Salon del Sol

I went to this salon to get a consultation for a blow out and a trim. My hair is very curly and I am very selective about who does it. The stylist who saw me was very strange. He kept talking about his racial background and was way too touchy feely. He also affected a feminine inner-city style of speech that was off putting. Needless to say, he was unprofessional and I did not go back. However, the other stylists seemed to know what they are doing...I suppose. more

I've just discovered a great way to save money and have a good haircut as well. After my son was born with multiple disabilities and we had to spend $60,000 a year on his therapy, we had to save money in a big way. Gone were my long afternoons at the salon. I started going to the budget haircut places, but was never pleased with the results, and in any case, I always ended up spending over $50 just for a haircut and blow dry, which in my book isn't cheap. One day I got a gift of some cash, and I booked an appointment at Salon del Sol .... I needed to look and feel good! Imagine my surprise to learn that a cut with a junior stylist and a full blowout cost less than I was paying at the Hair Cuttery! There are three levels of stylists (novice, junior and senior), each at a different price. The level of service is the same with each (i.e., the blowdry isn't an extra charge, nor is long hair). I've been very pleased with my junior stylist. Plus, you get the pampering of a salon, and lovely Aveda products. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I've been to many of the best salons in Richmond, and this one is at the top of my list, no matter what the cost! Suzanne more
