that’s for sure. more
