Worst

The haunted prison was not scary at all. The actors for the most part were behind bars or standing within plain sight and they are not allowed to touch you. Also it was so crowded...

fun 4/7/2006

I went there with my parents one summer. It wasn't spooky or scary, but it was creepy, becuase a lot of the prison is falling down just from age. It was interesting to learn about the construction of the place, and why it was built the way it was, as well as the people who were jailed there. The rooms were very tiny, so if you're claustrophobic, you might not enjoy the tour. And, you get to wear sexy hard hats! more

Scared out of my mind! 2/21/2006

Eastern Sate Penitentiary is one spooky place. I came her for a Halloween event. I have been to many haunted houses but this one is unreal. The jail is old and ragged. With people in various costumes jumping out at you, you are bound to be scared. I remember one time someone was chasing me with an electrical saw. It would be really interesting to visit the prison without any events going on. To see how people lived years ago in the jail would be shocking. more

great place to visit 9/17/2005

I have been to the Eastern State Penitentiary twice - once during Halloween and the other time just to take a tour of the prison. The Haunted House is really well done and scary! I would not bring small children to this! (There are people jumping out of you at all times)! The regular tour of the penitentiary is very interesting and informant. I think it would be ok to brings children along for the tour. Also, check the ESP's website as they often will have coupons you can print out and get a few bucks off your tickets. more
